    I’ve been a cop for 25 years and I honestly believe that it was the influx of returning veterans of Iraq/afganistsn who - as they came aboard Law Enforcement agencies- showed us that acknowledging and accepting mental health issues is not a weakness; it’s mandatory. 20 years ago I wouldn’t have asked for help for fear of being thought “unreliable” or that I can’t take it. Now we have accepted that we can’t always control our body and mind’s reactions to traumatic events and that reaction isn’t something to hide…it’s something to deal with. We have seen a drop in suicides and addiction (self medication) in law enforcement since. We basicallly needed to believe that you’re still a man if you need help. I know you know Mover

    Shawn is good and knows exactly what he's doing. I definitely see his education and experience with mental health. Mover, the lived experience you described involving developing grounding techniques are skills built for really processing traumas with a professional later on when it is safe to do so, that might not be until ten years from now when you are done flying due to needing to be in a safe place to do so but to those struggling on here who are in that safe place now, those are the EXACT skills you want to have mastered in order to process serious traumas that cause daily disruption in your life. Thank you to all of the speakers who bring this up in the show. It is something not talked about enough, especially the fact that pilots as mentioned really do struggle with it the most. Thank you for allowing us to learn from your sacrifices, and lives. God bless.

    Mover thank you for sharing your story. That sounds really hard, and heavy and we appreciate you sharing that story. That story will impact someone. You are not judged, your feelings are valid.

      The number of your MHM's over the years that have brought me to tears from how emotionally honest you are is impressive. Life is hard and you get through it with the connection of other humans. We don't always see the world the same way but I have immense respect for you.

    Great episode as always with Shawn around. Too bad I was in a dead zone and couldn't watch it live. Mover, you and Doug need to compile and write the MHM into a nonfiction book. Everybody can learn from it. And Gonky can be in charge of illustrations!

    I had a duck strike through my windshield. But I wasn’t flying, i was driving through the aussie outback in a truck. That bloody thing was 200 ft up in the air and I watched it fall right on me. Those things have weight.

      The Italian model Fabio was hit by a Canada Goose right in the nose riding a roller coaster. He was riding it on a promotional visit. He was recorded and photographed as part of the visit and there are a lot of photos of that with his nose all bloodied.

    I heard the birds were only 15 ounces, but could have hit a bunch of them. Also - another theory was they pulled both fire extinguishers which would have caused the CVR to not have any power.

    the fan is an old school way of de-fogging. use to have them in our work vehicles but we'd just break them and turn the fan around since the cab wasn't heated they did nothing to de-fog the windshield.

      Fans won't necessarily work unless the air is really warm and/or the incoming air comes from an A/C that will dry out that air. The front defrost setting on a car will nearly always turn on the A/C. I've even seen some cars where A/C light goes on and the A/C doesn't turn off when defrost it turned off.

    With the Starship explosion......I watched a video on another channel and they mentioned the Flight Termination System (FTS) may have been triggered by SpaceX, and not an actual RUD of the vehicle.

  • @JoeStevens
    @JoeStevens 8 дней назад

    For the starship exploding, they have contingency debris field planned before the launch that are part of the FAA launch license, but those are only sent out the Air traffic controllers so that they can activate them if there is an issue. Those fields are not part of the NOTAM and TFR that are issued for the launch. Less than ten years ago that whole area would have been a TFR, but with the increase of launches and the FAA's newish commercial launch license process they reduced the TFR's size to reduce the impact to commercial aviation.
    I think coming out of this incident we will see that those contingency debris area will be published before the launch so that airline planers will know about them before the flight.

    H1B visas for foreign aviation candidates. Your English speaking country probably doesn't have the cool planes the U.S. military has. Your country might not even have an air force.
