    I once stumbled upon a video of Al Schmidt compressing ...a bass I think... He really just touched it like 1,5 to maybe 2 dB max and it made all the difference. It was a crazy eye opener to me

    ive heard quite a few high level mixers say they dont compress too much. they use automation, which i a way is like manual compression/expansion.

    1 thing i found out is that i can hear compression better when in mono

      Roberts insight on performers feeling comfortable with something as small as having a pencil is brilliant. It hit me like a ton of bricks when he said when a performer says that they can’t hear their self, he (Robert) defaults to the premise that is the performer isn’t comfortable they may not perform well.
