As someone who never really played the tcg and currently just opens packs in pocket, your explanation of these cards almost makes me want to try out battles…almost
As someone who doesn’t TCG or play pocket, thank you do doing this video. I like to learn about Pokémon stuff even if I’ve no intent in doing any of it. The 2 times a year I get to hang with Pokemon friends I like to understand what they are talking about. ❤
I’m expecting that that there will be some metal support that synchronizes well with Dialga, and it also provides a lot of opportunity for colourless pokemon like pidgeot. I think a Dialga/Pidgeot EX deck would shake things up
It awesome that you have the knowledge and foresight to say if a card will be good or not. Explanations like this make me excited for the new decks that will come out of this. It's great to have another way to play pokemon that isn't just the console games for me at least.
You are not seeing that far with Dialga doesn't matter if mewtwo can onseshot melmetal, tauros or mew when you switch your dialga out they are eliminating the mewtwo threat
No. People are overhyping the acceleration. Pikachu, for example, could knock out Dialga as fast as Diagla could put 1 energy on the bench. On top of that, Pikachu is 2 for 90 or Dialga is 4 for 100. It’s not a bad card, but people are overhyping it.
@@PKMNcast Dialga puts *2 energy into the bench not 1 you hit pika put 2 energy on tauros if he hits you back he is dying Worst case scenario if pika hit first then it is a trade ex for ex
You’re right. It makes Tauros much better like I said in the video, but besides that Mew (which does zero against Pika) and maybe Pidgey-line, no other current cards really benefit. If someone is playing Pidgey, really easy for Pikachu to play around that before getting to Stage 2. I’d assume we see something more beneficial for Dialga to send to on the bench.
I feel like some of the tools should have an "Attach to non-EX Pokemon" text. That could open up a lot more powerful and interesting tools for less viable Pokemon.
[TCG n00b here] I'm a little confused, do you have to play tool cards together with a Pokemon card (kinda like how a held item in the mainline games is already "attached" to the Pokemon when you send it out)? Or do you play them the same way you would play a item or supporter card?
Question: I have 4 mew ex cards I used one of them to get the flair from the event, so that flair is gonna apply to all my mewS copies that I still have or just a single one? Thanks in advance 😅
I hope they release more steel to go with Dialga. It's not like every Pokémon has to be Gen 4 in the packs. Hell, we got Greninja in the Kanto themed boosters.
-Dialga only works if there's a great metal type pokemon (or 2) in this set. Magnezone, Probopass, Bastiodon, Heatran? -Palkia only works if you get some Misty luck. -Piplup>Chimchar>>>>>>>>>Turtwig (woof) -Tool cards are a game-changer. Having to give up 1-2 of the 20 deck limit will be an interesting choice though. -Lucario will get a fair bit of play with most fighting decks. -Leafeon is just bad lol -Honchkrow depends on retreat cost, imo. -Cynthia will be fun! Blaine but with stage 2's is an interesting trade off. (Does more, but takes longer to set up) -Garchomp depends on energy types. -Cress will get some play, not a lot. Pretty much everything is balanced to have flaws, which is how you keep game parity.
Currently, it’s not good. It doesn’t have enough support. We’ll see after this next set if steel decks can find themself in the meta. I really hope so I’ve been praying for more dragon and steel types.
I hardly see anyone running Mew2 anymore. Might see a Celebi/Pikachu once every 10 games or so, but everything in between is water, maining Gyarados/something or Articuno/greninja.
Darkrai would be weak to 🍃, just like the other "actual Dark type" 🌚 Pokemon. As of Mythical Island, only Liepard like is "actual Dark type" with weakness to 🍃. The rest of the 🌚 Pokemon in the game so far are "Poison" 🌚 type, giving them the weakness to 🥊. Weezing, Arbok, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, etc. PS I wish Water/Rock and esp Water/Ground would be weak to 🍃 and not ⚡. I don't like how Gen 8 onwards in the TCG sidelined 🍃 type again. Could happen in Pocket, too.
I play Pocket on Twitch twitch.tv/pkmncast

Well why don’t u? Wouldn’t hurt if u already play the TCG
@@J.D.DaGOAT808I don’t play the tcg. Card games aren’t really my thing but I appreciate Steve’s passion for the Pokémon TCG and Pocket
@ mb I read ur comment wrong I apologize, and I get it not everyone has to like TCGs, but if u every decide to try it out I hope u like it
You totally should give it a shot! Pocket is very approachable compared to other tcgs (including irl Pokémon tcg)
I would recommend at least trying it. I've found it very fun
Dialga, mew and tauros could be good
And pidgeot

I love that lucario card 20:10
Me too!

Thank you so much
Tools seem likely to be type specific. As in effect to certain type or only effective on certain type. Can’t wait to see what the set will bring.
VOD on the main channel! Didn't catch this one live, thanks for the upload Steve
This isn't the VOD, this was highly edited from 2.5 hours for the purpose of making a "normal" video
@@PKMNcast my bad! still appreciate getting to watch your analysis after missing it on stream

Yeah he’s sleeping on Dialga
It’s gong to be the literal counter Mewto cards. Both palkia and Dialga
No. People are overhyping the acceleration. Pikachu, for example, could knock out Dialga as fast as Diagla could put 1 energy on the bench.

It’s like a held item. It’ll stay on a Pokemon until that Pokemon faints.
@@PKMNcast Ok great, thanks!

Only 1
Very professional 👌
I think you miss the point, about dialga. 2 to 2 free energy, not limited to metal metal can now be multi color easy.!
I still don’t think it’s OP, it’s fine
I hope we get more deck slots😂 I already used it all for all my decks
That’s the real update we need 😭
Dialga can be used outside of Metal decks
You’d need 2 metal energy to use the first attack
Very informative video about all of the ways that I will be defeated by the whales during the first couple of weeks of this new set lol
😂😂😂😂
I only collect, and this is one of the many reasons why
@@Tuco_Salamanca3Loser
Dialga is kinda like Moltres, more of a support mon.
If togekiss is colorless then it will pair with dialga
True!
Let’s face it, Mewtwo Ex is the real issue.
I think in pocket there should be 30 card decks
Blaine is back in business 🙂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
They just revealed pachirisu and honchkrow and cresselia before this came out 😢
Dialga works great with pidgeot EX
Dialga with Mew EX
It's 120 hp pachi
I wouldn't have an ex be a stall/tank
I tend to agree
its leaked 120 hp but we got tools which so lets see
🙌

Bah bah bah
"Dialga Palkia ... Darkrai"
I thought we've lived through enough Giratina erasure already, why do they keep doing this xD

Darkrai would also be weak to Grass, not Fighting, as per the recent TCG mechanics. Look at Liepard as current proof.
Pretty accurate but you gotta build more respect for melmetal it's a really good card bruh ...and idk if you misread but dialga gives 2 energy not one
I’ve been playing the TCG for a long time, I’ve never been a fan of 4 energy mons in general. Just my opinion.

Mewtwo still has the most tournament wins and the highest win percentage in tournament settings. It got more consistent with Mythcial Slab too.
Garchomp is fighting, it showed gible as fighting. Edit: I’ve since seen my mistake
No its dragon
Gible is literally shown as Dragon
@ ok, my mistake. I thought it looked like fighting. I’m all for more dragon types.
@ I see that upon review. I thought that looked like fighting energy. 🤒🤦♂️
What if they have a Byron trainer card that attached 2 steel to a pokemon
Doubtful
@PKMNcast well what else would a Byron card do except accelerate steel types
@benmurphy7850 how about one steel energy?
Dialga will power up pidgyot ex end of story
