    I worked at the Home Depot,and all cashiers were told we could give a total of $50 in discounts per day. We were also told that lumber was the only thing to never to be discounted unless it had a purple spray paint mark on it. I can't remember how much we could discount the marked wood,but it was probably 10%

    HomeDepot, Appliances buyer be ware: my 83 year old mom took delivery on two appliances on December 8th one worked as expected the other a Samsung Full size refrigerator not at all. Instead of them replacing it as they should they referred it to a repair shop they claim sense she didn’t purchase a extended warranty. She lost all the food and had to bring back her old refrigerator, as of December 26 nothing has been done to resolve this issue. The repairman who came out said it had a bad board and he would attempt to repair it when he received it. HomeDepot has become worthless !

    I'm getting where I don't like home depot either. I looked online for exterior flat paint. Found some for 12.98 Rust-Oleum brand. Go to home depot and I'm given different brand interior paint. My mistake for not looking after the guy handed it to me.. go right back inside and I'm told by the employees what I seen online for 1298 is out of stock. It shows they have 8 in stock. And they hand me a quart of 19.98$ paint. I bought it. I was up-selled I guess you would say. I may check with another local hardware store to see what they have. And just return the paint.

    I hate giving discounts. Its easy to get us into trouble. We always get cornered into it. It affects everyone.

      How would you get in trouble for selling a product that would otherwise take up space on the shelf that no one would pay full price for being damaged? Better than just throwing out away less of an impact on the bottom line. And lying to a customer just to get them in the door and treat them like shit is asite way to lose $$

      @@staggs82 One time I was busy on the forklift and a rude customer just comes up to me while I was obviously very busy and wanted a discount on some T1-11 siding. I glanced over and noticed some had corner damage and said yeah I can give a discount. Well the customer took the whole stack and wanted a discount off every single one. I almost got written up and many were getting fired because of discounts.
      I really hate doing any discounts at all. I would much rather throw the item in the compactor and get an inventory tax benefit.
      It absolutely bothers me and puts me on the spot. One of the factors why I want to quit after 15 years. People are horrible.

    • @staggs82
      @staggs82 3 года назад

      I appreciate your honesty. That's messed up that you get in trouble for that. Would you pay full price for a car that the windows was busted and had hail damage all over it? Any product for that matter that is damaged and only 66 percent of it could be used? I understand where you are coming from. And honestly if I was in your shoes I'm sure I would not like giving discounts either. Here's my biggest issue with this whole thing. I didn't ask for a discount at first. The guy I talked to told me they had some and he offered the discount as he was explaining what he had left in his inventory and explained the damage to it before I even left my house. I asked if I bought all of the damaged ones if he could offer a little more of a discount. It was not as much as lowes gives. (BTW the head guy at the pro desk in lowes came to me when he first started to introduce himself and made sure I was aware of the discounts they give. Of course you get 5 percent with a card, bulk purchase discounts etc and damage material discounts and he explained in details the amount they give. No hassle just go to the pro desk. And I look for these discounts if I'm able to use that material. Sorry got side tracked. But the Home depo guy on the phone offered the discount first. I'm not complaining about him. It's the way that the manager treated me as a customer. Now I'm not a snow flake. I'm not offended very easily. This was more about the principle. A man's word should mean something. But I'm not as a customer going to have a manager call me a liar and treat me the way that I was treated. Which the manager lied to me about talking to everyone that was in lumber. If she did then she would of found the guy that offered me the discount. I'm a reasonable person. If I was the manager and you walked up in this situation would you want to be called a liar and treated like a red headed step child Or what would your reaction be to a response to something like...... sir this is why I really am not suppose to give a discount of more than 10 percent. Do you mind if I look into who you may of talked to in lumber? Ok thank you I'll be back shortly. 5 minutes later I come back. Do you mind if I look at the material. Ok your correct the damage is pretty bad again I'm sorry that I can't give you that steep of a discount. (Here's the best part. I could lie to you and you would not know) lie - I talked to the employee that offered you that and I'm not making excuses but he is new. I'm going to have to do some corrective training with him to prevent this from happening again. So I'm only authorized to do 10 percent but if you were willing to work with me I can do 20 percent max and I'm going to get into trouble for that. .... something to that effect. The lady was a manager shit rolls down hill. Her employee created this situation. So she could of done something vs calling me a liar etc etc.
      So give me your honest opinion. I am not going to get offended. Am I being unreasonable in your opinion? If so please convince me. If you was a manager how would you of tried to handle it? I know alot of variables and customers can be pain in the butts. But without customers you would have no reason to be there in the first place.

      @@staggs82 So I understand your situation yes on principle it's a very bad situation. You are wrongfully called a liar and you travelled to the store to get product used gas, time etc in doing so and get conflicting stories.
      Here is the thing, it gets complicated. Some managers will not discount things the way other managers will. Some are more concerned with the discount dollars more than others.
      Sometimes there are more dollars to work with than other times. The person offering the discount should own their decision and it should be upheld by higher management. Unless it was a gross error that runs the thousands of dollars.
      I believe the store manager or at the very least assistant manager should have went ahead and approved it and should have followed up with the associate that gave the discount to see if it was within the guidelines at the time and coach them if necessary.
      To complicate matters each department has their own numbers and markdowns are reviewed with the head of the department. And if the markdowns are bad they have to justify it and that's not always as clear.
      The best bet is pro desk markdowns in person. I hope this helps.

    • @staggs82
      @staggs82 3 года назад

      I appreciate your input. The discount was less than 1000 dollars. I also explained to the manager that I'd be willing to put the extra ones that I didn't need for the project back and take the original lower discount on the 16 I think. It's been so long ago the issue is pointless. ( I just get on here now to see my handsome face 🤣🤣) Because I'm really an understanding person. At that time it was the principle of the matter. And that's the problem with so much in the world we live in today that so many are quick to disrespect another without hesitation. So within 3 to 4 messages you have given me more insight on things and if the manager would of came at me the way you did with facts I would of still been upset but would of purchased the them at a 10 percent discount. Here's the thing It was not even about the money at that point. My customer was reimbursing me for materials, but I'm a contractor that treats my diskettes money as my own. If I can provide a quality product at a cheaper rate weather is material or labor then I'm all for it.
      I appreciate your time and replies. This happen almost a year ago. I've been at home depo one time in a year just because the closest lowes was 3 hrs away and I needed a ceiling fan. Not that the money I'm taking to lowes will bankrupt them but they lost a customer for life. Which could of all been avoided if a store manager had a little diplomacy and would of talked to me as if I was a human and not a savage cavemen. A fast food place will atleast contact you take your complaint and throw a happy meal at you over a 4 dollar simple mistake, home depo corporate office must think they have no need for us little guys because I never as much as recieved a phone call, email, text, a letter. Oh well 100 years from today I'm not going to give it a second thought.

    Thanks Kris. I will try Lowes again. Their customer service/ associate very rude and bad at Mission valley Lowes in Appliances before. I will try them again now. Hope those guys retired. There was a fat woman with computer on wheels does not want to take my order it was about 15 minutes before close. The order actually was just a check out and pay for just about 35-40 items on the large metal cart. But I take your words. I will go there next time, it further than Fairmount Home Depot in San Diego, CA. These employees here at HD getting really rude, Loading employee also getting lazy and intimidating. Also, intimidating when I pick item up from the ground inside store at lumber department. Their broken concrete bags give about 45-50% discount (at the time I bough) but those only 1/2 bag and the stuff is losing all over your car if you don't have a bag or plastic box. they made me to take all the Pallet. They said on the paper (stick inside counts how many bags) it is 18 broken bag 37.95 dollars. But after remove the plastic wrap I saw about 10-12 bags are actually saw the bag. but a lot were leaks through the pallet onto the concrete. The black girls at return miscount a kitchen under sink water horse, I returned 5. It went in receipt 4.... (this return has many items).. A lot more stories about them ..... Fairmount Home Depot "used to be" my favorite place to shop. We shop HD Lemond Grove and here over 35 years. But now we feel so uncomfortable to just think about the store.

    Dude, I work in lumber dept Home Depot. Employees who pick up the phone there are random and sometimes they just say whatever. I get calls from customers asking about hardware, or garden stuff, which are totally not my departments. I tell them I will xfer them and just hang up on them because I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm new there, maybe two months, and with very little training. You should have followed up the phonecall with an actual visit to confirm. No big deal. You didn't do that. You decided to load up all kinds of heavy product and then get into an argument with the manager. I don't feel sorry for you. And I'm no big fan of Home Depot even though I work there. I've only been there two months. But you can't expect anything with a simple phone call. That's stupid. You gotta go in there, in person. Much more efficient.

    So sorry u had to put up with that. That is stupid 10% off on something that was 1/3 damage I believe. Over at my store any damage items that hazardous and it is still useful go through a cull process where we give them out for free well at least in California. Other wise we would have done more than just a 10% discount for your siding. Again Thank You for shopping at The Home Depot.

I called the store.. someone from shipping is supposed to call me back in 30 minutes. Everyone in the World will know about this unless they take care of this soon

    I am not an expert but what is the siding? is that the aluminum side for the frame/ carport roof top? or wood siding for the home? any wood damage at Home depot in San Diego CA give more than 60% off. Price still high for lumber now, even give discount. Even 75% off. Many are left over and no sell. I saw them brought to the back, probably they going to break down n recycle it. Many time I thinking about ask them for free or sell really cheap. But just think about how rude they were. I just move on to my business n get out the there. Stop Favor them. Because they will think people are going to take advantage of them. But IMPORTANT QUESTION IS. WHY THEY NOT HELP ME FIND STUFF SO I CAN GET OUT THE THERE AS QUICKLY?

Unbelievable to say the least! 🛻🏗️🧱🧰😒🙄👎🏾
