Why do you shake your rod up and down before fishing?

He shakes the rod when using the sliding technique, this allows you to get bigger baits out further than normal casting.

Actually seriously disappointed for ASFN who promote catch and release. Notwithstanding a powerful rod, targeting large fish on light tackle and then landing one, stresses the fish. Furthermore, there may have been a number of breeding females on the banks at that point. Very disappointed

Hi Sudesh, that diamond was landed in 20 minutes with that rod and swam off strong. I am a little confused as I see you are a fly fisherman, I don't think as a norm that there is lighter tackle used in saltwater than fly?

Thanks for your reply. Glad to know the fish swam off strongly. Yes I am a fly fishermen and thats precisely where my awareness of stressing fish comes from. My simple point is that you were targeting a large fish on a light rod which could have prolonged the fight and stressed the fish
