I think it’s the fact the mig-25 can go mac 2.5 easily and for much longer times than a f-15 which would Never make that speed when loaded with ordinance.

@@Nexsoxs pulling tight maneuvers isn’t required for an interceptor meant to volley off missiles and run meanwhile the saphir-25 was suitable for the high altitude and decent range but the mig-25 would’ve been guided in by ground radars anyway, the Russian mig-25s even had advanced computers linked to the radars that flew the plane itself to the targets with minimal pilot intervention. For its time and what it was designed to do it was very good. Swedish radars even picked up mig-25s as close as 2 miles behind sr-71s well within missile range for the r-40s.
This would be a great opportunity to make a "what if" MiG-25 Variant, maybe for an april fools update along with other "what if" vehicles. It would be a theoretical variant, one made with minor adjustments to its design, like using a titanium alloy instead of the heavy nickel-steel one, slapping it better avionics and tweaking the engines a bit so they don't fucking explode while going mach 3.
That wouldent help much. It's aerodynamic simply are not designed for high manuverabilty. It would most likely enter a flat spin pulling more than 20 degrees aoa.

A deserting Russian pilot escaped the USSR flying one of these, landing it in an American air base in Japan, after that it was bought to light that its large wings were not meant for Manoeuvrability, instead they were to keep the extremely heavy fighter in the air. And even its top speed would cause the engines to overheat in just a few mins. Mustard made a great video on both this plane and the f-15, if you want to hear the full story.
This is indeed true, however in regards to warthunder I don’t think that the reusability or maintainability of your aircraft will matter much when matches don’t last long and you almost always die early in match or don’t return to base
@vladpodolny3143 When America got the Mig-25, they did testing and found thst the bad materials that the Mig 25 was made of could at max pull 2.2 with external fuel tanks which it almost always carried due to the range issues faces by the inefficient engines. Look it up. 2.2 normal load and 4.5 max without those fuel tanks. And at speeds like mach 2.5 max (as any higher would cause the engines to wear down and degrade since they were meant for cruise missiles). That little pull at speeds of mach 2.5 would be around 2 degrees per second max turn which would make it painful to play and a easy target for Amraams and Phoenix missiles.

The US did get a Foxbat from a defector that flew to Japan and landed the plane which the US government took for researching.
The cruising speed for an f15 is normally only 570 mph compared to the mig 25 that averaged at about 1800 mph. Not even speaking of the major difference in altitude.
Issue with adding it to WT. It has no look down radar, meaning it would hug the ground in game and can't fly at speeds faster than about mach 1.3. That combined with using R-40 SARH would just make it a worse Phantom on the Soviet team lol. MiG-31 would be a way better choice IMO The no look down radar was due to the fact it was supposed to intercept high speed and high altitude bombers such as the XB-70, sadly for them the US Switch to a fast and low approach after the unfortunate failure of the XB-70

Considering its engines would literally tear themselves apart at that speed, I think it would honestly be a balanced addition in modern war thunder with engine overheating problems modelled.

Considering its engines would literally tear themselves apart at that speed, I think it would honestly be a balanced addition in modern war thunder with engine overheating problems modelled.
