I have loved this piece for over 50 years. All music has it's special memories of course and this reminds me of when I lived at Fliquet Bay on Jersey in the British Channels Islands. Anyway....If I could take one piece of music and one performance with me on a desert Island it would be this one. such restraint and unhurried performance couple with the overflowing joy of this piece. Felicia and the ensemble have just nailed this piece!!! Just lovely
Good Job! As someone who studied with Mr. de Lancie it is nice to hear another performance. Because of my training and being used to the Philadelphia Sound and Musical Tradition this Interpretation is different than what I tried for. Congratulations on playing the High F at the end of the 1st Section!
A lovely and thoughtful performance not only by the very fine soloist, but orchestra and conductor as well. Certainly one of the best I’ve heard. I’m so glad it’s available here. I thought I read a comment from former student that Mr de Lancie asked Françaix to make the part simpler, as he wasn’t a particularly showy performer (or words to that effect). I’ve always wondered why, of his many concertante pieces for virtually every instrument, this stands out as the least overtly virtuosic in Françaix’s œuvre. That’s not to say there’s anything remotely easy about the work, only that it does, without question, contain far fewer notes than any of the others. That it is also amongst his most popular works certainly shows Françaix could be wonderful even without his characteristically fiendish technical difficulty.
Wonderful performance! I love how the whole ensemble captured the joy of this piece. And the oboe soloist was fantastic! It's a demanding piece for endurance and she played it with great ease, lightness and perfection. Kudos to her!
Wow this was one of the most moving and impressive performances I’ve ever seen of this piece! You sound incredible!! What beautiful sound and so many colors!
Hellooo, does anyone know what the knots on her top are? or if they represent something or are just there as just a decoration? Thank youuu, from Mexico
Im playing this piece next month with the Atlanta Symphony and hope to bring the same joy and lightness! I love your interpretation!
Can’t wait to see it happen 😊
You did amazing. It was my favorite selection of the evening. And your gown was gorgeous!

The only performance of this piece I like better is by the late great John Delanci with Philadelphia. Either way this is a superb performance.
Thank you! That is a very honorable compliment!

Thank youuu, from Mexico
The knots are for decoration but the vest itself comes from the Romanian traditional clothing and adapted for Modern clothing 🙏
