  • Finished videos and photos of my Osprey build. Added navigation and strobe lighting, motors, mini MP3 audio, and rotor tip lighting. Lighting installation was pretty straight forward. Motor installation was difficult with three subsequent motor failures, which required disassembly, repair and reassembly. Not pretty. I decided to add a power cart to this diorama as it was going to hide the wiring - somewhat. So I ran the wiring from the aircraft to the powercart and then down to the underside. Rotor tip lighting took a bit of thinking over many nights. In the end the simplest and cheapest solution was a roll of luminescent 10mm tape. Results were amazing. The Italeri model was quite old and had many gaps to contend with, though the end result is pretty cool, especially the night shots. :-) Onwards to the next project.

5435! I built that Osprey!! Like the real aircraft! 165435 was an LRIP MV-22B Osprey built at Bell's Military Aircraft Assembly Center in February -Oct/November 1999. 165435 is now a static ground training article never to fly again. 😞

It actually sat in my cupboard for a few years before I came up with the vision of adding all the gizmos to the build.
