That Largemouth alone was worth price of admission. Lol Great job on the Pit. A gorgeous intergrade. Very healthy body weight to boot. Noah, almost every time I have found a Pine on the move (AOR), I set that area up with multiple flip sites of large boards . Almost always turns into home run future flip sites for pines. Including all the Eastern US Pituophis subspecies. Good luck in Texas.
Armadillos are so blind, I once walked up on one in my yard that didn’t know I was there. When it finally noticed me it got spooked. Oddly though the next day I went out in my yard and found the armadillo dead in the same spot so I wonder if it had a heart attack, they don’t have many predators but it was unusual.
Another great video Noah! I think that Pine snake was the angriest snake that I have seen on your channel!! Most of the snakes you find seem to be more chill. I love to fish, so seeing that bass was awesome! I bet it was even more impressive being there. The baby turtle was my favorite turtle of this video.........but it was cool to see them all! Thanks for all the great content and stay safe!! 😄❤️🐬
Queen Snakes ? : When I was a kid in Doraville (1964/65) we used to find lots of queen snakes in the creeks. It doesn't seem like you're finding them much these days. What is the general status of that species? .. thanks for the excellent videos; they're fun to watch and also gives a good idea of how the different species of herps are doing. Congrats on the Pine!
I typically see lots of Queen Snakes in the appropriate habitat during the right time of year (early spring and late winter). That being said, like most snakes and especially those with specialized diets, they’re thought to be declining.
@@NKFherping thanks, glad to know you're still seeing them. I have noticed crayfish in your vids, and the general abundance of herp & fish life in the waters is very good to see.
I have seen queen snakes by a creek near my house in Mississippi. They are at interesting species, mainly eating crawfish. I have also seen glossy crayfish snakes too.
@@handsomedevil4928 we have grass snakes, adders and smooth snakes, as well as slow worms (legless lizards). Grass snakes are usually the most common. On my channel there’s a couple videos with those species 😊
I have never heard a snake make a noise like that! I always thought snake Foley effects were stupid but now I know all those garter snakes and legless lizards they use in movies must be meant to be pine snakes in disguise! Also it was good to see those wee turtles. I found a 22 mm long oval egg by my pond today and I think it must be from a musk turtle or a mud turtle. I’ve never actually seen one of those but I absolutely believe they’re in the pond.
Really enjoyed you finding the pine snake crossing the road. The las one I found was under a guard rail . They are always a great find. I’m glad they’re protected in both Georgia and Florida. I had one area in this state that they were fairly common crossing the roads. I would tell you , but not on this medium . That is , if you’re interested. You may have already been there, you do get around. .keep up the good work!!! 😎👍👍
I live amongst the pines and never seen a pine snake. It's gorgeous. I'm glad you're seeing a few gopher tortoise as well. At one time they were endangered or at least protected. I don't know if they still are.
Some years ago, there was a story in the newspaper about a pine snake in a zoo (Don't know which subspecies.) The staff was concerned because the snake seemed listless and "depressed" (their words.) An X-ray confirmed the unfortunate little fella had swallowed two small lightbulbs left in the enclosure, apparently having mistaken them for eggs. A couple of the zoo's vets realized the snake was going to die anyway, so they decided to do surgery to remove the bulbs. Long story short, the surgery was successful and the snake returned to his normal happy self.
Wow great video. So much content to comment on. But love the pine snake. Such a grumpy little fella . The armadillos where priceless. Thought I could here the porn music in the background. Hahaha
That pine snake looked really cool, but it sure was pissed off. Probably the maddest snake I've seen on your channel this year. Is that normal for pine snakes??
Can you tell me the locations you herp at in Florida I was looking for good locations and was wondering if you have ever herped in my hometown lake city Florida
I understand the pine snake may be related to the bull snake found in Minnesota. I've seen pictures of huge ones, and saw one crawling across a gravel driveway in North Dakota. Neither end was visible, they were in the grass on each side. The thing was huge. Probably feeding on prairie dogs in the area.
I saw a dead snake just yesterday- It was a baby me and my cousion accidently ran it over when we were riding on our four wheeler, It was a hognose, It was kinda like a mix it was orange but it reminded me of a pygmy and somewhat of a water moccasin.
I have a question but how can you tell the difference between the northern water snake and the Water moccasin aka the cottonmouth and I am asking because a lot of people that I know always get afraid when they see the northern water snake and the reason that they are afraid is for some reason they think it’s a Cottonmouth when they don’t live up in my neck of the woods
Hey dude I am in Virginia I am 13 and live on 12 acre farm it is fenced-in all the way around and my ma and my aunt seen it it was 4 foot long and diamonds on its back
That Pine Snake wants a piece of you! If I saw that by my house, I’d be on the way to the hospital. Now I’m scared!! First time! He looks mean!!! Incredible???? Look at that face! That is one mean mean snake! Don’t understand why you are messin’ with it. SCARY 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
PTSD - Pissed Traumatized Snake Syndrome. That beautiful Pine Snake had it. What's the tube/hole on the bottom of its mouth? Did you get hammered moving it? Is that why you filmed no handling?
Totally awesome you found your holy grail, really happy for you but come on man! Stop stressing it out for so long to just repeat yourself and drive home your excitement.
What a pointless comment. If you were *actually* happy for me you would understand, Pine Snakes are incredibly tough and this snake was certainly no worse off after I looked at it for a few minutes. Have you considered nagging at the people in my comments suggesting I kill it instead so you can at least put your negativity to good use?
I dream of seeing a gopher tortoise in the wild. I’ve seen them at wildlife centers but that’s not the same at all. I LOVE turtles, box being my favorites in my area of Georgia. Meriwether County. I’d also LOVE to see an alligator snapper in the wild. Do you ever try to age turtles? The age of box turtles fascinates me. Can you age a gopher tortoise in any way. I’ve read recently that counting scoots is not accurate after 20…. What are your thoughts on that?
Wow...not sure how I missed this one.
Outstanding finds once again!
So glad you found your holy grail! Very nice. Beyond beautiful!
I see Gopher Tortoises all the time here in Central florida I and agree, it never gets old. They're so awesome and cute
When I lived in Ocala. Old gophers was every where,, but there ain't many left now. To many houses and no,dirt roads no more,,,
