The brothers were born in Kuwait to parents of Iraqi ancestry. Their father, a merchant, moved to Kuwait from the Iraqi city of Basra together with some other 50 Jewish families to form the Jewish community of Kuwait. When Saleh was 10 years old, and Daud 8, they received a gift from their uncle who came back from a business trip to India - a Violin and an Oud. So started their love affair with music, an affair that would one day lead them to become two of the greatest musicians and performers in the history of Iraqi music.

My parents were born in Iraq, and migrated to Israel in the early 50s... I could never relate to the music that was played in my home , being a Radiohead fan I stumbled upon the unnoucment that Dudu Tassa and the Kuwaitis will open the world tour for Radiohead and this is my first time listening to this beautiful music...Thanks for sharing your talent with us Dudu!

i noticed from dozens of videos i watched from Iraqi Jewish in Israel that they didn't modernize this heritiage ,, and also noticed the audience is based on the old generation only,, it was a good step to take by Dudu to modernize these melodies,, in Iraq we keep recording them in various styles,, even when we record them in the old traditional style we sort of add a modern touch to them

@@FirasAlkarradi hats off is an idiom of respect and recognition. It's similar to the French "chapeau". In European culture you would take off your hat to show respect for something or someone. For example when you met someone, you would take off your hat (and shake/kiss their hand) or at funerals. Also when sitting at a table or being indoors it's a sign of disrespect to keep the hat on your head.
