Allegedly there also is a bug with ESM in the current release version rendering ESM defunct in many (most? all?) surface units, making EMCON somewhat questionable at the moment. Haven't experimented with it myself to verify, but I've had quite a few oddities in scenarios with exclusively surface vessels where I've actually made first contact visually sailing on EMCON.
Glad you enjoyed it and hope you have better luck on the next go around... this one was my favorite to make out of them all :) I am about to release the next 5 missions in the set which greatly expand the storyline and scope of the campaign. Cheers
Excellent scenario; the Indonesian Navy at this time would help the US Navy due to their close relations. They have some Claud Jones class, Fatahillah Class, Tribal and Van Speijiks, and some Soviet ships, like Riga or Sverdlov, but they are either stricken or lack spare parts, rendering them useless. Some subs like Type 209 (Cakra-class) and, if stretched maybe some Whiskey but the same fate as other Soviet ships. Also funny thing that the AA located in Krakatoa archipelago, that's epic and very brave crew
Indonesia, founding and one of the most active members of the Non-Aligned Movement? I very much doubt so. If anything they'd be strongly protesting both sides for taking it out on their coast.
@joaopedrosateles2679 AHAHAHA, yeah, the Non-Aligned Movement was not that respected back then. They were close to the Soviets in 65, then after the coup became practically close friends of the US; true that may be in the beginning that would protest, but if full-scale war broke out back then, they might take sides
If this is the time when the soviet still exist, than i believe all those ships are still in good conditions, especially the parchim class, if this is an alternate history when the soviet are somehow still exist in 21st Century, than the Indonesian would also include a lot of newer line ship like sigma corvettes and frigates ( Diponegoro and Martadinata Class) and a LOT of fast missile boat
@@briantarigan7685 at that time in the 80s? Well, yes, but the issue is ideology; Indonesia back in the 80s was staunchly anti-communist as it was a government created with the help of the US, so the Soviets would not want to supply the potential enemy with their spare parts and weapons system. That might sound fun for 21st century
@darrellhartanto4428 eh, it depends, i wonder if the chinese would have some replacement, they would help considering the Chinese Soviet split, i always thought that some Indonesia's soviet air and naval assets could be saved if the New order are willing to work more with the Chinese at that time, alas the aquisition of F-86 Saber and the selling of MIG-21 and the dismantling of the rest of the soviet assets are more due to the political pressure even though some technical issues were also there.
That poor Merchant detected from the very start, watching the mayhem unfold from her bridge... :D "Uuh, how sure are you all those missile streaks over there won't come our way? You really wanna keep going?"
I think the risk of giving away your location which they already generally know where you are is far outplayed by the benefit of spotting missiles farther out. So much death when I've played these missions. haha
Standard missiles are quite nice in ASuW mode. While quite prone to chaff and not as hard hitting, but they're substantially faster than a Harpoon ever will be. However, despite carrying 52 SM-1s w/o VLS, a Kidd can run of those missiles in a jiffy especially with the older SM-1.
vls/the ntu mod is so broken tho (love my ben franklin class sub with 112 tomahawks with 675 nm range!!), i hope there is a pact ntu mod soon to catch them up
@WiscoGrimReaper A Pact NTU? There is no Pact NTU, the NTU is literally a program by the USN to upgrade its older ships to a system similar to AEGIS. By the time NTU, the Soviet Union was in the process of declining and when it did finally collapse in the late 80s and early 90s.
After watching through all of it, this feels like one of the first truly complicated missions perhaps? The mix of a real surface threat, a submarine covered by AAA and ultra-long range ASuW planes makes this really feel like you're prey for once, not the predator.
the sub was a real nightmare to me with its wakehomers which I cant think of on how to defeat unless you hide behind land, which I did in this scneario. All of its 6 or 8 hit land because as soon as they got detected by my sub, my SAG turned about and took shelter behind the landmass
This is a difficult scenario. I had a problem with detecting the coastal artillery it was messing my ships up. I detected that tu 16 and wasted no time staying out of range. I defeated most those ships by launching as fast as possible. Still had to deal with that sub which did fire many torpedoes which i avoided but i used up some noise makers for confusion. Have to be tactically in this mission.
Both AAA and land anti-ship missiles systems are broken at this moment. Rubezh system should replace improvised SS-N-2 launchers and AA guns should be paired with air defence or coastal defence systems. Originally KSM-65 (coastal defence version of KS-19 anti-air gun) was paired with Zalp-B1 radars which enable to track 100mm shell impacts in full range of these guns.
visually. You know, the thing they used to hit targets twice and thrice as far? Optical range finders? And neither the helo nor the battery are at sea level.
Hey Stealth! I've been making some scenarios and made a few that I'd like to see you try out! The two I'd recommend is Guardian Forrestal, centered around the carrier Forrestal and defending the Gulf of Mexico / Cuba from various threats, and the other one is Philippines Ho, where you play as the USSR trying to push into the South East Asian sea and reach the Philippines / Guam
Is it just me, but it seems completely unrealisctic that neither your SH 2F nor the sonobuoy did pick up the Osa and it's group at the beginning, considering it flew almost directly over that area? The delay seems really big, it's a full minute from the drop of the buoy until the get spotted at around the 4 minute mark. That is essentially the moment you lost the mission, since you could not kill off the soviet battlegroup quickly with your harpoons.
IIRC they removed sonobuoys detecting surface ships - a decision I disagree with, I’d rather have a good choice of active and passive, shallow and deep sonar buoys. And not all with directional capabilities. Also, they should live a bit longer …
@@bobtank6318 Yeah, I know. But still the helicopter was like 3 miles away and did not VID nor even see the boats. But then there's instances where aircraft VID stuff from more than 20 miles away.
BTW @Stealth -- make sure you unsubscribe and resubscribe to the mission set before next playthrough, it looks like you are on an older version before I fixed some community-reported issues!
So far, easily the worst aspect of the game is the damage. A destroyer the size of some cruisers is hit with ONE missile that wouldn't even sink a frigate. But the DDG still goes down 🤦♂ Really hope they fix that soon and make it so that the crew at least TRIES to save the ship
Sup stealth, I´m getting some trouble with asking units to identify themselves, I know I need to have the unit that is detecting them selected, but when I do I can´t right click the contact because my unit goes in for VID and the menu does not open, thanks for any help in advance.
@ any plan to retry this scenario? I think you was too much focused on EMCON, it is good and standard for mission like Soviet SAG group rush through Gilbatrar but for type of scenario like this, once engagement start, all radars should be on to give you info. There’s no points of EMCON once enemy got your bearing.

EMCON does not affect weapons in game right now. The FCR are not tied to it and are considered to be on if there is a weapon in the air
