OH MY Goodness! I've been looking for this kind of music forever!!! Today, I just 'accidentally' found this group, who are new to me, and I am just standing here in awe! My soul dances again.
Ribot's solo in this song is flawless
SUCH a great video. I love how Zorn always just looks like a big kid playing with toys.
Wonderful wonderful stuff.
this will never get old. Rare, true, timeless art.
He wrote the piece. It is partially notated. If you notice, the players will come in and drop out according to his hand signals. John Zorn is famous for conducting. He invented multiple systems of hand signals for "conducting" improvisors, used most famously in his "game" pieces, Naked City, and Masada. I'd never seen it done so the video was fascinating.
BTW, there are some downright great Naked City and Masada vids on RUclips!
thank you for repeating google... very inetresting...
@@BarbieChaite shut up smartass, also stop replying to every youtube comment LOL!
Joey Baron has one of the most extensive musical vocabularies of any drummer I've heard... always fresh and one of my favorites.
that violin player just gave me an eargasm
SO Good! I Love how happy Zorn looks. I guess I would be too if my band was so amazing.
People, this is music, to each his own interpretation of it. Just make sure to enjoy it.

Zorn is a genius, saw his concerto for Japan, playing with Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, magnificent
Well, João Gordo by Ratos de Porão recommended John Zorn and it's really amazing ! Tks, João ! :)

Thank you very much for having such skills and good taste!
it`s definetly not a waste of time if you figure out the bassline for yourself! i`d recommend a program called "transcribe" - it slows down the audio without changing the pitch - really helped me a lot
tuve que fumarme otrop gallito saludos mariajuanos zorneros desde Chicali Kirbis a todo dar Zorn!!!!!!

Christ Zorn has an eye for wondrous musicains
Thank you for sharing! ^_^
i've got his all performances at warsaw jazz days, ahh its tremendous
wow. wonderful. THANKS
💜
weel you've got it absolutely right. It isn't really from anywhere - written by John Zorn an American "jazz" Saxophone player - I guess what he wanted whith this music wa to mix klezer/eastern and jazz :)
wawaweeewa !!!!
Awesome !
An interpretation of the Torah, that actually might be useful if applied to the correct vibrational centres. For instance, I would recommend this if you are feeling dull and constipated.
Just because you don't get laid.....
Ahhh. Yes, Definitely,,, getting laid helps with constipation. Wanker!
John Zorn is creating a new song with elements that have been used before in his songs. It has the same name as a song that they have played before, but it is not the exact same song. Zorn conducts them-he figures out when he wants parts to come in again and how he wants this rendition to go. So, I would not say that it's terrible that he conducts them.
O.M.D j'adorre c'est trop beau
Fried sounds amazing!
This is how music says "yes."
I gotta say, pretty good comment. nice one, 9-years-ago rhodri
❤️
If there's ever a nobel prize that mathers... it should go for this guys.

Tremendo!!!
Marc Ribot.
ladies and gentlemen, john zorn on the pojamas
superb!
for years now I've found it quite funny that my favorite John Zorn music does not have John Zorn. no insult... I'm simply not a fan of screechy sax. If you doubt the talent however, you are a fool.
Zorn is a composer foremost.

Mark Feldman.
very similar to an original brazilian samba
it's very academic and boring... what a genius...
better than studio
Nice song, but I agree the solo part was sometimes a bit sloppy.
can someone (with a nice ear) help me to figure out the bass line of this, i guess that starts with g, bflat, bf, d, eflat, a, d, ef.... im only asking for the first 13 seconds, im gonna try by myself but i think there are many musicians watching this so...or maby this is just a waste of time??
기분전환에 도움이^^
!
i like your statistics lol.
sabon, vê aos 1:46
i think you mean an ear
i can create this with 4 people and have
lol ;)
in masada john zorn tries to create a jewish sounding music using the phrygian dominant scale
They are both fine players, but I'm with you. Erik Friedlander is an unbelievably good improvisor. Feldman is good, but too often he goes back to the same tricks and gadgets in his solos (listen to him on some of John Abercrombie's discs). Though... even Friedlander is kind of hemmed in with this formulaic music.
