I think snickers would be the most popular in every state. My guess on how this is structured is that starburst isn’t the most purchased candy in Texas, but where starburst sells most of their product is Texas. Idk
I thought Snickers too -- the only thing I could come up with it that it gets SO HOT that people end up choosing non-chocolate candies more often to not have to deal with melting. 🤷♀️

tootsie rolls are actually my FAVORITE candy and everyone in my family’s as well haha
I love them too. A lot of people don't realize they come in vanilla and fruit flavor as well and they're really good to mix flavors together.
Also I'm from WA where the favorite candy is apparently tootsie roll pop haha.
They’re definitely an underdog, but I like them as well! Especially the fruity flavors (not the lime though, it leaves an after taste)
I love them! And the fruit and vanilla ones too. Because the texture is almost like a taffy and a caramel had a baby lol.

Having lived in Texas for more than two decades I can tell you right now that the reason we loved Starburst is the same thing that they advertise. The candy just seems to be juicy and the flavors generate saliva, that comes in handy on a hot Texas summer day!

As a sixth grade teacher in Utah, I can confirm that my students are obsessed with Jolly Ranchers (but only certain colors). Interestingly enough, my class last year absolutely LOVED Werther’s Originals and would fight over them in the treat bowl. They also called them “grandma candy” 😂
