    Hello Mrs. Magruder, for the last 3 months I have been listening to your videos in preparation for the Clinical exam. You replaced my music playlists, my sport radios stations in my car in my commute to work and anywhere I went. Listening to your videos religiously and they, and you were a huge part in why this time I passed the exam. I want to tell you how much I enjoy and continue learning listening to your videos and how you deliver and mix your stories and explain the subjects so clearly in your calming, soothing voice. Thank you.Is there anything I can do to you show my appreciation. PS..For got your singing skills...LOL. Thank you.

    I have a question about confidentiality. If the client has HIV and is having unprotected sex, should we talk to the client's partner?. I have different material, one tells me that I won't tell the partner but encourage the client to tell her/his partner. I watched some videos and the answer is to contact the client's partner and disclose.

    Thank you for the overview! Very helpful :) I have a question about the bartering aspect. In another RUclips video by another person, there was a question example for the licensing exam and the correct answer was that bartering would be accepted as the community regularly barters for different goods/services and the person was mowing the agencies lawn for services so it was not directly with the social worker. Does this make sense? Is this a situation that we would not typically see? Trying to understand how to correctly answer questions regarding this on the exam. Thank you!

    • @karenmagruderlcsw-s9655
      @karenmagruderlcsw-s9655  4 года назад +4

      Good question, Hannah. The Code of Ethics states: "Social workers should avoid accepting goods or services from clients as payment for professional services. Bartering arrangements, particularly involving services, create the potential for conflicts of interest, exploitation, and inappropriate boundaries in social workers' relationships with clients. Social workers should explore and may participate in bartering only in very limited circumstances when it can be demonstrated that such arrangements are an accepted practice among professionals in the local community, considered to be essential for the provision of services, negotiated without coercion, and entered into at the client's initiative and with the client's informed consent. Social workers who accept goods or services from clients as payment for professional services assume the full burden of demonstrating that this arrangement will not be detrimental to the client or the professional relationship."

    If giving information via subpoena on clients own recognizance can we pick what information would be helpful or is it all or nothing? Another question: in the Apgar exam guide it states that bartering can be acceptable in some rural communities. This seems to conflict with this information. Can you confirm?

    • @karenmagruderlcsw-s9655
      @karenmagruderlcsw-s9655  4 года назад +1

      Good questions! Regarding the subpoena- I believe it is all or nothing (based on the records they specifically request) but you would probably want to consult with supervisors and your state NASW board should this situation arise.
      Regarding bartering, the Code of Ethics states:
      "Social workers should avoid accepting goods or services from clients as payment for professional services. Social workers who accept goods or services from clients as payment for professional services assume the full burden of demonstrating that this arrangement will not be detrimental to the client or the professional relationship.
