    I don't have much to honestly say about this Mapusaurus, other than "I wish it wasn't on a base". But it's still pretty good.

    Definitely a good figure. Although I have to correct a bit of your science. Mapusaurus was not technically larger than t-rex. It was a bout a metric ton lighter. Also spinosaurus was only about 11-12 meters long by the most recent estimates, which puts it right in line with a lot of other megatheropods

    • @BionicleSaurus
      @BionicleSaurus  5 лет назад +3

      I am aware that most large Carnosaurs were lighter than T. rex, when I was talking about size I was more so referring to length.

      Fiascospino I’m not saying anything about sigilmassasaurus. Spino was estimated to be about 40ft long before the sigil paper was released

      Why The YT oh yeah edmontosaurus is awesome.i forgot about him. I like to think it looked like the Jw edmontosaurus. I'm not good with favs. Although my fav has to be Mapusaurus, ceratosaurus, edmontosaurus and spinosaurus are probably tied.

    Gibson talks about Megatheropod size and the comments explode.

    • @BionicleSaurus
      @BionicleSaurus  5 лет назад +2

      They're all only like a couple feet apart in length, and the specifics are constantly changing, arguments are inevitable.

    • @DinoMan99000
      @DinoMan99000 5 лет назад +1

      I totally agree Gibson. some people are really concerned about size *cough cough Aydin* but i don't think it matters for these extinct animals that are often fragmentary. Plus does it really matter if giga is bigger that spino or mapu bigger than rex? not really, size in my opinion is not what makes a dinosaur cooler than another.

    • @BionicleSaurus
      @BionicleSaurus  5 лет назад

      The fine specifics of an animal's exact size are largely irreverent to understanding it.

    Well as far as I know Mapusaurus was smaller than Tyrannosaurus. But I enjoyed your review on this guy, and I am glad your were pointing out just how, as you put it, “anti-climactic” this is, I have seen a few people (not gonna say names) being way too enthusiastic about this one in particular.
    But I also think that the thin body really should have been classified more as an inaccuracy than you accounted for in your review, even though Mapusaurus wasn’t nearly as big or impressive as other dinos, it still was massive and that figure feels nothing like it should. Which to your credit you did point out, but I do think that should have classified as an inaccuracy.
    Great review though, I appreciated the more genuine look at the figure as I have been considering it. From these impressions I give it a 7/10 on your scale, but I would have to see in hand.

    • @BionicleSaurus
      @BionicleSaurus  5 лет назад +2

      A nine *is* pretty high, but I don't know, I still find this to be a pretty great looking large Theropod figure, especially in terms of pose and silhouette. I agree that it's too gracile and I probably should have harped on it more for that, looking at skeletals and such, I now see that the genus was actually significantly more heavily built and muscular than I first thought.

    • @Kikizilla101
      @Kikizilla101 5 лет назад

      BionicleSaurus yeah but its still a minor gripe, I really enjoyed how efficient and lacking in blabber this review is, something I am working on currently.

    I love me some South American dinosaurs. Also I do think Mapusaurus needs more figures, as well as Tyrannotitan, to go along with the existing Gigas. And same with many more South American dinosaurs.

    Actually, it's Mapusaurus THEN Tyrannosaurus Rex. Largest known specimen for Mapusaurus was 40 ft. Sue is bigger than any known Mapu.

    • @paleoguy2165
      @paleoguy2165 5 лет назад

      the largest t rex is 12.3 metres, and an average mapu is 12.6 metres. it could have easily reached 13 metres.

      @@paleoguy2165 "This makes it only just smaller than the largest T. rex specimen known. However, the teeth, jaws and skull of Mapusaurus was very different. Mapusaurus had a long, narrow, lighter skull, that was not as powerful as the Tyrannosaurus rex skull. ... Mapusaurus was probably a faster runner and more agile than T. rex ." Dec 20, 2014 - I just found this on Wikipedia. Like I said: Mapu THEN Tyrannosaurus. Don't worry. You still Have Carchar, Giga and Spino over the Rex.
