There are several small coastal towns here in New Zealand that have those old WW2 sea mines as their monuments. Ones that washed up on their beaches. Unbeknown to most Kiwis at the time, there was a german sub travelling around NZ during the war and was torpedoing merchant ships between NZ and Aus.
i give you a lot of credit, brother. It's not easy to stick with something over many days. You seem to find the process engaging and joyful. Thank you from a 70y.o. potter.
Jorge, The process to get the end result was no joke. You must love what you do as an artisan because this takes stamina. Thank you for inspiring my creativity.
Wow I love these orbs especially the big rusted one. The dots give them a lot of character. I can see how much fun you are having. I think I could truly get addicted to making these. 😊😊😊😊
Hey there! Cool orbs, thanks for sharing! I am a scenic artist for theater and haunted attractions. To get a really cool aged copper patina, use hammered metallic copper spray paint, then stipple or sponge on the patina using craft acrylic paints in tones of mint green-blue. to make it especially realistic, determine where water would naturally collect, and concentrate the patina there. :)
You could use powdered iron oxide from a ceramics supply company. For black you can buy China ink and for silver, use fire resistant aluminum metallic paint
I like them all! Very nice! Two thoughts: 1. Get a snap on spayer for your spray paint/sealer (your fingers will thank you) 2. Go to the cake decorating section in your local store and try to find a plastic icing spreader. Sort of like a large plastic scraper. They are a little flexible and might help make applying the cement easier than the metal trowel. I hope you try it!
Awesome tips! Also, when I have to apply paint in a large area, and natural variations in tone are acceptable, I'll put the diluted water-based paint in one of the pump canister lawn sprayers with the wand.
I absolutely love watching your platform. You’re so talented. I don’t know if you’re self taught or if you’ve gone to school to get your background, but you are very talented and in my eyes, you are an artist and that is coming from one artist who went to school for many years to another artist I really like your work. I like your quality in the imagination that you use and you’re not afraid to try new things. Great job.
It’s so hard to pick a favorite. They all turned out so beautifully! But I have to admit that I love the giant rusty orb the most. They are so fabulous! 🩷🤩
My FAVORITE DIY … Jorge you’re truly so talented and the best High End designs I’ve seen thus far. I’m not trying to be mean, but it seems that the other DIY creators “High End” creations look a little cheap and tacky. Don’t get me wrong, they’re talented beyond belief… But you… YOU ARE A TRUE ARTIST 🤍🖼️
Well that was an 3ducation and so many great ideas I'm a wood artist from Australia and I can imagine these at the foot of a carved ornate fireplace!! Fabulous Jorge thank you
For the hula hoops, you could have tried 2 things. First, you could have attached the latitude rings at even intervals around the equator to keep them from clumping together. You could also add a center rod to keep the oval shape from forming.
I really appreciate you showing the problems you encounted with your project. Too many video makers make their projects look eazi pezi. Thank you. Great work 👍
So beautiful and stately!! Tons of charm and class. The rust one and saller black minesweeper looking ones actually look metal. The lighter small ones look quiet refined and would go great with brick houses. Realy add so much character that living landscaping does not. Bravo!
What if on whola hoops try zip ties then put something to hang it on,its just too tight thats why it’s probably not working.love ball art. What if you made a gyro out of a ball, basically what you were doing with the whola hoops.great job, enjoy creating. What if you did that 60’s art of throwing balloons semi full of paint & your air to the max at 1 of your balls-sounds fun.❤😊👩🏼🐶
Love, love these orbs! Thank you so much Jorge for your tutorials and your easy going attitude as you take us through the process! They turned out awesome! They were all beautiful!
Really enjoyed this. I was a stone carver, in my earlier life, and I love how you embraced the natural stone qualities. I’ll definitely check out your store.
What a fun project... These are wonderful yard art pieces. I would like to see one turned into a water feature. I have been shopping for some large interesting objects to make one for our place. This is quite neat. Thanks for the inspo and how to....
The rust cement orb is very cute! I recently made a cement orb with twine and put solar lights around it. I love it and plan on making more, thanks for the video!
I really like all your orbs, Jorge! My favorites are the ones with ribs. They remind me of big barrel cactuses. I can imagine one painted a grey green like a barrel cactus. That would be fun.
Oh my gosh!! I bumped into your channel today and am so impressed with your work Jorge! I love concrete diy’s but don’t have time to make them. However, I am definitely enjoying your work. My next stop is your store. Beautiful work and such a talent and imagination you were blessed with. Keep up the amazing art!!
To ensure moist curing, I cover my concrete projects with a wet Terry towel, the concrete can pull the moisture from it as it cures and allows if to cure to full strength.
The large rust orb really turned out fantastic. They all look great but my fave has to be the big rusty one, followed closely by the bumpy ones. That doesn't mean I don't like the little ribbed ones. They fantastic too.
These are beautiful as well as very well planned . obvious, artistic and design physics went into play here as you perfected your craft into producing very gallery were the works of art that would also stand up outside, and hold their own
They turned out fantastic. The black ones look like mines.. If you want a rusted look, use bronze acrylic for the base or charcoal colour and then just add the bronze colour and turquoise in random places with a rag or sponge.
Wow the rusty one is fabulous, there is ways of you doing the rust and patina effect with a lot cheaper things from around the house, then just go ahead with you reall good sealer ❤
loved the "big ass ball." All of them turned out wonderful as always. Yet, really, the "big ass ball" is still my favorite. You are an awesome artist.
My favorite is the giant Rusty orb. It turned out so great
The smaller ones with nobs are reminding me of old WW2 mines used by various naval blockades

They are awesome. I can't believe how beautiful every one of these turned out. So much time and work, but clearly worth the effort.

Absolutely beautiful, they all look like old iron relics of war.
Perfect ... one of the best DIY videos all year
Love them ALL!! Well done!!😃😃
Also, who’s singing the song at 4:36 “I don’t wanna wait for you?” Dig!
Enjoyed the creation of the Orbs. ALL of them are beautiful. The black one with the nubs instantly reminded me of the mines that are in the sea/ocean.
Love this!!! You can put a round piece of wood on top of the big one and make a side table.
I really appreciate you showing the problems you encounted with your project.
Too many video makers make their projects look eazi pezi. Thank you. Great work 👍
