  • Published on Mar 11, 2026
  • The 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant Performance ($168,880 as specced in Canada, $145,645 in the US) had seen some changes to go along with the new ‘Performance’ name added last year. This includes more horsepower and torque - up to 621 hp and 627 lb ft respectively, less sound insulation, a lighter and smaller differential, a more ‘emotional’ transmission, and some design tweaks among other changes. But does the new RS 6 live up to what you might expect of a Performance Audi? And does it still have that sleeper wagon status? Thomas and James can’t wait to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. Speaking of the new M5 Wagon, BMW just said in the US it is accounting for 50% of the 2025 M5 sales so far... which is far higher than BMW estimated. Wagons are badass.

      It’s the strangest misconception in the automotive world. If a car has or had a wagon variant, it’s the most desirable in the US by far. They said the US doesn’t like hatchbacks yet VW sells more GTI’s and golf r’s in America than anywhere on earth. Give us wagons please!

    • @vipe650r
      @vipe650r 11 months ago +2

      @G82Watts Honestly, I don't doubt that. I still feel like part of me would never be able to enjoy it. It's just SO DAMN HEAVY. Instead of streamlining and making it a better sports car, the added in tech and tuning to try to hide bulk that they've just continued to accumulate to it. It weighs so much more than full-on SUV's that are bigger than it. That makes me nervous in any situation where traction isn't a guarantee. Rubber is now the weakest link, and that's as big weak link. The Audi isn't a featherweight, but it's just so much better and simpler and easier to wield. Especially when conditions aren't perfect.

    Honestly, in this spec, it definitely looks a lot more grown up “dad wagon”, even with the crayon grey paint. It’s very understated. To the average Joe it’s just an Audi. However spending £130k spec’d up like this, I think you could definitely do a lot worse, but could do an awful lot better.

    About time.
    My grenadine red S6 is stunning! I replaced the carbon wave on the dash and the piano black around the shifter with ash wood trim from the A6. Looks much better, stays clean, no glare.
    This is my second Audi with the most recent dash, it works great, easy to navigate.

      @lm1314 11 months ago +3

      I have a 2025 A4 Allroad Prestige, and since it is hard to come by, you get what you get. I wanted the gray wood and hate the piano black around the gear shift. My 2019 A4 was a metal. I had to get the piano black PPE so it hopefully does scratch. I don't understand Audi's thinking.

    • @OWanKeno9i
      @OWanKeno9i 11 months ago

      Would you buy it again? I have a stage 2 C7 A6 that I love but it's getting too old. I've fixed it and improved it a bunch, like 20K worth, but I'm ready to m for another car.
      The D4.5 S8 is literally my dream car. Suggestions on what to look for or if I should get it. I'm worried about exorbitant maintenance and repair costs; the A6 was already pricey in that respect.

    • @OWanKeno9i
      @OWanKeno9i 11 months ago

      I love the A6 interior, especially with an upgraded screen and some good factory options. The new gen interiors definitely feel worse.
      There's even a fixed ultrawide screen upgrade that looks more updated.
      The A/S8 one I like even more.

    • @_e5598
      @_e5598 11 months ago

      @OviWanKeno9i I got the S8 because I wanted a 4.0T and the S8 has the turbos from the RS6/7, so it is more robust. For the price I bought it, I can afford to fix it, so I would totally buy it again. Actually I am more addicted to the luxury features than I thought I would be.

    • @_e5598
      @_e5598 11 months ago

      @OWanKeno9i look for the turbo screen recall maintenance and that it has been serviced at audi. The engine mounts can go, but you can prevent it with a tune that disables cylinder deactivation

    I relate to this video because of my prior ownership of fast Audi's. During the conversation, it looks like you two are out for a nice, leisurely Sunday drive. Then the B-roll shows you flogging the sh*t out of it, exhaust screaming. Audi hides speed - I dont know why they do it or how they do it. But if you want to feel your pulse in this car, it's a minimum 100+ mph.

      Because grey and silver cars look clean even when they need a wash.

      Actual rockets tend to have dull colors. They're about power, not posing.

    • @HenrikHolmesson
      @HenrikHolmesson 10 months ago

      @RobertFahey-m7r Since when does selecting a gorgeous paint color (for ANY car) constitute "posing?"

    • @RobertFahey-m7r
      @RobertFahey-m7r 10 months ago

      @ Depends on what "gorgeous" means. I like bright colors on some cars, especially economy cars, where color is fun and whimsical. But this is the other end of the spectrum.

    • @HenrikHolmesson
      @HenrikHolmesson 10 months ago

      @RobertFahey-m7r I used the term gorgeous because it's an antonym to dull. Supercars & hypercars come in vivid, eye catching colors too. Take one look at Lamborghini's paint code list lol.

    The C8 RS6 is a lovely thing indeed. But as you said at 8:22, the previous C7/C7.5 generation was perfection. I enjoy my RS6 now for 5 years and every little button, feel, quality, hideaway screen, is just perfect.

    I dont understand why people say this is a sleeper. This at night in full black spec looks insanely good, tho for the day id have the grey or red.

    • @jeremyfong5684
      @jeremyfong5684 11 months ago +4

      Because there aren't many changes physically to differentiate it from an S-line A6

    • @cbotten106
      @cbotten106 11 months ago

      Well, in red it wouldn't be a sleeper. Or in that weird Audi livery graphics...yowza!

    Being an Audi... it'll be a sleeper, regardless of spec. It'll be sleeping at the workshop 50% of the time because they're just such reliable vehicles. I'll never go near a VW product again in my life.
