I love this! Dolphins are such amazing animals who love to preform and show off to humans, despite what other people think (in most cases). The Japan dolphin slaughters, however, I am against. Those are horrible!
Many US facilities buy from European, Japanese or Russian facilities. They say they have not been caught 'inhumanely' but can very well be from Taiji, as far as the records go. Ceta-Base says at least 100 dolphins in the US are wild-caught.
That's no ordinary dolphin, that's a bottlenose dolphin since its my #1 favorite animal on Earth & also the #1 friendliest animal on planet Earth. To help bottlenose dolphins around the ocean in the successful distant future against traffickers & poachers, donate to Wildlife Conservation Society Organization at 2300 Southern Boulevard in Bronx, NY 10460.
Ever stuck your head in the water there? There's a massive drone of filter motors and rumbling speakers. So cool to see dolphin re-educated for man's world because, as others comment, they have no hope in the ocean. Japanese who eat these dolphin and say, they really aren't THAT smart, they're just like dogs. They need man to survive. You ever snorkel in the colorful ocean? That's too much for these guys. They're happy and secure in the cesspool. Ca-ching .. now pay me for the promo, B. A. !!
YOU imagine being a dolphin, out in sea, in danger! there are sharks out there that can eat them.fishing nets that they can get stuck in and be eaten by humans. they are safer in places like this, where people love and care for them.
What this means in practical terms is that they will be far more self obsessed with some smaller area where they excel, and consequently need far less stimulation than humans to be content. I suppose it's possible that dolphins or other big marine mammals might have advanced conscious experience and language, but there's not really evidence of anything linguists would label full blown language use.
hi :) there are 41 species of dolphin and yes, the bottlenose dolphins in this video are endangered. part of the reason they are in trouble in the first place is because fishermen are taking them out of the wild, away from their homes and selling them to companies like seaworld when they fail to get their dolphins to breed. worse, DOLPHINS ONLY LIVE HALF THEIR NATURAL LIFESPAN IN CAPTIVITY- due to becoming depressed and susceptible to illness. hope i cleared that up :(
Grace, you are completely right. Dolphins live to a mere 5 years in captivity, but in their natural environment they live to 45+ years. It is human greed and a total disregard to the animals welfare that they are stuck in aquariums.
Even with the subjects of the most advanced attempts at teaching language to bonobos I don't think most people would say that they're people in cages. There are huge differences in the mental activity of humans and any other animal we know of. While you can teach advanced communication skills to certain animals, they don't use them like humans do - You just don't find them asking questions or expressing opinions for the purpose of manipulating the mental state of other creatures.
I don't think the point of his comparison with dogs was to equate intelligence, but their response to social interaction. Dogs are very good at this and can even understand things like pointing gestures which escape most of the great apes due to them lacking a proper theory of mind. Dolphins are no doubt impressive, but ability to form creative plans and tool use is found in many other species with far smaller brains, for example crows.
They also get depressed and beach themselves in the wild. We need to find better ways of helping them. I dont think that whales and dolphins always do so well once released back in the wild when all they have been used to is captivity. Keiko an example. They also miss human interaction once used to it. Should be a 'happy medium' where they can come &go as they please. (In a perfect world I guess). But there is also something killing them in the oceans. (Peru). We are so privileged they exist.
@GullyGrace You realize dolphins are endangered right? :P There is a reason why humans decided to keep them in secure locations. They are well taken care of. Do you want them to go extinct within the next few years?
Actually now days they aren’t allowed to mistreat them or they lose that privilege of teaching them. Also dolphins enjoy the attention and love to learn so yeah. Some ppl are cruel and they shouldn’t have thier jobs but that’s not everybody
I will say that they do have bonds with there pod and not normally humans, but since they are in captivity there is no point on sending them back to the sea. they cant defend themselves and hunt for food so its sad that people make them swim in circles but in aquariums they are safe
Despite what the Cove told you, there isn't evidence of a dolphin from those slaughters being sold to anyone in the Western Hemisphere since the 80's. All but one of the National Aquarium's dolphins were born in captivity and the one who isnt was captured from Texas in 1975.
Ariel triton: Im sure that dolphins love there life in the in the great big ocean, sorry i mean swiming pool. Of coure they want to preform for us, after all if they dont they wont get feed. Dolphins in captivity get to do the exact same things they do in the ocean, except have freedom, hunt, be with their familys, and swim 40 miles a day.
You do realize that they are very much like dogs, right? We domesticated some dolphins just like dogs and the dolphins bond to their trainers just like a dog would bond to their owner. It would only be cruel to return them to the wild after they have been cared for by humans. They are happy. They are animals that like to please. They are not being harmed. Trust me, they are in more danger in the ocean!
Do u Know where the dolphines comes from??? TAIJI JAPAN... watch the movie THE COVE so after that u can understand that is not a good idea to give money to the horrible business!!! Dolphines had to live free in the oceans... them house! PLEASE watch that movie. Do it for them, beautiful creature!!!

poor little dolphins, forced to swim in circles and do the same tricks for the rest of their lives and for dead fish. why don't we just leave them alone
It is enough of stealing the freedom from him to the animals, is not just for them!!!! do you realize that it is a proven fact that dolphins suffer in captivity, the average lifespan of a dolphin in the wild is 45 years yet every 7 years half of the dolphins in captivity die form capture shock, pneumonia, intestinal disease and other stress related injuries
Check out the investigation of the Cove on RUclips. It's done by a neutral source and has a lot of great information. Most professionals see those activists as... childish. I understand why you don't approve of captivity, but you're probably going to want to know why most activists with a valued opinion don't accept or use the Cove as a source of any factual evidence they may have against captivity. If you're going to argue for or against something, it's best to know both side of the argument.
you can at the dolphin research center in the florida keys, or at seaworld orlando! and theres plenty of other places too! replying 10 years late but whateverr
There's no documentation of "dolphin eating sharks" you fool. Although dolphins probably become familiarized with captivity pretty quickly and probably don't know the difference. It still is upsetting to see them in a tiny piece of shit swimming pool though. Maybe you spend most of your time indoors and don't like being outside - others don't.
As for the idea that they are people in cages, I think that presumes a hell of a lot about their subjective mentality that neither you, nor anyone else, is in a position to really know anything about. They're far enough removed from humanity in evolutionary terms that it would be silly to think we can just look at their problem solving ability and brain size and infer that they're basically humans swimming around there.
@agluva4ever wow u r uninformed.... if u knew wat was going on in japan, where most of these dolphins come from, then u would know that while they are not becoming extinct, but the dolphin population has greatly decreased due to the mass annual slaughter that happens there. only the "show worthy" dolphins are chosen to life this terrible life in a tiny tank...
There natural habitat is in the ocean, do you actually know how these dolphins got here? there not rescued like it's all chuffing claimed, they are selected from a dolphin hunt, and the attractive ones are took to suffer a miserable life of captivity, and if they dont peform their deprived off food, and left to die in a secluded tank. There tanks in themselves are so small it is not natural or fair! The one's that arent picked are inhumanly slattered and sold for their meat, which is poisionous!
BOYCOTT DOLPHIN SHOWS! These dolphins do not deserve to be put in such horrible conditions. You are so mean stop making these dolphins be your money making machine, if you just leave them in the ocean they will be much happier imagine you being one of the dolphins
This is a very miserable life for a dolphin. Some of them stop eating and let themselves starve to death when in captivity. Dolphins need the open and living sea, full of creatures and plants. Not a concrete coffin where they can only smell their own excrements in 'dead' water. We don't need such places to save an endangered species. We need marine reserves, not dolphin parks!!!!

Very nice 👌
If you don't like this, why are you here?
well actually since they were either born there or rescued, their natural habitat is that pool.
I can think of some water that is not connected to the ocean: that tiny little dolphin pool in your video!
