It takes filling up the tube 2.5 times before the fluid started draining out the fill hole for me. I get motion sick laying down and getting back up multiple times so make note if thats an issue for you especially if you are doing all three of the fluids back to back. Great video.
Paul, thanks for the video and your clear and understandable step by step instructions. How often should this Transfer Case Fluid be changed? I heard the first one at 15k and then every 30K. Would like to get your thoughts on this. Also, when does the rear Differential Fluid need to be changed? Thanks
You’re welcome. I’m planning to change mine every 30,000 miles. If you have a new truck and want to do the first change at 15,000 that certainly won’t hurt anything. You will get the most metal shavings out of your first change. I’m going to keep my transmission fluid, transfer case, and rear differential on the same 30,000 mile interval. I purchased this one with about 32,000 miles already on it so I just started where I was. When I have purchased a vehicle new, I did do my first change sooner.
I would recommend changing the rear differential at 15,000 mile intervals and the transfer case at 30,000 mile intervals. Once the differential is well broken in, say at 60,000 miles, I think it’s OK to go to 30,000 mile intervals at that point if you’re not getting a lot of metal shavings on the drain bolt magnet.
