Having the right tool for the job at Hand often times is underrated. It is a game changer if you have the right tool.
Love the “it’s friday fool.."
Finally a Friday "you need this tool" segment that didn't cost me any money! Of course that is only because I already have a large weatherpack connector kit on the shelf in the shop....
ohh this makes more sense! my crimpers are just ( A,b,c,d,e ) crimpers with no circle ones. I could never figure out how to crimp the seal part on
Yeah you need this tool
I really need that tool! I have been thinking about rewiring my 65 international scout for a while and weather packs have been on my list for a while.
They work well
Fellow scout owner nice
Just the tool I've been looking for and the price is right for someone who will use it only on rare occasions. Really appreciate the links as well. Cheers
Can you back probe these connectors if you need to test the circuit down the road?
First channel worth watching for a car/truck enthusiast
glad you dig it
Nice hat. hope those projects are going well for you.
living the dream
Yeah this tool is awesome. I used to just use pliers or regular crimpers and it got the job done but it was a pain to do and I was always questioning the connection. This tool is crazy awesome and easy to use. Definitely one for the tool box!
I am guilty of that as well
Digging that Magpul hat 🎩
yeah had to add that to my collection
next time demo the tool in the vid don't just talk about it
nah
Great tools to make it as good as new
thanks
We are on the same page with this one son ! Next level is correct . New hat as well .
lol...yeah
Great video and definitely great connectors. As you said, these connectors will take your project to "the next level" fosho.
thanks
excellent video, thank you so much brother, I got that darn tool and the handles slip off of it that sux
I must admit that I've been crimping and soldering connectors a lot... But when you have the right crimping tool for your terminals, you can trust that they are 110% connected and will never fail! Also soldering will weaken the joint because it's more prone to breaking the wire if you wiggle it too much...
I would agree
Great connector system: Delphi Packard weather pack. I won't disagree with you.
But!! Even better. Deutsch (pronounced DOITZ) MUCH easier to crimp, connections are vastly more secure and sealed AND far easier to modify if you so choose. IMO.
Good vid btw!
yeah for sure
These Friday segments are getting expensive hahah love it keep up the great work
I hear that a lot
I wish Canadian prices were as good as yours would help out a bit
They're called open barrell crimpers by the way.
Always good stuff!
Thanks
Nice tool with the connector. However I can guarantee you that over time plastic will break down. The end all be all connector is the cannon plug. It's a male/female connector that threads together. The pins are soldered to the wires. This is the connector used in Aviation atleast when I was in the Navy and worked as an Aviation Electrician that's what we had. You can buy them with flanges to mount them to a fire wall and you can then just plug-in your harness. They can also be safety wired to never come loose. Hands down best connector but they are expensive. I like the idea just thought I would inform you of something that is a bit better. Also they are an aluminum body with a silicone type center material not sure what it is. 100% water proof and you can pin and depin over and over again
CW Chops & Rods cannon plugs were a nightmare to deal with in Iraq! They don't play well with sand at all and trying to re-pin the wires into a new plug body is enough to give a guy a case of Tourette's syndrome. I will agree they have their place but that place isn't in the sand and grit.
Im sure that can happen. Ive personally repinned hundreds of them working in AIMD on the USS Abraham Lincoln. I was in the electric shop. It just takes practice when you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. I could see sand and grit creating issues I've never dealt with that issue
tinny pencil butane torch and small dia solder is my choice vs crimp tools ive done all my harness this way for the turbo classic mini
I like to solder stuff as well but some things are weaker soldered and are designed to be crimped
Sorry I missed the video about that tool that helps disassemble the water pack connectors. Where is it available? As always very informative video. Thank you.

hey I need this tool !! ,cool gear by the way have a good day amigo Kyle
Thanks
Astro Pneumatic sells a decent starter kit. Part# 9478 for $96 gets you some decent ratcheting pliers, a release tool, and a good assortment of connectors to get your feet wet.
cool
if you had to buy a harness, what brand would you go with ? I'm sure mine has been hacked more than its worth repairing. 78 c10
not really sure
excelentes pinzas. La Perla Negra atras hermosa camioneta. saludos. y gracias.
LOL I always wonder if you're out in the shop talking to yourself when you're asking questions to your side in the video. Cracks me up. Keep up the great work!
thanks
yes !
Agreed.love the humour lol
The links you posted for this video are just for one connection (one male and one female) but you say you buy these bulk online. do you have a link to a bulk pack of say the 2 pin connectors? otherwise i will just increase the number that i order via amazon. thanks for the video. these will be great when i put the offroad lights on the grand cherokee
Just search amazon for weather pack and you will find the packs
Kyle will you be starting up another channel that will have a 12 step program to help tool junkies like myself. (The man that dies with most tools wins) Keep these videos coming. I really find great value in them.
lol...
I cant stress having a calibrated crimper enough!
yeah
Another nice installment in the You Need This Tool lineup. I've never bought these connectors separately, but I've seen them. I'm pretty sure a J&S Safeguard I installed on one of my old turbo cars had the same connectors. On a side note, you're great in front of the camera, Kyle... very entertaining, especially when you ask questions to the other guys on the set. 😉😂👍 Excellent editing, too. Watching 200 of these this year is going to be easy. Rainy all weekend, more time to work in the garage. 👍
Thanks
Do you know connector like this for large gauge wire that would run to a fuse panel like 4 gauge? I am in the middle of a swap and would like to have a connector in the middle of the wire so I dont need to need to unbolt the fuse box to get access to the bolt for the wire when ever the harness needs to be removed for servicing the car.
not right off the top of my head
Hell yea that's one of the best Friday videos yet !!!
thanks
Nice, but how does the - "disconnect tool" function, as shown in the beginning? It was my next question How to avoid moisture in the wireconnection, close by! Finn, Denmark
The connector is designed to keep the moisture out. You can watch the other video to learn about the disconnect tool - ruclips.net/video/YE2_ktvHqG8/видео.html
Great job Kyle 👍🏁
Thanks
Where did you get the pin removal/extraction tool thing? I can''t seem to find the correct terminology for google!
ruclips.net/video/YE2_ktvHqG8/видео.html
where did you get the depin tool at the first of the video?

The Delphi weather pack connector is Ok. Like it will get the job done. But in comparison to sonething like the Deutsch DT series connectors, they are utter junk. They are an absolute pain in the arse to assemble and terminate. And are no where near as reliable as they should be. (same deal with metri-pack)
Its a hassle to individually install each seal onto the wire. And its a hassle to have to do 2 stages of crimping to first crimp the wire then the seal. And its a super big pain in the arse when you need to depin them. In contrast the DT connector has none of those issues.
For a cheap, easy, readily availble to use plug, i dont think you can go past the Deutsch DT Plug.
And no, i dont work for Deutsch. But i am a professional Auto-Electrician and have to do this stuff every day. I know which plug I'd rather use.
I could see that. Very few have to install them for a living though.
The Fab Forums
Yeah. If its just a hobby car car, and your only doing a couple of plugs here or there. Use whatever you already have the tooling for. But to the people that are specifically gonna purchase a set of crimpers and connector bits. Then you may aswell use something better than Weather Packs. There cant be a whole heap of price difference with the tooling or components (non genuine) between the types of plugs. Its just the ease of use that you can improve on.
I agree Deutsch is better, weather pack, metric pack are ok but I find them to bulkly and the pins are cheaply made. A official Deutsch crimper will run around 300$. Its worth the money, there are knockoffs online for about 30$.
👍👍
Here is a link to the type of connector I was referring to.
m.aircraftspruce.com/menus/in/accessories_cannon.html
Yeah I have some of those as well. I mainly use those for bulkhead setups.
great viddy as usual Kyle! liking the weather PACs. now I don't have to go to the bone yard and snip them of dead cars anymore...
Thanks
We use these at work on all our electrical connections. I never knew the name of the tool, but wanted to find out so i could have one home lol. Butt connectors and tape work, but look shitty and unprofessional
DEUTSCH CONNECTORS.
Easier to work with and more robust.
used them on my train horn install. but I soldered my wires. crimping is for slackers.
lol. some things are designed to stronger crimped vs soldered. I also solder a lot of stuff though.
Slobber zone and slow'reillys
I liked the middle aged baby boomer electrician's video better - at least he showed how the tool worked.
dude, you know we need the "how to without the tool video", if i had the tool why fuck am i on youtube?

I wasted my time...
