Amazing editing bud. As a Greek, I can assure you that this is the original recipe and I'm very glad you read the Nikolaos Tselementes' book before proceeding to cooking. Those saying about potatoes, well that's a very common ingredient, but not included in the original recipe. It was a trick firstly used by restaurants and taverns in order to make portions more compact and rich ( that's why you see the potatoes being only at the bottom layer and not in the middle) and it was soon incorporated at homecooking as well. Potatoes and zucchini make the moussaka richier and very tasty, but the original recipe is aubergines, minced meat sauce ( spiced with allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg) and the classic bechamel sauce with kefalotyri on top. Great video lad
Yeah as turks we also maje it this way
@@OsiC42 I've tried a similar dish at Turkey, but without the bechamel sauce and they told me that was their traditional version of this recipe. It was plain aubergines mixed with mince. Greek moussaka is layered and has bechamel sauce on top
no man it is turkish dish

@hayatsız that particular one is totally Greek, your version is much different, sorry not sorry

@@chillinkoalablabla9225 No.... Although papoutsaki and moussakas are very simillar to each other
@@chillinkoalablabla9225 Always great to hear that people from other countries make their own versions of greek dishes ! Potatoes in moussaka must be delicious !
What? you can't be serious.. moussaka is a dish of the ottoman empire, the meaning of the word is "saki". It means cooked in water. It is used to mean meat cooked in water. Therefore, moussaka is a Turkish dish. Please research and comment!
@@saymezunr1876I forgot this comment , but you have to make a big deal out of it ! For your information , arabs made moussaka , and a greek chef took the dish and added bechamel sause on it ! But even if I'm wrong you don't have to make it a big deal in comments you karen !
Stop stealing others culture. Musakka, baklava, yoğurt and many others you claim to be yours are turkish foods.
I swear SOMEONE needs to make a damn remix or song out of his videos the dude is literally giving y'all a beat!
I never tasted an authentic moussaka, but my mom used to make one with plantains bechamel sauce, and two types of meat, common ground meat and a type of a salted meat, which was fairly good; and it is one of my favorite foods
Edit: I'm from brazil btw, and to be honest I never saw lamb meat over here, the common in my region of brazil other than fish, pork or cattle, is goat meat, eaten as a stews or dried/salted, never grounded or eaten as steaks
Plantains?!? As in banana? That doesn't seem very appetizing. It isn't supposed to be a sweet dish at all.
he looks so happy every time he tries the food at the end of his videos
It' s look so delicious. Lots of Love from Turkey 🇹🇷🤗💞

Oooohhh yeaaah!!!! I am Greek and mousaka is traditional food here and i can say this is how its done!!!! Perfect execution...just perfect... and wine for the meat... perfect!!
But what i like personally is a thinner lay of meat replaced with more mpesamel and also a lay of potatoes below the lay of aubergines...

This is for sure one of your best ones! And seems like you were very pleased too, considering you took two forkfuls, which I have not seen before in your other Shorts! How long did it take? End product looks like a masterpiece 🤩🤤
It’s my favourite food! I’m from Greece 🇬🇷
In Bosnia (i am pretty sure in other balkan countries), our Moussaka (spelled in Bosnian Musaka) is a baked dish made out from potatoes, scrambled eggs and cooked ground beef/mutton. Really simple but tasty dish 😋
Same in Serbia too but instead of mutton we use pork or beef
Other Chefs - Damm not again..2 hours of hardworking for this dish.
Sam - Hold my cup, I'll do in minute with extra added beats with bass.
Nice

You are right if it has powder sugar

He should make some Transylvanian monster cakes.
They're called kourabiedes
Yes it's called kourabiedes (plural). It is Greek traditional whole almond cookie dusted with powdered sugar. You can find how to make it in RUclips

this is a very known meal here from our ancestors (I am palestinian)but we don't add that bachamel layer to it, but I think that would be even better 😍
Moussaka is a common dish all over middle East and the Balkans. Greek version has bechamel sauce on the top, and it makes it rich in flavour. Turkish is with yogurt sauce. There are so many versions. Food is good.

Me : ohhhhhhh silly me 😅
"Musakka", as it is called in Turkiye, is one of the basic meals of the Ottoman cuisine, which is its creator. It is the only one and popular type made with eggplant as in the video. However, there are many varieties of moussaka. These; Potato moussaka, yam moussaka, turnip moussaka, tomato tray moussaka, eggplant moussaka, pumpkin moussaka, bean sprout moussaka, carrot custard moussaka, celery moussaka, kavata moussaka. The fact that the Greeks are active in advertising and sales should not change the fact. Today's Greece was an Ottoman province for 400 years, but it doesn't seem nice that they r appropriatin all the gains from that culture only to their own society. It is necessary to make more accurate etymological and historical information. Thanks.
I love it. I have been binge watching you. You are so cool

@@vassilopoula Turkish and Greek people lived together for 402 years. We did nothing to you, the West created internal turmoil and riots. Food does not belong to a society. There is something called cultural interaction. No matter what anyone says, Turkish and Greek people are brothers. Do not believe the lies of the Diaspora. I was also afraid of the media, wondering what would happen to me in Greece. But the Greek people in Athens welcomed me very well, not at all like what you see on the news.
