All the comments on baked beans and HP sauce and you poor people had to suffer through a very messy passage (and I added to them too!)!! Anyway, just wanted to balance it out a bit. Having done quite a few of those up and down the east coast of the US and across to the Azores in Super Maramus, I know exactly what you mean. At least you weren't all dealing with sea sickness as well. The boys seem to have their sea legs. Those kinds of unpredictable waves causing the boat to yaw all over always get me. Well done for dealing with it with your usual aplomb. The journey will be worth it in the end! Stay safe.

I’m a little confused? Heinz is an American company started in the late 1800’s with the invention of ketchup and it merged with another American foods company Kraft Foods in 2015. Heinz baked beans has always been available in the USA so it isn’t just in the UK, in fact the only UK connection for Kraft/Heinz is their acquisition of UK candy company Cadbury in 2010. I much prefer Busch’s baked beans with all of their varieties like maple & cured bacon, brown sugar Hickory, honey sweet etc., and I have visited the Busch’s plant in Tennessee.

I see that you have your life jacket on, which is also very good, but because you are wearing your zip line, you do not fasten it so that you do not fall overboard, I see that some sailors just walk around without a life jacket, you are thinking about your safety. are indeed big waves as your one son says. Looking forward to the next video. Keep it safe and sailing

We wear lifejackets when outside the cockpit underway or in rough weather and at night . We fasten the zip ( life line) when we are outside the cockpit but not if it is very calm.

Wow...how do you guys put up with that side to side motion without going nuts? Are you secretly buying one of those cool new Catamarans like the other channels have done?? Really curious to see if you go for HH, or Outremer 52 or maybe a new custom aluminum one?? Please let us know which it will be as we are so curious! I guess old fashioned monos are now done in 2024, right?

Nah we are sticking with this boat …we could never really afford a catamaran and to be honest, I find the motion of a catamaran a little disconcerting.

Watching your boat toss & turn in the ocean makes me sick just watching it and I’m not even on the boat. I think that you have a single hull boat? Does a cat bounce around as much as a single hull boat? I don’t have any envy as I don’t think I could survive the seasickness, but I do have a lot of admiration for you.

I think a catamaran has a different motion , more slamming under the deck. I prefer the monohull motion but each to their own 😉

You said you had a sat phone, but I didn't see the handheld. Was it just the base station you're using to get emails and weather updates. I was watching a news video last week about Brighton inshore rescue hunting for a small fishing boat missing offshore, but I couldn't make out your replacement anywhere. Probably, no one with your boating skills was available.

The iridium go is a mobile satellite device that you can connect to with a mobile device or even laptop to download the predict wind GRIB files .
We also have a handheld vhf but that only works for boats within sight .
Brighton lifeboat has a pretty good bunch of crew now … way better than me ;)
