This just seemed like the greatest invention since sliced bread. How come it failed to take off?

Digital tapes and the ease of using standard film projectors
The polavision player itself was about 30lbs and if the pod chemicals stayed in the unit on accident there was a terrible smell also the film would shift heavily if not stored properly (like normal 8mm film but slightly faster)
It was a very nice concept but came way too late sadly

So what cheap electronic toy piano did they use in the beginning? Casio PT-0.3?

Its slightly ironic that this is a transfer of home videotape

If Polavision had a magnetic soundtrack like many Super 8 films and home movie equipment had back when this product was released, it might have had some success.
