I was just talking about the TX-1600 yesterday and looking for reviews of it, so glad to see this come out today!
The AX1600i seems to still offer that little bit more with the digital platform and feature adds like software monitoring and selectable multirail, but the TX-1600 is sure up there in terms of performance and it's good having another unit at the top tier to recommend.
Disappointing that Seasonic is still derating units at 50C especially on their halo tier product. Despite the derating I've never actually seen their PSUs have any issues passing hotbox tests at 50C. Just give it a proper operating temp rating, Seasonic!

They did this derating during the mining boom, to protect their name, and they kept it because 12 years of warranty is looking :)

Seasonic's product page now shows 50C temp rating for the TX-1600. Either they've since revised it and increased to 50C or the original 40C rating was an error on the product page.
Either way I'm glad to see it has a proper 50C operating temp rating now.

Impressive PSU, especially considering it's not using GaN like the AXi and Wentai. I find it very hard to recommend though without the proper PCIe 5.0 power support... Pretty easy hackjob to tune the OCP to 2000w and then say look it supports 200% power excursions at 1kw.

I recently bult a new system with this PSU, yes it was overkill for my needs but I have to say, the build quality is fantastic, the biggest thing that caught me by surprise is the weight of it, I was replacing my HX1200i PSU which to me is a good quality unit but the TX feels literally twice the weight.

This very expensive PSU is in my build list for my new computer because of the insane quality of Seasonic. I'm still using my 10 year old Seasonic 1050W SilentSnow PSU. It was pretty expensive.
At the time I remember watching a video by Luke of LTT where he said no one should consider a PSU over 400W, maybe 500W. Again, I'm _still_ using that PSU ten years later. I wonder how many times Luke had to steal a PSU from LTT over the years to match his growing wattage needs.
Oh, and he also said that you should buy a PSU that will be using 90% of the PSUs wattage rating.
🤦🤦‍♂🤦‍♀ Now of course we know LTT is grossly incompetent but I knew it back then, before it was cool.

I just bought a EVGA T2 1600 titanium, my question is will my psu still be good with all the new Atx3.0 and pcie 5 specs coming out this year ?

    • @HardwareBusters
      @HardwareBusters  2 года назад +1

Normally, it won't since it doesn't have a PCIe 5.0 connector. That said, this unit has a high OPP, so it could go up to 450W on a PCIe with an adapter, though.

no. yours is atx 2.4 and will NOT have a connector for 12vhpwr. You wont need it for the new PSU's anyway.

You wanted ATX compliance with burst mode and LLC resonant converter? There. Have ATX compliance with burst mode and LLC resonant converter. 35 millifarads for 1000 watt output... damn.
If you had GAN FETs phase shift without burst mode at high frequency you could do that with like 10 millifarads for 1500 watts and still keep your losses low, even at low loads. Heck, with a fast transformer you could do the same with LLC resonant too if you turn the burst mode off.

Really to bad this psu is not fully ATX 3.0 certified and the PCI-E 5.0 cables are not full function and "only 450 watt"
For my over clocking fun I would want my next psu to support that. But I'm not going to run a GPU in 600 watt mode for gaming. 300-350 is enough for me.
I hope my SS Prime TX-750 is still up to the task. I guess a 7900XT should not be a problem since I could run a 6900XT up to 480 watt without problems. High fps loads are also running fine so for. And otherwise I will just cap the max voltage with more power tool to lower the transient spikes the gpu produces.

    • @HardwareBusters

the fact that the system crashes once you stress the PSU looks suspicious, indeed, but the power levels you mention are not that high for a 750W PSU. Try with another PSU if possible, to see if the problem persists.
