I love this journal so much. The grunginess and the detail speak to my heart. After I watch one of these videos, my mind just goes crazy with ideas. So inspiring! Thanks Barbara.
Wow this grunge journal is so creative. I love how you take a subject each video and add to the journal. It makes it so much easier to put together and not as stressful…to me anyway. Thanks so much!🦋🦋🦋
Barbara, you have created another beautiful journal. Love the pages and variety of paper and fabric. It’s such a great combination of texture, colour and pattern. Love it❤
I love the page with the crosses/plus signs as a hinge. The colors you chose are fantastic. I’m going to use your idea(not as a hinge) on a piece of up-cycled clothing. The beauty of watching others create is the inspiration you can glean to use in all kinds of art on any medium. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us. The journal is fantastic. ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a beautiful journal! You are so much fun to watch, I love hearing your little stories as you create these artsy journals! You always brighten my day 😊
I watched this whole series from start to finish and It was incredible, so inspiring but also so helpful. Thank you so much for sharing with us, I’ve learned so much and will definitely have a go at this. I’ll pop back and comment on all the other videos. Hugs Mandy ❤❤
I was so excited this morning! It’s Sunday. Let’s go see what Barbaras been up to. Lol. I’m so in love with this Journal! Printing on a transparency looks amazing! It takes on the color tones of the page behind it as well as the color of the page it was printed from. This transparency just looks so warm. Love all the gold and using a stapler (so cute) for the paper that won’t glue. Thanks for sparking my creative imagination. Going in for a back procedure in about 8 hrs. So when I get home I’m going to have some fun things lined up to do!! Take care.
I loved your method of 'distributing' your sorted ephemera page by page. It gives the whole book a consistent feel throughout. I've found I can get hung up and fussy on one page for hours when I try to finish it all at once. By the time I get to the next page, my mood has changed, my vision has changed, the flow is interrupted, and the result is bumpy rather than flowing. I can't wait to try out your 'system!' Your result was beautiful!
Barbara, I love this journal. The transparency faces are so cool especially where you put them. Stapling the envelope closed is something I would’ve done too. LOL! TFS! ❤
Barbara: when you are gluing paper or fabric and you are afraid of pages sticking, just put a piece of wax paper to protect it. It just doesn’t stick together. It works for me. Carol from California
Great layering. Love the randomness of it all. To restore your pocket just remove the transparency, open the envelope and staple the photo back on with the envelope open.
Wow! This journal already looks amazing! I was wondering about using the same scraps on every page & if it would look redundant, but it doesn't! There's a continuity about the book, because of doing it this way, without it being repetitive or boring in ANY way to me! I'm really enjoying it! It appeals to my own esthetics! Orderly randomness! Haha! Even everything in straight lines! A girl after my own heart!😊 And I think that what comes naturally to us should be embraced and celebrated!...along with getting outside of our comfort zones on occasion.🙂 Like the speech Luise read to us recently says, we need to be willing to play...and there is no failure in play! Love that! I fear "failing" at art all the time, so I'm going to try to just look at it as play! And, just like the rain washes away some amazing sidewalk chalk creations, we can always throw things out when we're finished and play again tomorrow! Thanks for being such an inspiration for me Barbara! ❤ p.s. How about just pulling the envelope flap out of the staples? You could even hide the holes left in the flap, if you want. 😉🤷 Just a thought...❤
You showed that cool stapler and i went to amazon and typed “funky stapler”. Did not see yours there but omg what a scene i scrolled through :). Good to know such variety exists. This video also inspired me to hand-stitch around some painty-paper squares before gluing them in my collages. I am also slowly accepting the rule of not correcting ‘mistakes’ (stapled shut envelope is an example) Thanks!!
I love the verbal intro to your videos, how you structure each sentence. You are very descriptive, concise and your use of language is welcoming! Well done. I'm a stickler about proper communication, whether speaking or writing. I dont want to figure out what someone "means". I can't relate to hating math, I have always liked it. My career was in accounting. This series is so inspiring, the colours and textures are very creative. You are so talented! 😊 My fall journal and previous one are both coverless ... just cant get into it,😵💫. I'd rather watch you make one!😂
Ooh yummy black paste, I don't have a black one! Great way for using scraps, I've got too many🙈. Yes, I love how maths formulae look but not wired with for understanding them 😄. How do you do your 'signature ' squiggle stitching? 🤷. Grease proof paper between your pages to stop sticking maybe? The transparencies really bring everything to life 😍. Oops 🙈 you Debbi'd the envelope. She's looking awesome😍 and a reminder of the amazing things layering produces. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Oh my goodness! I had the same experience with math as you except it was my mom trying to help and I was in tears. A few years ago I found a word problem that is like what I hear in my head.. It goes like this: "Every time I see a math word problem it looks like this: If I have 10 ice cubes and you have 11 apples, how many pancakes will fit on the roof? Answer: Purple because aliens don't wear hats." It's painful!
Lol 😂 Love the word problem. Don’t worry. You guys weren’t alone. My dad had to witness plenty of tears due to maths problems 😩. And of course I used the “but when am I ever going to need to know this irl” line too. But a couple of years ago, as I was calculating the circumference & radius of a circle so I could divide it equally to make enough gum paste pieces to create a cone as the top element of a carousel cake I was making, I mentally apologised to my maths teachers of the past. Some anyway. I still haven’t used algebra outside of a few simple formulas in an Excel document 🤷♀️
Absolutely Stunning - the fabric - color choices are so beautiful together❤❤......I apologize, I have tried to find which link that shows how you print on transparent sheets, I can't find it down here, tried searching instead, but nope. I'm a newbie who loves to learn everything I can't or don't know.🤔💖
Thanks! It’s in Thai video where I share the materials I’m using for this journal. Around min 12:30: ruclips.net/video/E5QvWHPXjkg/видео.htmlsi=jL7dhx1XaXn8MzbV
I can truly understand your hatred for math word problems...I also hated the word problems too, almost failed Geometry....even though, the printed formulas are cool...............😻
Ok I’m all caught up now! Question….the piece of black card stock you ran through the embossing folder with the alphabet letters, what did you use to make it yellow? I tried yellow distress oxide but it just soaked in. Thanks!

Unglaublich schön.......diese grungy Farbigkeit.......Wahnsinn ❣
I love all the layers you are adding. So much to capture your interest on each page! Love it Barbara

This journal is so delicious! The layers came out fantastic. It is so arsty. This is stunning. I love following the creation of this journal ❤
It's turning out so beautiful
Goals in life to some day be able to create such beautiful collages ❤
Love this layering! Thank you for sharing.❤
I love this journal.
😊well i love it. You can always take the staples out of the flap on envelope and push down staples to keep attached to first layer. Take care.

Love how this has turned out Barbara! So beautiful!
It's really coming together Barbara. Thank you for the layering lesson, that's one thing I struggle with at times.🙂❤️
Happy to help! ❤️
Barbara, I love this journal. The transparency faces are so cool especially where you put them. Stapling the envelope closed is something I would’ve done too. LOL! TFS! ❤

Math is not my friend either, lol. That journal is truly a work of art. I especially love the transparencies.
Math is just cruel and medieval! 😂 Love all the layered grunge! Hugs 🤗❤️🧮
Great layering. Love the randomness of it all. To restore your pocket just remove the transparency, open the envelope and staple the photo back on with the envelope open.
Stunning as usual, I love all the layers ❤
The transparencies are so cool!
I never would have thought to be that random! The transparencies add so much. I don't know how I missed that video! TFS
loving this series Barbara - to stop your fabric sticking to the next page, put a piece os waxed/greaseproof paper between xx

Yes, that’s exactly what I hear for math problems too! 😂❤️
And who put the alphabet inside a math problem? To this day I swear I passed algebra because my math teacher took pity on me.@@allisonjames2923
This is amazing to me. I freaking love it so so much❤. You are teaching me so much. Thank you for sharing and inspiring
You are so welcome ❤️

Lovely! 💜 Maybe you can open the envelope on the side?
special pages! I do wonder how the unrest of the many colors, shapes and materials ultimately calm down and become a unity... I'm curious!

Барбара, расскажите, пожалуйста, какое ьудет назначение у этого блокнота? Для записи или просто произведение коллажного искусства?
It’s art and not meant to journal in.
Ok I’m all caught up now! Question….the piece of black card stock you ran through the embossing folder with the alphabet letters, what did you use to make it yellow? I tried yellow distress oxide but it just soaked in. Thanks!
It’s a mica stain by Tim Holtz.

Barbara, do you ever use two-sided tape?
I do sometimes, but I like the wiggle room glue gives you as you position your paper.
Couldn’t you attach that transparent photo to the pocket with some washi tape? Or maybe washi doesn’t hold that type of paper well enough?
Washi is not a strong enough tape.
