Acceptance is often the hardest thing to do because we're constantly told to fight for what we want, and accepting has almost become synonymous with giving up. But it's not! We can still fight for ourselves and our loved ones while accepting the circumstances.

Did you know that today, Feb. 28 is World Rare Disease Day? What a fantastic day to post this. My husband has a genetic rare disease so we know things can be difficult but living with gratitude is truly the way to live

When you said in your last video that you believe your purpose is to be Lucy's mom, I 100% think that's true. She's lucky to have both of you as parents but I think you're lucky to have her, too. Speaking from someone that has a child with health issues and then later on ended up being diagnosed with epilepsy at 14, I am telling you these kids that grow up with these unbelievable struggles are the most resilient, kind and they love so deeply that it would amaze you. I know everyone thinks their children are special but it is hard to feel let down and hopeless when you are around these kids because they are such a bright light and it’s contagious. When you feel like things are hopeless you can always count on your child to be the first one to tell you how blessed they are and that they have a life to live, that other kids can’t say that. They are hyper aware I guess from being in the hospital so often that they realize how much worse things could be. They are such a blessing I can’t even explain.

This sounds silly because it’s from Creed, a Rocky movie, but when they find out their baby daughter is deaf I love what Rocky tells him: she isn’t feeling sorry for herself and you shouldn’t either. I haven’t been in a similar position but I feel like that’s a really good attitude to try and keep in certain situations.
Hi Leighann, I have followed you for years. I want you to know that I am a mom to 2 boys on the autism spectrum. I understand the running around to appointments and having something every day. I always hear from people: "I don't know how you do it" I say "You just have to, and you find the strength to push forward." But now I will say "You have to accept your life. I'd watch anything you upload. I've been following you for over 10 years and you and your family have a special place in my heart. My husband and I have 3 kids and honestly, am glad they have each other. They are all teens and young adults now and they are best friends and they watch out for each other. I think Lucy would be an amazing big sister. Having siblings can really push you to become your best self and try to keep up with them. It could be the best gift for her and for her sibling. I love and appreciate the advice you shared. You are spot on. I've been through 30 surgeries in the last 12 years (long story) and there is still always something to be grateful for and it can certainly always be worse. Perspective really is everything. I gotta go find me a Lucy's light shirt now. Love you guys!
I have a 5 year old that was born cleft lip and palate affected. While sometimes clefts can be a symptom of more serious syndromes or genetic disorders, we were very fortunate that was not the case with our son. He had surgery to repair his lip at 4 months old and his palate at 11 months. Although, that doesn’t compare to what you have gone through with Lucy, I can relate to the “unknowns” and having to take your child to the hospital and specialists. I admire your positivity and strength. I hope you continue to keep us updated on Lucy’s journey. All of this to say, I also call my son “Bug” or “Buggie” as well, but I think my favorite is “Buggles”. Sending you love and positive vibes. 💕✨🌈🍀

I totally agree with the positivity answer. This sounds silly because it’s from Creed, a Rocky movie, but when they find out their baby daughter is deaf I love what Rocky tells him: she isn’t feeling sorry for herself and you shouldn’t either. I haven’t been in a similar position but I feel like that’s a really good attitude to try and keep in certain situations.
Hi Leighann, I have followed you for years. I want you to know that I am a mom to 2 boys on the autism spectrum. I understand the running around to appointments and having something every day. I always hear from people: "I don't know how you do it" I say "You just have to, and you find the strength to push forward." But now I will say "You have to accept your life. You can't resist your life" Oh that is just the perfect, resounding statement. Thank you for that! Your spirit and grace through this life are so wonderful. I can't wait to see more! 🥰

Love your family Leighann! I had a nonverbal autistic daughter at the time we had our son. He helped her so much. She’s now talking and doing amazing. He was the best therapist she’s ever had. It was absolutely amazing for us to have a second.

I'd watch anything you upload. I've been following you for over 10 years and you and your family have a special place in my heart. My husband and I have 3 kids and honestly, am glad they have each other. They are all teens and young adults now and they are best friends and they watch out for each other. I think Lucy would be an amazing big sister. Having siblings can really push you to become your best self and try to keep up with them. It could be the best gift for her and for her sibling. I love and appreciate the advice you shared. You are spot on. I've been through 30 surgeries in the last 12 years (long story) and there is still always something to be grateful for and it can certainly always be worse. Perspective really is everything. I gotta go find me a Lucy's light shirt now. Love you guys!
I have a 5 year old that was born cleft lip and palate affected. While sometimes clefts can be a symptom of more serious syndromes or genetic disorders, we were very fortunate that was not the case with our son. He had surgery to repair his lip at 4 months old and his palate at 11 months. Although, that doesn’t compare to what you have gone through with Lucy, I can relate to the “unknowns” and having to take your child to the hospital and specialists. I admire your positivity and strength. I hope you continue to keep us updated on Lucy’s journey. All of this to say, I also call my son “Bug” or “Buggie” as well, but I think my favorite is “Buggles”. Sending you love and positive vibes. 💕✨🌈🍀
