      I voted. Hey i would love to see anothwr drezs in a royal blue or red with the ruffles in the lace you had in your hand. But leave the ribbon across the pelvis area off. Just wondering what tgat combo would look like

      Hey would you ever consider us going to a goodwill thrift shop and picking a dress that we thought would make a,wonderful dress for you to revamp. Maybe buy two because here in Arizona I can go to the goodwill and what ever the tag sale color is you get for.......are you sitting down?..........ok you buy for just one dollar. I have even bought beautiful leather and suede items. What do you think? Would be an awesome completion for you. What can Evelyn make from some clothes from America.

    • @Evelyn__Wood
      @Evelyn__Wood 6 лет назад +1

      Royal blue and burgundy!!! Yes, i used the yellow ribbon across the hips to hide the seam I had to make so that I could use the blue section of the print. If it was a plain color you take this seam away and leave the front panel clear, This would look better in block colors I think!

      I love it!!! That is a fabulous idea!!! How much fun would that be!! If you're interested in doing something like this, I think we should talk about it! email me info@evelynwood.com.au And I can't believe just $1 for each item!! I bet in a place like that they have the best 70s and 80s clothes just perfect for refashioning!!

    when I read "1930s" I nearly jumped! Being a girl who's inspired by the 1930s, pre-war Germany and early 40s, it's not really common to find a channel that is mostly inspired off that era!!!

    This is so you. I enjoy following you and watching your creations. I'm into ready to wear fashion. I can work out a dress in an afternoon without a pattern. But then as I say I cheat. I have a serger and a cover stitch machine. I use a roller cutter and a mat I'll sometimes just pull something from the closet lay it out and cut around it. I also have a few bodice patterns that I've created that are easily modified skirts or nothing. I take inspiration from wherever I can and you are definitely one of those places.

    Wow! What a great pattern studio! You get me thinking my son doesn’t need that big a room... how terrible, don’t tell on me. My aunt laid everything out on this old microgrand piano for children, as she was the tallest at barely five two. Mom was five feet and their mother 4’8”! Of necessity more than anything all three were eidetic, once a pattern was established it stayed in their memory. A full sewing room was a luxury during those times and before, sometimes I feel like we lived a hundred years before! The house didn’t get electricity or plumbing until 1953, so of course the only sewing machine was peddled. With my aunt’s arthritis I got to sit below her, draped in fabric, pressing the peddle when she said go! Oh, we have come far, dear lady, and thank goodness. That pattern paper cutter is just very, very cool. I promised my son a bookshelf, do you think he will notice a pattern paper roller instead?

    I just brought a Singer 2259 and I am making a 1930's satin gown to my front ankles with a petite drop tulip back ankle back for a masquerade ball in Jan 2018. I will be getting help with seamstress instructor whom is interested in vintage style dress making. I also brought 1940's,1950's and 18th century patterns also. I love vintage dresses which look lovely on a short medium size body frame and I can change the material thru out the year. This is my first time using a sewing machine which I had to thread and I sewed a falling hem on my 1960's wide skirt dress. I was very proud that no one helped me therefore, I am ordering an adjustable body form to really get a true fit for my body frame. great video

    I would have loved to use a different hat with the dress, just because a race is a perfect opportunity to go big! Haha :D but I'm a hat girl. On you, I love the little fedora :)

      Evelyn Wood I never mind long detailed sewing videos and love that you include your thoughts as your coming up with designs! Keep up the good work ❤️

      Thanks! Yes, I am trying to do it a little more differently. Show what I am thinking and how it evolves so any new sewers can get a better idea of what the process looks like, and know its ok that things change and go wrong along the way!

      I totally would’ve voted for you until I discovered that I was two years too late, lol! I’m absolutely loving your videos. I believe wholeheartedly in up-cycling and often use thrift store finds to make costumes. I’m using a thrift store king size sheet right now to make the jumpsuit Princess Leia wore in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

    Evelyn, again, I love the sleeves. I don’t think I’ve ever found a pattern with quite that much material in the sleeve. The pink velvet dress you made had a ton of fabric in the sleeve. Please share with us where you get the patterns you look at on your phone. Is it a subscription to them, several of us have asked. I have the Simplicity vintage sleeve patterns, but your photos are authentic. Once again I say thank you so very much for sharing your talent with us. Elizabeth

    Gosh, you have an amazing eye to see the potential of fabric, thrifted items, etc. When you first chose the fabric, sorry, but I thought it was old ladyish. It turned out fantastic, so I'm shutting up now. ha
