  • Another walk in Malmö, Sweden. This time in the area around the Turning Torso skyscraper , it's a area full of new buildings and waterfronts.
Turning Torso is 190.4 meters tall and the second tallest building not just in Sweden but in all of the Nordic countries.

Thanks! Yeah, I really liked what they had done with the water & green areas between the buildings.

This was a nice tour of Västra Hamnen (western Harbour)! As you write in the subtext 30 years ago it consisted really only of an empty SAAB car factory (which had only been active for a few years) and the old shipyard areas where there has been no ships produced for a long time. But so much construction and development has happened since then and now the area is quite nice I think. I think it has a good mix of bigger buildings, more modern design but also some of those more "inner areas" have quite cosy spaces, like around 13:22 with some water and green areas and smaller buildings. The maybe tricky concept with Västra Hamnen is that it is very windy and cold over the winter, and at summer time when it is nice, it is so crowded with people so it almost feels a bit touristy, but I guess that is just the way things work. The tree deck and area you see at 18:29 is usually very popular with people bathing and sunning in summertime. I think in general västra hamnen is a very nice part of Malmö, with lots of different types of buidings for different stages of life and also some very nice common areas for everyone to enjoy. There are also being new developments done in other parts of Västra Hamnen that looks really promising, but that should be for another visit!

Thanks for all the added info! I agree, the area was really nice. It was the windiest walk I've recorded so far, during the road trip when this was recorded we did have a lot of bad luck with the weather so I wasn't sure if this was just another case of bad luck, but I guess it's common with a lot of wind in here in this season.

That's a really good question, I honestly don't know, I think most cities have some beauty to them.
I did really like a lot of the cities I visited on my recent trips, it might just be that the old architecture is different in the southern part of Sweden compared to what I'm used to but I really liked Ystad, Malmö & Lund.
