When you realize that mankind hasn't even traveled any farther than the moon
@@bledlbledlbledl this species won't make it far enough. The only thing that could revoltionate and make it really far is: AI. Artificial intelligence robots. They're easily replaceable, more robust and can be backed up therefore perfect for exploring spaces. I don't get why humans try to get humans out there when biological beings are so out of this place in this void.

It's no surprise that we haven't been any farther than the Moon. However, the way technology is going right now, we should be visiting other planets in the next 20-30 years.

It's frightening to think that some, if not most of the things in our night sky are probably really different than what we see due to the absurd distances in space
Perhaps, outside of our Galaxy, the universe has evolved into something completely strange and we're still seeing the echoes of a distant and forgotten passt

Unless we figure out how to travel faster than light, or find something like a scifi wormhole, we aren't going anywhere. We're just going to have to keep watching.
Watching these gives me the same problem I had in university cosmology- the sizes, densities, speeds and distances become so great, so unimaginably huge, that it’s tough to keep any sort of model in your mind. There’s just no frame of reference - even the ‘single sand in all the oceans and beaches on earth equal one galaxy’ descriptive phrase is too much. But I still try to comprehend it because understanding the unknown like this is so utterly appealing to many of us. Keep up the awesome videos SEA 👍🏻

@@amerizoz8492 The size of the observable universe is 46 billion light years, so we have not located 60 billion light year voids. Also, we can see through voids, they are therefore not black holes. Thirdly, if they were black holes, their gravitational pull would have consumed the whole observable universe already.

@A Frustrated Gamer this reply is simply one of the smartest and most patient explanation I've read on the internet. First, thank you for taking the time to explain in pedogogical detail some concepts. I started getting back to studying physics a year ago on and off and I'm mind blown by how deep the Newtonian mechanics shaped our philosophy of Nature. We have our own (wrong) common sense and (limited) intuitions but on top of that primary to high school programs favour teaching amd explaning classical mechanics (for both lazy amd practical reasons) so almost everyone ends up absorbing Newtonian mechanics as an ansolute Truth and the metaphors through which we can "understand" Nature. When you start learning modern physics all of that must be undone, first, and boy that's hard because Newtonian physics is so deceively "comfortable". Are you a phD student? do you work in the field? do you have online courses or a YT channel about that? I think you have a real gift to bring this to people just discovering QM amd GR :)

@A Frustrated Gamer i think when an object is compressed, at a certain point the escape velocity on it's surface becomes equal to the speed of light and beyond that not even light can escape, it's called the schwarzschild radius of that object. Furthermore, space itself can travel faster than the speed of light without violating the laws of physics as there is no particle going faster than light. The gravity of the black hole collapses the space around it and at the event horizon it is collapsing at the speed of light so no light could escape beyond the event horizon. Beyond event horizon, it is collapsing faster than light speed just like we cannot see the rest of the universe beyond the observable universe because space is expanding faster than light speed and hence, the light beyond that point cannot reach us.
The universe needs to stop and take a seat. The awesomeness is just too much to handle.

Actually the name "galaxy" is a misnomer, There are only black holes and their accretion discs, in one which we happen to find ourselves in.

@Enter the Bragn’ I don't know too much about the mathematical properties of black holes, but when these physicists say something like infinitely dense they could mean just really, really dense. Take a neutron star,whereas a teaspoon of it's matter can possibly weigh as much as a mountain. It's atoms being so crunched together, therefore they use"infinitely dense"as more a term to describe something rather than a literal sense. Then again, I'm no physicists. These things make perfect sense to me, even without the math part. Spacetime might actually be something physical when considering things like the Alcubierre warp drive,where spacetime would have to be expanded/contracted using vast amounts of negative energy (if that can be found) for interstellar travel. Also,it is said when a black hole is formed the theory of general relativity ceases to govern and the laws of quantum physics take hold. How can this be nonsense?

I am always struck with awe and wonder when I hear of these things, when my primitive brain struggles to comprehend the greatness of what we have discovered.
Keep up the good work, keep exploring these subjects and allowing those like myself to tremble at the sheer scale of the universe, to gaze out, albeit metaphorically, into the void.

Is it spinning? If so, how large would it's ergosphere be and what would the experience of traveling in it be like? Of course, passing the event horizon would be certain death, but the ergosphere could be navigated. However, it would warp the very *foundation of reality;* bending spacetime itself. Could we survive such an experience at all?
Since the black hole is so big, passing the event horizon would just encase you in a black void all around. The singularity at the centre is the main point of death. But, the singularity defies all laws of physics. It has no surface area.
