I honestly like beckett more because the subgrades hold them accountable, while PSA, in theory, could give a card any grade and not have to explain why. Another thing beckett does is include a piece of paper showing you why the card got the grade it did, so they highlight points of damage and show where the centering is off at and so on, and on top of that, they have amazing customer service.
@@Rhymechan If I'm not mistaken I believe they only provide the paper with explanation on a cross grade or regrade attempt. I remember seeing them in Leonhart's video when he and Gary tried getting black label 1st. ed Charizard from his 10 Pristine.
@@BigTuckTV yes that was my bad, I have only ever done two subs with Beckett and they were both crossgrade subs so I assumed that was the norm! thanks for clarifying
Then look at Leonhart's video. He had a terrible conditioned card (twice) which had to be a 4 but came back as 7/7.5 or 8 I can't remember but really stupid grade
SportsFan JW even tho bgs are better at grading people use psa just as they can make more £/$ as unless black label bgs are worth less as less commonly used
Ayy I love that everyone is getting their graded slabs back! Going to be cool to see what all sorts of cards got graded as. I recently got 363 back from PSA (40 pounds) and did a mailday video about it, but now I have to do the reveals too🤣.
Sweet return! I personally like PSA better because having a collection of 10s is so much more satisfying than 9-9.5 BGS’s in the same condition. The lack of uniformity really bothers me as a collector. Regardless, awesome vid!
Hey rhyme I was wondering how cross-grading cards and sending cards back for review works as wouldn’t that falsely increase the population of that card? Love your videos keep it up💯🔥
Did you hear that CGC started accepting cards for grading? I've heard they're about as strict as BGS so I'm hoping that they take off and people use them. They run the comic book grading world.
PSA 10s are basically BGS 9-10, meaning they can fall anywhere inbetween those grades. That Feraligator 9.5 will easily be a PSA 10. I have a few PSA 10 (mtg) and it wouldn't do better than a 9 on the BGS scale.
I like BGS more. I'd assume it's more expensive because they take grading a tiny bit more seriously, and probably spend at least a few more minutes grading a single card than PSA does. It's more fun and interesting to see the sub-grade things like Corners, Centering, Surface, and Edges. And yea PSA cases do look a bit cheaper and probably easier to break open. I also have more respect for BGS because they are Beckett. When I was a little 10 year old collecting pokemon cards in the year 2000, there were already magazines from Beckett that had the prices of cards at that time. I loved looking through those magazines. Good submission and video. ♥
I had never bought a card from troll and toad, but I was always curious and looked on their site so much. One day I say f it and decided to just order 1 card to see if it was actually going to be near mint as described. I ended up just buying a Japanese Giovanni's persian because I love that card and it was only like $5. Got it in the mail and I was shocked, no lie there isn't a single scratch on the card, awesome centering, just overall beautiful card. Its a light holo card too and not a single scratch. Definitely recommend them
PSAs grading is really hit or miss. Honestly if you're getting a BGS 8.5 or a strong BGS 9.5+, could be worth sending it into PSA since they'll grade higher most likely.. meaning more value :)
I've been watching your channel now for a few months and thoroughly enjoy your style of videos, openings, and grade reviews. What is it that you do/did for a living that your're able to keep so many of the products that you open for personal collection versus having to sell/split stuff for finances? You open some fire and crazy expensive stuff, but I was just curious if it's been mentioned before for how you got started.
Looks like surface has an incredibly higher weight, as evident by the harsh Typhlosion rating. I'm gonna assume it's because the surface has the highest variance in condition.
You can get a final grade of up to 1.0 point better than the worst sub grade. T17 for example got a 7.5 which is 1.0 higher than the Surface 6.5 because it was carried by the 3 other sub grades being atleast a full point higher.
I like bgs better because they give you the sub grades. I sent in a base zard to bgs and it graded a 7. Also bought. a base zard for 40 bucks about a year ago and it got a psa 4. If the centering wasnt super bad, it probably would've gotten higher
Ive stopped using PSA be for c19 and have graded a couple hundred cards with BGS during that time and im never going back to PSA now I know that Beckett not a cheap as PSA but Im seeing better returns in sales prices from BGS cards.
wouldn’t you want to get graded by BGS? Since they’re harsher with the grading then when u get a 10 u know it’s the best condition it could possibly be in
I prefer CGC, now that they grade TCG cards. Their case is super clear, and the label is good at telling you what the card is, where PSA will have abbreviations that look atrocious. The case is sleek but sturdy. They for sure are going to be good competition to BGS and PSA.
Prople that say a bgs 10 is better than a psa.......not always. For one thing, they are completely different grades. Psa 10 is gem mint, bgs 10 is pristine. Anyways, psa is the most strict, except for above bgs 9.5 where the difference between a 10 and 9.5 is still subjective on the subgrades (except centering...apparantly is measured, but I've seen people regrade and the sub grade changed on centering 🤣), and therefore for overall grade. And psa are much harsher across the board, considering a crease or indent instantly drops grade to a 5/6,, but bgs barely knock the grade down! Smpratte has done comparative videos for pokemon card results, and it is incredible that people somehow think bgs is more harsh 😅
Hey , this is my 1st bgs submission and I would like some help if you dont kind ? There's only 13 cards you can list and I want to submit 30cards but it don't show me that option? So what did you do to send more then 13 cards ?
Hey Rhymestyle (or anyone who knows), when you resubmit to get a higher grade, do you do "review" and send it in in the slab, or do you break the case open and send in raw again? If anyone can help, thanks a lot!
What turn around time did you select? You said you got your cards back in one month, so just curious how accurate their turn around time predictions are.
I have graded with BGS a lot they are good with their turn around times. I've graded 10 day 5 day and 2 day and its always either a day before the suggested date or on the same day they suggest. Usually my cards arrived, the next day or a day after that they would be logged into the system as recieved and thats usually when i would have got a grade date deadline. So my 2 day was usually like 5 business days, my 5 day was about a week and a half and when I did 10 days it was about a month. That being said I think right now the turn around times are delayed by about a day or so depending on the level due to the high grade orders they have.
I think grading is kinda stupid, if I was a collector I'd be saving a lot of money by buying lower grades. As long as I can admire the art and the condition isn't complete shit then I'd be happy.
I don’t get your thought process, why is a 9 bad for you? Lol most people are stoked to see 9s and 9.5s and the rare 10 on occasion. Never seen someone say a 9 is bad before haha I’ve seen some people grade some older jungle and team rocket cards and end up with 6,7 and 8s. 9/9.5/10 are all amazing
Bad luck not even a single ten. I am not asking for a pristine 10 but atleast a normal 10. Didn't have any hopes on those English cards but damn those Japanese cards. ☹️ It's alright, next time.

P.S.A is great. But I hear Beckett is more severe on their grades. Which makes it even more valuable
Nope, PSA 9 is still more valuable than any of the grades he got in this video. BGS grades hard and nobody buys bgs unless it's black label

Just opened a Raichu GX Box from Shining Legends. First two packs I opened. Test Tube Mewtwo. Rainbow Mewtwo GX.

The meganium had two 10s and two 9s that comes out to a 9.5 but they gave it a 9 y?
I'm still waiting for my PSA subs xD but it's only been a month so...
So one questions, am i trippin or is the meganium just wrong.
Cause in my count 10+10+9+9=38
38/4=9,5
Same for Scizor
