- Former Hyundai WRC works driver Hayden Paddon competed on Leadfoot Festival with quite the unique machine, a GSX-R750 powered Cross Kart produced by portuguese company SEMOG. Displaying some impressive speed and benefitting from a some misfortunes from other competitors it ended up placing 2nd Overall on the event and breaking the 50 second barrier, posting a blisteringly quick 49.86sec.
The SEMOG is originally built in Portugal, with this particular unit being fine-tuned and developed by Hayden´s own Paddon RallySport team at his Highlands Motorsport Park base. It weighs only 300kg thanks to its tubeframed chassis, all being moved by 160Hp/14.000Rpm from the Suzuki GSX-R 750 motorbike motor.
It is an incredibly simple machine, built with easy maintenance in mind, although featuring many of the bits that every good Rally Car needs, like
hydraulic brakes, handbrake, adjustable suspension and pretty much what is a 6-Speed Sequential Gearbox thanks to the adaptation of the motorkbike transmission.
It's all about that power to weight. Man that looks fun.

@Grimmy Grim Grim It's also the most dynamic uphill course in the world. A bit of understeer is acceptable, but yeah, he's a bit light in the front. No front splitter and exposed wheels are bad for aero. Love the rake, the wing, the diffuser. It all came together for an awesome package... but yeah, maybe just front canards to keep the front planted in those high speed corners.
By nature, cross karts are loose at the front. Every video of these things shows that.

No, not really. The perfect car would be lower, have stiffer suspension and wouldn't understeer like a bitch.
Add another couple of kg and put guards over the fronts of the wheels unless you need them exposed to generate lift/cool the tyres/increase drag.

A absolutely love these hillclimb runs, because you know that the man inside of that vehicle knows his machine inside and out. More so than a car, just because of how unorthodox a vehicle such as that is
Here in N.Ireland, the Rallysport Association runs a championship which includes (amongst others) usually about 20-30 buggies, and they are mental! More and more rallymen are competing in this class of motorsport, and it's great to see.

This is when your rc hobby catches up to your racing hobby.
Typical GSX-R sound all around it , that thing is packing huge amount of torque and horsepower but also has an excellent balance between grip and sliding ! I am not sure which feeling is bigger inside of me right now , am i intimidated by it or excited about it ...one thing i am sure of at the moment , if i ride this it would be either the best time of my life or the worst ...
Sorry pal, but a bike wouldn't know what big torque was if you slapped it in the face with it!!!
@@koitorob It´s all about the torque to the wheels though, you get the same torque on the wheels from a 1000cc engine at 10krpm as you get from a 2000cc at 5krpm provided the 1000cc is geared to the same wheel speed.

Some people might not know how loud these little things are. There's a track for these ''near'' me, its about 5km away on the other side of a massive lake and behind a hill. I still can hear these clear as day, its even annoyingly loud. Fun little things.
If I could choose anything to attack a course like that with it would be that vehicle. Amazing! I would daily drive that baby in a heart beat.
