Some of these photos of Morecambe are over 20 years old - some of the shops you show went many years ago.
It’s does have more older people as it’s the kind of place you retire to, and these people tend to need more care as they age.
There is a lot of HMO’s and that attracts a certain kind of person - it used to be part of “the triangle”, there used to be a maximum amount of time you could get unemployment benefit at the seaside (12 weeks, with 24 weeks before you could return), and if you didn’t find work in that time, you had to move, the main focus was Blackpool, so Morecambe was where people moved onto after they had done their 12 weeks, along with Preston (or sometimes Manchester) and then they could move back.
The is a very large “traveller” community and they culturally don’t live the same way as other residents, (marry very young, and have large families, don’t encourage education, and don’t encourage women to work outside the home - that limits income) which has an effect on figures.
However, there is a lot of new money being invested with the Eden North project, the relatively new motorway junction and plans to expand the port.

They are going to have to start appealing to first world countries for aid.
