We've all heard the talent of Sergei Nakariakov or Maurice André playing this piece - on an E flat trumpet ! Immanuel Richter plays it in the original E major key , a semi-tone higher on a C trumpet (and 4#!) with the most incredible ease in a highly original, but also very musical, interpretation. His use of resounding fortissimo attacks and subtle legato are a uniquely fresh approach and all highly appropriate in such a melodic concerto. The contrast and precision in his playing also reveal his absolute technical mastery of the instrument, placing him incontestably as one of the greatest classical trumpeters playing today.
I think it's your unbelievable command of the instrument that allows you to formulate exceptional musical tasks going beyond technicalities; in my view, this results in a special vision for this music that's unlike any other and as refreshing as it is exciting. Thank you.

Very well done ! Played this myself in 1977 at the Indiana State Solo and Ensemble Contest. I received a first place. That summer I auditioned for Indiana University Music School. I went and studied with Professor Charles Gorham for two years before dropping out of school and starting a trade school. I have had a great career as a Union Steamfitter and a wonderful family but learned to love Classical music. I guess all the listening library excerpt needed for theory classes lol ! I still play but nothing like you do and didn't even in 1977. Don't get me wrong I was good but think all trumpet players think they are good. Trumpet mentality lol ! Keep it up Sir and I will be looking for more of your playing !
