I am 82 years old and a former Baptist minister and the son of a former Baptist minister. We both with our families joined this the Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 50 years ago. Joseph Smith was truly the prophet of Jesus Christ and we have prophets today. Truly we are blessed with the Fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our families were sealed in the Temples of Jesus Christ. What joy we have awaiting us when we unite again. My wife and I were married 63 years ago and sat together on the school bus. She has last stages of Alzheimer's in the nursing home, she is an angel and by bride forever.
I have close kin that are Southern Baptist's, good people. Thank you for sharing your story and testimony brother. I feel the Spirit of Christ as I read your words. Joseph Smith is a real and true prophet of our Lord.
Being raised in the church and losing my faith a couple years ago it brings me peace in knowing that I can atone for my transgressions and that God will forgive me. I feel that this song and reading through the book of mormon again and feeling the spirit I haven't felt in such a long time has really brought me closer with God. I am thankful that Jesus died for my sins so that I may repent and be accepted like a run away child. God bless you all.
“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done. Joseph Smith Jr.”
Many times we must have faith in another person. Of course you have faith in God.....a Prophet receives inspiration and revelation directly from God. You can have faith in God and in the Prophet. It is a bit different in meaning, but appropriately applied both ways!
You raise a long time concern over the identity and need of prophets. I would highly recommend Elder Oaks's talk, "two lines of communication", it really helps illuminate the understanding of why and how we can have a strong personal relationship with God while still following a Prophet and modern apostles whose calling it will always be to maintain order and receive revelation for the church as a whole.
I left the mormon church . One of the biggest regrets of my life this church spoke so much truth in a world full of chaos . I've been trying to get baptized again after leaving and removing my name from the records . I never experienced such peace . Growing up I don't understand . Now as an adult I understand completely now
Hi, thank you for tuning in and sharing your comment. We hope you know you are loved and needed, and always welcome at church. Visit comeuntochrist.org?cid=42001274 to find a Church unit or meetinghouse near you, or to request a visit from missionaries.
W. W. Phelp also left the church for a time but later returned to full fellowship and wrote the lyrics of this hymn as a tribute to his martyred Brother Joseph.
I am very thankful for this song. When I hear it, I feel like Im marching into war. I feel invincible and that I can do anything. This song brings me so much peace and comfort. I certainly feel the spirit when I listen or sing this song.#givethanks
Actually, you won't "march into war". But you are perfectly happy to send the young sons of weeping mothers to get cut down by machine gun fire. Is that what you are? Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.
My baptism was September 18, 2021. I chose My Country Tis of Thee for the opening, How Great Thou Art for the intermediate, and closed with this one. It's a beautiful modification to Scotland the Brave.
Thank for this wonderful song from Germany, he is our prophet, thank our heavenly father for Joseph Smith, since 29 years i' am a member of our church, it ist church of the Lord
Christian Toledo-Peluso I am in my last year in primary, and for our primary program, we got to sing Praise to the Man like this, and it was very powerful. It goes to show how much the Spirit was in the room that day. Never doubt the Gospel, my friends.
Yes, we shall continue praising our Prophet Joseph Smith no matter how people's different views that we've worship him. Praising and worshipping are different.
Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer. Blessed to open the last dispensation, Kings shall extol him, and nations revere. [Chorus] Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain. Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer the hero again. 2. Praise to his mem’ry, he died as a martyr; Honored and blest be his ever great name! Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins, Plead unto heav’n while the earth lauds his fame. 3. Great is his glory and endless his priesthood. Ever and ever the keys he will hold. Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom, Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old. 4. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven; Earth must atone for the blood of that man. Wake up the world for the conflict of justice. Millions shall know “Brother Joseph” again.

This really sounds similar to Scotland the Brave and I’m not complaining about it. Anyways, I testify that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and restored the true church upon the earth presided over by Jesus Christ.
Giving praise to good people is one thing. This is praise towards a prophet whom many believe (myself included) was called to improve, clarify, and spread the teachings of Christ and restore the authority to do so. Worship is completely different and reserved for the Father, via worshipping his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Amazing! Praise the Almighty!!! ❤
I confirm your testimony! I am so sorry about your bride. Alzheimer's is brutal. I took care of my Papa as he battled it.
Thank You for your words and experience brother You inspírate our Life's 😊

Thank you so much for this. I needed to hear exactly what your wrote thank you.
We could never atone for our own sins. Our righteous acts are like "filthy rags."
@@truthnotliesBelief in Christ is one thing. A noun. Faith in Christ is another. A verb. Faith in Christ compels us to do good.
Played this song during a sleepover with ma boys, what a bop

Amen!
Amen!
Millions shall know brother Joseph again ❤❤❤❤
This song helps me have faith in the prophets that God has called.
Your faith must always be in God. Not prophets.

War as in killing people? Very odd
Had this one for my baptism. Which was done in the Shoshone river Wyoming!
Awesome! I live in Wyoming and was baptized in Worland.
That's really cool and I hope to live on the Wyoming and Utah border.
God be with you.
I had a different piece being played at my baptism but I should've had this one play instead.

"Scotland the Brave" is a very powerful tune but add the Joseph Smith poem to it and it brings tears to my eyes. Hail to the prophet!
This is the only time I've ever heard this tune without bagpipes. I hardly recognize it.
Death can not conquer that Hero again ( Brother Joseph) i testify of this truth 🙏

Joseph Smith. Brigham Young. Two unassuming New Englanders who took on the world. One of them is my great grandfather
Hoping to sing this version for Stake Conference in Kuna, Idaho on March 15. Hoping to honor this beautiful version.
2:22-2:27. My favorite line in the hymn
Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of hesven

It was based off of Scotland the Brave lol
I hope this one made the cut in the new hymn book. Beautiful.
Shouldn’t the line “millions shall know Brother Joseph again” be changed to “billions”? Millions already know him.
It was written in 1839 or so
Not active anymore but good lord does motab rock or what?
Faithful and true he will enter his kingdom !
Thank you ! Family and WMBA at that time:)
I'm Brigham's 4th great grandson. I'm a Mormon boy
Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of The Lord.
To our prophet! Thomas S. Monson
You gotta hand it to The Man!
Death cannot conquer our hero again
We will know Brother Joseph again
😊
Mingling with gods
Praise to the Man
My mom died. That was my tie to Brigham
Psalm 86:12
Do you Mormons really believe it's okay to sing about a man like that?
That kind of Praise is reserved for Jesus Christ only!
The song does praise Jesus and God as well because Joseph only accomplished what he did through their guidance, council, and help.
Giving praise to good people is one thing. This is praise towards a prophet whom many believe (myself included) was called to improve, clarify, and spread the teachings of Christ and restore the authority to do so.

Aww... President Monson is in the ending of this video.
Wow!
