That sounds great Paul. I sat in some Thomas Payne recliners at last year's RV show. I didn't get those, but it got me thinking...hmmm...recliners. So far my RecPro experience has been great. I appreciate your feedback and kind words. It means alot. Thx.
We installed the RecPro recliners 2 years ago. The material is already starting to split on the back of one chair. RecPro would not stand behind their product but wanted to sell us a replacement back for $150. We declined that figuring that that one would probably do the same after awhile. Instead, we are having covers made for the backs at a local upholstery shop with color coordinated durable material. I suggest anyone using RecPro products keep an eye out for splitting fabric and contact RecPro before the warranty is up.
I tried to look through the comments so I'm sorry if this is a repeat question, but didn't see if you put the width of your door? It looked like it was fairly tight going through the door. Great post showing the option of adding outlets for the power version. Thank you.
I may have messed up not ordering the powered version. I forgot you were using that type. I expect to remove the couch and install ours, early next week. I was under the impression that they would need to be fastened down to the floor but, unless I missed it, yours simply sits on the floor without being fastened to the floor? Thanks for all your wonderful videos and advice too. Good job!
I'm very much enjoying your videos about your renovations. Keep them coming! We have decided to do the same for our 10yr old class C. Question...where did you take the old couch and dinette for disposal?
You could always take it the dump or try to sell it. I still have the couch, dinette cushions, and some panels stored. The rest of the dinette frame was burned.
Hi Brian, You described having recliners in the RV exactly right, "A game changer". I wouldn't be without them. You will soon say how did we stay in the RV without them. Your a DIY'er after my own heart. You pay attention to detail. I even noticed you twisted the wire before putting on the wire nuts---Bravo. Stay safe, Lou
Great video. Question: I would think that the recliners would have to be to the floor. Are you concerned about them shifting when you drive down the road?
Thanks for the video. I assume those are wall huggers. Did you cycle them to full recline before attaching to floor to make sure backs aren't dragging on wall?
Yes they are wall huggers. I extended them fully a few times and adjusted the position so they wouldn't scrape the walls/blinds. I haven't attached them to the floor permanently yet. See the pinned comment at the top.
By chance did you put the dinette slide in without the carpet on the floor between the dinette and the couch? I want to remove that carpet and put in vinyl plank but not sure if the slide out needs the carpet to slide on. I have the exact same motorhome and any help is appreciated. Thanks Matt
Hey Brian, can you tell me if those recliners are "zero clearance"? When you reclined, it appears as they are as the seat moved forward, but it's hard to tell from the video. How much clearance did you have to leave behind the head of the seat to allow them to move? This is definitely on my to-do list this summer!!
Hi Brian. Thanks for the video. I'm looking at replacing my sofa with these. Can you tell us what the actual model you purchased is? Probably the Charles 70"? Again, thanks.
Hi Brian, I watched your video last year and it motivated me to do this. We have the same basic floor plan so I love ALL your videos!!! Finally got around to buying the recliners and pulling out the dinette! (what else would I do during a Pandemic?) Now just waiting for them to be delivered. I do have one question, is there room under the base for the wires you had to not be Pinched? I have wires on both sides and am hoping not to have to move them. Thanks for all you do!
this is great info and thanks for doing this, Do you know the depth of your slide from the inside wall to the end of the slide? Mine is only 33" and RecPro's website states 36" is required. I am OK if I have to push it up against the wall when the slide is not extended and I would pull the recliners out when the slide is extended, I have to make sure the frame will fit on the slide when the recliners are pushed back to the wall, thus the reason for my question
@@RVwithTito thanks for the response, do you think the frame would fit on a 33" slide if the recliners were pushed all the way back to the outside wall?
@@RVwithTito From your experience do you think the RecPro Recliners would fit on a 33" slide if I pushed the recliners all the way back against the wall. This would be what I would do when the slide is in, when I get to a destination I would open the slide and then pull the recliners out from the wall. I just need to make sure the frame of the recliners will fit on my 33" slide when not being used. My slide floor is above the main floor when pulled in. Thanks
Love your vids! One question, though. My wife and I have rather short legs. Can you tell me what the measurement is from the backrest to the front of the seat? If they're too long, we look like little kids with our legs poking out. . . Thanks!
Hi Brian, I learned a lot from your video. I am remodeling my 19 years old RV and I see in this video you painted over the wall paper. Is there any issue with it and what kind of paint you used. Please advise. Thanks
Getupability rating is pretty good. Since they sit on the slide out it's adding another 3 inches or so off the floor. So standing right up and out is pretty smooth.

Hi, It's tine to replace my theater seating in my Montana High Country. I would really appreciate an update on your RecPro seats. Comfort, durability and most importantly getupability. Thanks, Gary
Update! We have had our RecPro recliners for well over a year now and we are full time so they get a lot of use. As far as "getupability I would rate them fair. The fabric is s very good quality. Our problem is they have gotten a little soft on the bottom cushion which allows us to feel a bar from the back cushion, it's pretty uncomfortable. After talking to RecPro customer service and coordinating a shipping address they have replaced them both. I can't ask for better customer. service.
Yes. I am going to try and bypass the AC and power it from DC. The motor runs on 24 volt, so I'll need to get a step-up converter. I'll keep you posted.
Really enjoy your informative videos, I was wondering if you mounted the chair to the floor. If so how did you do it. I will definitely need to mount it to the slide because of the overhang.
(Update) Bolting the Recliners Down: I secured them to the floor with a couple 2" electrical conduit clamps on the rear frame. There are a couple holes in the frame where I could bolt them to the floor, but I like the clamp on solution better.

I had a feeling....I figured that to be the case. Once again...great video! I'm looking to do something similar, however I have an older class c without a slide and all my electrical and plumbing is located under one seat, and the fresh water tank is under the other one.
Thanks for the video and tip on source for the sofa, I'm getting ready to tackle the same. On the lighting, my class-C has a 12 vdc sconce lamps on the back wall, one on each side of the window, which will be above the back of the sofa. Perfect for reading or anything. It also has a 120 vac outlet on the same back wall so that part is also done. Thanks
Forgot to add a question. Since my crappy dinette is the only other bed beside bedroom, when I lose that my son is out of luck when he's with us. In your opinion when you have them reclined all the way out are they suitable/intended as sleeping positions? I went to the site and found jackknife and pull-outs, but neither recline, that's kind of a buzz killer. Thanks again.
QUESTION… PLEASE HELP… My fuse box is currently located under my jack knife sofa. I’d love to get recliners. Do you think there is enough room under the recliner to leave the fuse box under it? I have a class C much like this one. Thanks!
Hard to say. There are a lot of moving parts underneath. If you can reposition the fuse box you might find a spot that works, but it's doubtful because it needs to be in a spot where you can access it. Hmmm
I want to do this too but I'm concerned about covering our dining room window. It looks like you had/have a window too. Did the chairs cover your window?
The overlapped the bottom edge of the window by a couple inches or so...enough to keep the roller shades from moving. We don't have that RV anymore so I don't have exact measurements. The website should state the height dimensions.
I'd like to ask how your recliners are holding up. There are some bad reviews on Recpro and peeling of the materials used on chairs, dinettes and jack knife sofa's
Looks great! How did you secure them to the floor? You're usually pretty thorough. Did I miss that part or are you waiting to do that until you finish up some other things in case you need to move them?
Came out very well, put led light (table light) those lights very cool shape and lots of color variety maybe I missed your earlier videos,my question: how you eat without dining table , what do you have across the chairs?
Excellent job so far. I got my reading lights from a boat supply store. They have all kinds of map and bunk lights. After you find what you like at a marine store, check Amazon and EBay for them, might save some money on them.
Your videos are so well done! This led my wife and I to purchase the same model. Love them! Installed in 10 minutes. Debating on to secure. Thing maybe Velcro- or just electrical hold downs. Thanks again
Hi Tito. I bought a manual loveseat from RecPro about 6 years ago. It is extremely comfortable BUT the material and stitching is falling apart. We only camp about 6 months out of the year on weekends and don't use the loveseat much. I thought it was a little pricy when I bought it but I disliked the loveseat that came with our 2018 Travel Trailer. I hope you have better luck with durability
I've been looking forward to this video because I intend to install the 67" version of these recliners in my rig once it warms up outside. Originally, I was considering the manual version but the powered version is pretty sweet. I noticed they are 120v AC, is there a manual override in case you are boondocking and don't want to power up an inverter just to recline? It looked like you plugged in a DC transformer for each base so they are actually DC motors. I wonder if they make a DC hardware option?
I don't think there's a manual override or DC option (from RecPro). I run my inverter most of the time, so no problem for me. The motor runs on 24 volt so I plan on installing a 12-24v step-up converter like this (amzn.to/2CQwjep) so I can power it from my batteries. I'll be sure to post something if/when I get that working.
You can also buy rechargeable battery packs for recliners. They are easy to install, just attach inline with existing cords. They can hold a charge for up to a week or so with moderate use but could recharge every time you plug in or from an inverter while you are parked. This is what I ordered. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07G91FMLQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
One thing I admire about you Tito is that you always use the word "We" I always do that too, make sure my wife knows we're doing this together even if she's only watching me build it
Thanks for the suggestion. I've got several saved on Amazon already that are small with dimmers. Haven't made a final decision yet though, but probably one on each side mounted near the top of the side wall.
@@RVwithTito I've I stalled three of these bullet-style lamps. The dimmer and brightness levels, along with the swivel range make them very useful. Super easy to install!
I didn’t see you screw/bolt down chairs. Not necessary? Did you pull electric from another outlet? 60” wide space? Lastly, would you use Recpro seating again?
Looks really good! I can’t wait to put in our couch it’s been sitting in the garage for the last couple weeks. You motivated me to get it done before the Super bowl.
Very nice upgrade and definitely will increase comfort in the RV - well said! I look forward to doing something like this in my Class C in the future. Thanks for sharing.
That overhead lighting - I would love to have dimmable LED laid down in a cove moulding so it was indirect uplighting right there. Was at Quarzite last week, vendors there really didn't have anything perfect out of the box.
I'm a late comer. I'm putting the same recliners (not electric) in my class c. I like the various ideas on how to secure the seats to the floor. Another question I have for everyone, do you use seatbelts? Thanks. Great video BTW.
Great vid as usual. We changed the recliners couch in our new Crossroad cruiser. They were impossible to operate and weighed a ton. We upgraded to a lighter model and easier to use. We will be getting tied of the dinette set next. It’s heavy and not easy to use.
That looks great! A few years ago we had removed a dinette in our travel trailer and put in a reclining loveseat. I was very nice to be in the trailer and still as comfortable as home! Hope you enjoy!
My worthless jack-knife loveseat met its demise last summer. I ripped it out and replaced with with 2 euro-style recliners I got from RecPro. I ordered the recliners at 6am on a Monday morning and the Fedex van showed up Tuesday afternoon at 3pm. Could not believe the service and how well the recliners are working out for us. My regret not doing this 3 years ago.
Thank you for sharing these videos. Eventually I plan to do some upgrades to my RV. I did notice that it didn't seem you connected the chairs to the floor at all. Is that not necessary?
Hi Brian. Been watching your videos and have seen the great work you’ve done. Really cool. We’ve been looking at the same RecPro recliners. Just wondering how they’ve been holding up for you? Thanks. We’ve subscribed to your site and look forward to more videos. Thanks again, John & Vickie.
Thanks for this video. I just took out my hide a bed for recovering of the disgusting Georgetown upholstery. I ordered the re pro recliners! Cancel the reupholstery. It was quoted at $1,500. The recliners are a better deal. Sorry I went to Amazon, not your link. Oh well.
Excellent work! Super 77 is good stuff. I used to use it all the time when doing headliners on old Beetles. Good adhesion, but still repositionable as wrinkles needed "adjusting".
Brian, those recliners look awesome and great job on all your videos. Two questions: 1. Were you able to bypass the AC to power the recliners directly from your battery? I'm concerned about getting power recliners and not being plugged into a power source. 2. How do you think the Rec Pro recliners compare to the Thomas Payne recliners?
The RecPro site says 197 lbs. They didn't seem that heavy, but I had them in pieces. I'm actually planning on getting rid of my 4K generator (located below the slide), so that should free up 300+ pounds. The couch I took out was actually pretty heavy too.
Brian, how much room did you have inside your slide opening? I see your chairs are listed as 70"...is that a 'true' size? I've got exactly 70" inside my slide walls...69.5" if I account for the trim on each corner of the slide opening. Thanks for the help...
My opening is exactly 71". The chair width is right at 69" plus a little extra cushion in the arm rest that would take it to 70". They could be squished down to fit 69" without looking or feeling weird. Hope that helps. I'm sitting in them as I'm writing this 😉
@@RVwithTito Is the slide 36" deep? That's what I have and have ordered the 67" powered set. Another user said they fit fine in the 36" slide, but I'm still wondering how it will impact with the window shades... thinking of installing mini blinds there?
I swapped out the single swivel chair with a Rec Pro swivel recliner. Love the chair but first long trip it de-assembled itself as 6 screws fell out going down the road. I'll use some lock-tite and hopefully prevent further issues. Still planning on the recliner swap out, just need more lock-tite.... Interesting how you take a RV and make it what you want. I've told RV salesmen over the years, it's obvious RV designers aren't into RV camping.
Thanks for video. Removed and sold our sofa-bed. Now, to order recliners. Please tell me the RecPro item number you purchased. I assume you roughed in the 110v to the recliner area, did you video the AC wiring? Although I did note some comments on 12v operation, I am concerned about using only AC to operate the recliners. Can one manually operate the chairs without using the electric switch? Thanks.
Thanks for your videos. I have a Jayco Greyhawk 2007 that we are remodeling. I ordered the same sofa today. I am considering connecting the wiring for the chairs to my inverter so that I have power while traveling or not on shore power. The other thought is to do a battery backup system. Did you consider this. My understanding is they will not recline without ac power. Thanks, Larry
I don't understand why folks use the crappy fake wood floors as far as the sofa why spend top dollar go to Bob's or discount furniture . the motorized parts run on low voltage. Build in mounts and bolt in... I still don't understand the crappy floor stuff I have 3\4 " hickory and oak I ripped from a basketball court and from a house and put in a classic airstream then doing brown leather not faux on the entire tiny trailer.
Very nice upgrade! How long till ya buy another for your home TV room? LOL! On/Off switch or do they always draw power? Painting? Did you need a primer? Sorry if ya covered & I missed! Thx!!
Thanks! Currently measuring to order our own recliner. Your positioning looks very similar to mine. Couch I want will take up entire space. I don’t see a gap between your couch and side wall. Any problem with rubbing when reclining?

I'll bolt them down later (see pinned comment at the top). These are 70" wide. There is also a 67" wide one.
Hmmm
Are the recliners bolted down to the floor? I didn’t notice that happening. I want to remove my sofa and replace with recliners as well.
Yes. I put a couple conduit clamps on the back.
Still in great shape. No issues really. I use the cleaner and protector spray every few months. I'd get them again.
Looks great! How did you secure them to the floor? You're usually pretty thorough. Did I miss that part or are you waiting to do that until you finish up some other things in case you need to move them?
You nailed it. I haven't yet, but I will. I added a comment at the top explaining.
How do you fasten the recliners down to the slide out so they don’t bounce around when you’re driving.
I used a metal conduit clamp underneath on the rear part of the frame. It also helps when you sit up, so it doesn't rock forward. Good luck.
Came out very well, put led light (table light) those lights very cool shape and lots of color variety maybe I missed your earlier videos,my question: how you eat without dining table , what do you have across the chairs?
I'm also building a desk/table/tv-stand on the other side. I'll also create a little clip on table so we can also eat from the recliners. TBD.
Good job. You are very talented. Can't wait to see the end result!
Those recliners look perfect. I'm so jealous.
Excellent job so far. I got my reading lights from a boat supply store. They have all kinds of map and bunk lights. After you find what you like at a marine store, check Amazon and EBay for them, might save some money on them.
Thanks for suggestion. I do the same. I've got a West Marine close by too.
Your videos are so well done! This led my wife and I to purchase the same model. Love them! Installed in 10 minutes. Debating on to secure. Thing maybe Velcro- or just electrical hold downs. Thanks again
The hold downs also help it from rocking when you get up. So I recommend something more than Velcro.
Great video as usual. Problem is...you have created a “Honey Do” list for me. LOL #BHGT18
Uh oh. Sorry about that 😃
One thing I admire about you Tito is that you always use the word "We" I always do that too, make sure my wife knows we're doing this together even if she's only watching me build it
We thank you for your kind words.
I couldn't agree more.
I have noticed that too.
I sometimes think it is only "we" kinda people even notice.
Map lights .. Reading lights... something nice small..

How did you attach the couch? What trim did you use for the bottom corner of the slide near the floor?
What about securing then to the floor. They don't move when driving?
I didn’t see you screw/bolt down chairs. Not necessary? Did you pull electric from another outlet? 60” wide space? Lastly, would you use Recpro seating again?
Question, how did you anchor the seats to the floor?
Nice work! I think as we age, our comfort level increases.
Yes. We wanted something we could fall asleep in. These fit the bill.
Looks really good! I can’t wait to put in our couch it’s been sitting in the garage for the last couple weeks. You motivated me to get it done before the Super bowl.
Haha. Get busy Jared :) I've had those big boxes in my garage for the last couple months. I'm glad to have the space back.
Very nice upgrade and definitely will increase comfort in the RV - well said! I look forward to doing something like this in my Class C in the future. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah. We're pretty excited about it and looking forward to the finished product.
thanks for sharing I did the samething I really enjoy the comfort better than the dinenet
did you have to use primer over your wallpaper
I'm sure we will too
That overhead lighting - I would love to have dimmable LED laid down in a cove moulding so it was indirect uplighting right there. Was at Quarzite last week, vendors there really didn't have anything perfect out of the box.
I'm looking for a dimmable option too. Yup. Rarely is there a perfect out of the box solution.
I'm a late comer. I'm putting the same recliners (not electric) in my class c. I like the various ideas on how to secure the seats to the floor. Another question I have for everyone, do you use seatbelts? Thanks. Great video BTW.
I don't use seat belts. Personal choice. Never used them in the dinette either in 13 years.
Great vid as usual. We changed the recliners couch in our new Crossroad cruiser. They were impossible to operate and weighed a ton. We upgraded to a lighter model and easier to use. We will be getting tied of the dinette set next. It’s heavy and not easy to use.
Change is good!
That looks great! A few years ago we had removed a dinette in our travel trailer and put in a reclining loveseat. I was very nice to be in the trailer and still as comfortable as home! Hope you enjoy!
That's our goal...to be as comfortable as home.
That's awesome. My recliners came pretty quick too. Glad your loving yours.
Thank you for sharing these videos. Eventually I plan to do some upgrades to my RV. I did notice that it didn't seem you connected the chairs to the floor at all. Is that not necessary?
Check the update I pinned to the top. I'll bolt them down later.
Hi Brian. Been watching your videos and have seen the great work you’ve done. Really cool. We’ve been looking at the same RecPro recliners. Just wondering how they’ve been holding up for you? Thanks. We’ve subscribed to your site and look forward to more videos. Thanks again,
John & Vickie.
Hey guys. They're doing great. Check out my new video coming out in a couple hours. I'll show you how they're doing.
Thanks for this video. I just took out my hide a bed for recovering of the disgusting Georgetown upholstery. I ordered the re pro recliners! Cancel the reupholstery. It was quoted at $1,500. The recliners are a better deal. Sorry I went to Amazon, not your link. Oh well.
Yeah. New recliners sounds like the better deal. Enjoy!
Nice mod Brian! Dinettes are often a huge waste of space with poor back support. TV table does the trick for the 10 or 15 minutes hat you eat!
Totally agree. It served us adequately through the years as long as we added pillows for better support.
Excellent work! Super 77 is good stuff. I used to use it all the time when doing headliners on old Beetles. Good adhesion, but still repositionable as wrinkles needed "adjusting".
Agreed. It comes in pretty handy for a lot of things.
So Brian, you have an inverter so you don't have to either be hooked up to shore power or have a generator on to make these move?
Yes. I have an inverter. I'm also going to try and bypass the AC and power these from my batteries.
Brian, those recliners look awesome and great job on all your videos.
Two questions:
1. Were you able to bypass the AC to power the recliners directly from your battery? I'm concerned about getting power recliners and not being plugged into a power source.
2. How do you think the Rec Pro recliners compare to the Thomas Payne recliners?
Man those are going to be soooo nice when traveling. The remodeling is going great! Sweet upgrade..
We're really looking forward the maiden voyage after the updates are done.
I am not Neil , looks nice and comfortable , bet you can sleep in those recliners ?
Yes you can. Yes I have :)
How are the recliners? Thinking about the 3 recliner sofa.
They are awesome. My friend Jared @ All About RVs channel installed the triple recliner sofa in his 5th wheel. You should check out his install video.
Looks great.
That does that setup weigh ?
The RecPro site says 197 lbs. They didn't seem that heavy, but I had them in pieces. I'm actually planning on getting rid of my 4K generator (located below the slide), so that should free up 300+ pounds. The couch I took out was actually pretty heavy too.
@@RVwithTito
It is looking good!
Thank you for the info!
Brian nice job, you make it look so professional. Very strong 💪
Thanks!
Did you bolt or secure the chairs? I miss that part.
Not yet, but I will. See pinned comment at top.
Nice job!
Not secured to the floor? No seat belts? I can understand that in a trailer but not a class C. Good vid but missing those two items IMO.
Yes. They are secured to the floor. I did that after making the video.
Do they make a larger set of these I would like to replace my L shaped sofa
The have several pieces of furniture components on their website that you can piece together.
Awesome work Brian! That is an awesome set up you got there. Enjoy it
Thanks! We're lovin it.
Would love to find those cup holders for my existing RV recliners for the lighted LED ring and the USB charging port. Very cool!!
Haven't checked, but I'm wondering if you can just get the cup holders. That would be cool.
I year late, and not exact, but here you go. www.recpro.com/usb-lighted-cup-holder-pair-for-12-center-rv-furniture-console/
Just a question how much space did you live in the back so that the recliner does not rub the back wall?
3 inches
Thanks Brian
Taking our dinnete out for theatre seating also, ty for good info
Are the recliners 12 volt or did you have to setup the wiring?
They operate on 120VAC not DC.
Great ideas, thanks
You bet!
Cool mod, nice video. Nice to see that your wife help with the color
On some things, it's better to get her input before rather than after if you get my gist ;)
Hehehehe YES
