Baby saree is almost available everywhere in the Kolkata local market. The only difference is the price. Gariahat is mostly more bargaining friendly.

Did you bargain while buying that luxury bag which you are carrying ?? I hardly write any comments and I like you personally but being a public figure don't promote all these just to show you are giving raw content, paying 100 extra will not impact you but can bring a bonus for that salesperson.
I do appreciate your concern towards the salesmen 👏 but understand one point, bargaining is not a bad thing!! Of course it’s not something that one needs to promote but it is not as bad as you think it is. Let me explain in points:
- luxury bags or any other branded items come with manufacturer calculated prices which are the highest price that can be charged for a product I.e fixed price and that price includes all the costs like manufacturing, marketing, transportation, etc…
- street items are not fixed and all costs are not included hence, the prices often fluctuate and moreover, the salesmen are well aware that bargaining happens. So they increase the prices beforehand!! For example, if a product’s cost is Rs.100, they’ll increase it to Rs.500 so that even if we bargain to a level of Rs.400 or Rs.300, they wouldn’t suffer any losses!! They are not as innocent as you think!! They are street smart and know how to do their business well. That’s why if you observe carefully, they’ll allow bargaining only to a certain level where they are not at loss. If they feel even for a slightest moment that they are going into loss, they’ll say it on our faces directly in a very rude manner that ‘Ab iske aage kam nahi ho sakta hai, lena hai tho lo warna nikal jao’!! 😂 So you don’t have to worry!!
- Moreover, branded items have quality, durability, longevity and are an investment I.e their prices never fall even in the future!! You can sell them at the same price even after 20 years!! And that’s another reason why branded items are never bargained whereas, street items’ quality is not that good. Most of the times they don’t even last for an year and their prices keep decreasing to a level where you cannot even get a penny if you want to sell it after few years!! Hence, people don’t find the worth to pay high prices for street items and keep bargaining
It’s definitely not a great thing to do but also not a bad thing as even street salesmen are most of the times very conniving and try to loot us by raising the prices of the items that do not deserve so much of money!!
