Andor is amazing, it is gritty, tense and it does give respect to all its characters. None of them are there just for the sake of it, they all have purpose. The beauty of the show is that it doesnt depend on light sabers, extensive battles, funny creatures. It has beautiful story, complex characters and amazing actors. Im worried that due to lack of audience this show might not get enough budget to up the ante next season

Andor is made for the hardest of hardcore Star Wars fans. Who've always wanted to see a edgy, more adult version.

I think this is probably a big reason. No big name to hook people in like Boba Fett and Obi Wan. Mandalorian had the novelty of being the first Star Wars show which was enough of a hook to get people on board, was actually good so people kept coming back, was relatively short so people with low attention spans didn't tune out, and wasn't a particularly complex story so people didn't have to pay too much attention to details. Andor has none of those qualities, in addition to coming after two stinkers, so the general audience just largely tuned it out. This is all my opinion of course.

People like Star Wars for different things. Some like the lightsabers and flashy duels, some like the wacky and cute aliens, some want a fantasy story in space. It's okay if Andor doesn't appeal to every Star Wars fan (even though I love it and hope more Star Wars is made like it).

Weeks later I heard amazing things about episode 6, and I was like "really"?
So I decided to wait and binge. I started yesterday and holy shit. This show is *made* for the binge format. These 3 episode arcs work so well when you can watch them back to back and the pacing is so much better. The "storm" in episode 6 is one of the most visually stunning moments in all of Star Wars.

But yet the Mandalorian, Obi Wan, and Book of Boba Fett all did well in terms of viewership numbers. There is more going on than just Disney churning out poor Star Wars product because people tuned in for Obi Wan & BoBF.
Andor is a great show on the wrong platform. I think the issue is that it is on a Disney streaming service and a lot of the subscribers are going to be people looking for family entertainment or a straight forward space adventure with their Star Wars, and Andor isn't that. Andor is for a more mature audience. I'd wager viewership numbers for Andor would have been higher if it was on HBO.

From what I've seen this show is better than anything that came out of Star Wars. EVER. That in itself is, however, no guarantee for a huge audience because sadly a lot of people don't go to Star Wars for sophisticated storytelling about the creation of a rebellion. They want evil Sith lords who wear black cloaks and good Jedi who wear white cloaks, dumb space battles and shiny lightsabers and that's it, unfortunately.

I've been talking about this on RUclips and social media for months. This may shock some of you but this fan community bubble we all partake in isn't even close to the general audience numbers outside of it. If you go by the community you'd think Obi-Wan was a despised tv series. When in reality it was loved by many casual fans who don't engage in this community. There's that & to compare this to pro wrestling, being "Over", is the most important thing in that business. What that means is the fans one way or the other incite a reaction from you & it's the people that make you FEEL that make the money. Like it or not very few people cared about the characters in Rogue One therefore care even less about the characters that inhabit Andor. While I did like Rogue One that was my biggest gripe with the movie that outside of Andor & K2SO (I feel they really dropped the ball on the main character Jyn Erso), I don't care about anybody in this movie. Say what you want about the sequel trilogy, people cared about Rey, Finn, Poe & Kylo Ren.
Andor is a fantastic series and something very different than what we've seen in Star Wars. It's a show many of us in the community are loving but since these characters aren't "Over" like Obi-Wan, Anakin, Leia etc, they aren't drawing the money (another wrestling term, not saying the show isn't making Disney money, relax). So in wrestling terms, while Andor is putting on the intense in ring match you see in independent wrestling promotions that make respectable money at the gate of a modest size building, Obi-Wan with the stars that are Over are filling major 15-20K seat arenas making the BIG cash. In the end, these are just numbers, if you like something that's all that matters.

I agree Andor is the best SW show on Disney Plus and it’s a show I’ve been waiting for that doesn’t adhere to the family friendly confines of previous SW. That being said, it will not be for everyone. Even hardcore fans may not like it depending on what they like most about SW. SW needs to be diverse though with new types of stories and characters so it doesn’t become stale. As fans get older and new younger fans come onboard, they need to appeal to both. It’s hard to do that in a single movie or TV show like Book of Boba Fett and Obiwan. Mandalorian appealed to both young and old though and was a big hit. I for one like a variety of content from fall award contenders to summer blockbusters. We’ll see what direction they go with The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew.

This is not seeing the forest for the trees. Of course Andor is amazing. It's written well. The performances are award-worthy. I watch every week. That said, it is the least Star Wars thing Star Wars has ever made. The property has a hundred things that are proprietary to Star Wars and the creators have increasingly become "too cute" with their choices. Essentially by forfeiting space battles, lightsabers, Jedi, Sith, a galaxy of aliens and droids -- all they made was a regular sci-fi/fantasy show. It's not that special from everything else out there. No different than putting out a new Indiana Jones, remove the whip and hat. All you did was make National Treasure or Tomb Raider. Which is fine, but people expect Indiana Jones stuff when you tell them it is Indiana Jones. Just trying too hard to be different, that you really only make something generic. At some point we have to stop expecting people to buy into new characters and shooting styles and tones when they simply don't have any emotional attachment to any of those three things. We have way more emotional attachment to the wipe transition and the opening crawl than we do Cassian Andor. Grown adults cried seeing Luke in Mandalorian -- don't underestimate that emotional attachment. That's the only thing that has kept Star Wars relevant for decades -- how the old stuff made us feel.

However, this show doesn’t resonate with casual fans, younger people, and children. There are some very heavy themes and I know so many families that aren’t watching this one as a unit, but rather the parents watch it when the kids go to bed.
For example with casual fans; I said it was really cool how a secondary character like Mon Mothma has been given this show to stand out from amongst the characters we all know and love.
