Just a tip: if you buy an IKEA chair at the as-is section or at the thriftstore with the cover, you can take the cover apart and use it as a template for your new cover. I'm no professional but I've upholstered my sofa four times that way and it's really easy. I have my sofa for fourteen years now and it looks very different every time!

Exactly! Alternatively, if we're going to drop $200 on fabric, why not grab a $10 "Bucket Chair Slipcover" pattern while we're there??
Many crafters and DIY'ers assume patterns are ridged, inflexible and dictated assignments, meant for very seasoned sewers only...
      Completely wrong!
That $10 "Bucket Chair Slipcover" pattern will include tips and tricks for specifically working with that chair's shape, suggestions for embellishments (ie, those pool noodles), will include Exact fabric amounts needed for several different Types of material, and should we ever feel Really stumped, pattern companies provide one-on-one troubleshooting help from someone with a blackbelt in slipcover sewing! As I said, if we're going to spend a butt load of cash on lovely material, a $10 slipcover pattern is a pretty savvy investment! :)

I confess I've never been a fan of the tub chair because they've always looked so plain and boring to me but you have managed to make me think twice about them just because of the lovely texture you brought to the piece. That pleating is the business and it just elevates the chair to a new level and brings the cosiness to the forefront. I love how you put the warning out there about never having tried something before and then pull a rabbit out of a hat. Why are we only 17 days into 2021 and you are giving us DIY Life already?!

When you stated what the pool noodles were for, I was worried you wouldn't have enough fabric. I'm glad the seam came out so well-hidden. I also worried that your pool noodles would not space out correctly and you'd have a couple of inches of chair left over. It turned out really well. But I worry (gosh I worry a lot!) that sitting on the cushion will put too much stress on the thread and it will pull out of the cushion over time.
I actually re-covered a chair just like that because the cats tore it up. I did it the traditional way and I have a sewing machine. Your's turned out so much more elegant than mine did!

The way it's ended on the chairs I've recovered is with a kind of tack strip. Take a strip of cardboard. Furniture tacks about every inch or inch and a half. Tucked into the fabric so the sharp ends come through. Fold over. Then it's tapped into place with a small hammer. Basically the tack strip goes into the hem.

Love it. You did a great job with scissors, hot glue and a staple bun. Oh and a needle and thread.

OMG!!!! How cool! Drew you're so talented! I think that mini pillow unnecessary because the pleated back is so pretty and I think that's the focal point for the chair! Great job!🥰🥰

I LOVE THIS!!! So genius. I never would have thought about doing something like this myself. However you have really got me thinking! My boundaries of what can be done yourself at home have definitely increased tremendously today. Wow... Never thought a diy RUclips video would change my thinking about what I can accomplish artistically?!?!?!
