I was blessed with two masters in vocational school(45 years ago) who spent 4 years teaching me attitude. After that, the rest was up to me. I know a master when i see one, and you my friend are among the best. Thanks for a great video.
Nice in the sca I used to do stone masonry for a hobby and made scene parts for the battle field battles and made our property look medieval and nice. I also made ammo for our trebuchet lol

He was supposed to say that when you place the stone on the wall youve knocked enough off the backend so as not to fuck yourself or your builiding m8s out of room on the wall you always want your stone feeding into the middle alot of folk are dicks about this and can leave you a few inches to work with if you let them.

Wasn't there something about never hitting on a hammer with another hammer because of chips breaking of and flying around like shrapnel?
Stone hammers are designed for this, regular hammer is not, different face hardening.

@@joejankovics3863if the face you are hitting is softened then you can hit them with no issues. Many smiths of different kinds soften faces of hammers to remake them into specific tools.

Unless your hammers a stamped SOFT, don't go hitting one hammer against another, they do shatter, I have seen the results of it happening, the guy needed plastic surgery to his face.

you should never strike hammers together because when hardened steel shatters it does so with tremendous force, I have shrapnel in my leg to prove it

yes usually due to how hard the metals have been made by the tempering process but i imagine that these hammers have been made specifically for this purpose if so then i bet the faces are annealed to make them soft / they only hardened the pointy bit knowledge shared could the internet work?

Because Two hammers are never the same constitution EXACTLY, so one is usually a little softer than the other and maybe at a slightly different temperature. Additionally it depends on the enrgy levels in the blow whicjh ai a function of veleocity,and the angle of incidence but this does may stop them from chipping. When they chip the shards come off at high velocity and are very ragged and sharp and if one is close enough they can also be hot. For your satisfaction I was educated at Oxford and graduated with a masters in metallurgy and material science. I am currently employed in the UK at a government research facility on metal technology. So whats all this crap about an abusive reply, are you a sensitive soul ?
