To protest is a right of passage in order for the public to support and demonstrate their beliefs. However, the style of protest is at the core of whether you get the majority behind you. The Just Stop Oil activists definitely went about things in the most antagonistic and dangerous way which created the wrong message despite many saying this is the main object of a protest - to get noticed and hit the headlines. When you endanger innocent lives, ruin heritage sites or disrespect your fellow human beings, then you have to accept the consequences of those actions. Chris Packham does a great deal towards improving animal welfare and sticks his neck out for what he believes in which deserves some admiration but I think he was off point regarding the M25 and jail sentences .
The only question is whether you think that sending those that disrupt traffic is worthy of a draconian 5 year sentence or not. We can agree or disagree about that tactics, but that's by the by. Everyone is allowed to demostrate in a free and peaceful manner.They are NOT allowed by law obstruct the highways or inconvenience the general public from going about their lawful ways

The computer glitch was not intentional. Escalating protests when you cant people to go your side is terrorism.
If the illegal protesting behaviors escalate the arrests & lengthy sentences should escalate as well. Eventually they'll run out of people willing to risk their freedom. They should also get fined heavily, a few thousand pounds for the first offense, then increase by a thousand pounds for each subsequent offense for the organizers. He complains that their message isn't covered enough in the media. The media puts out what sells, if your issue doesn't garner enough public interest that isn't the media's fault.

Freedom of speech includes other people's right not to listen to you.
There are over 5 billion people in the world. Just think if you had to listen to every one of their views every day. I can't be done, so individual people can decide what they want to listen to. These protester's believe they have the right to force people to listen to their views. They don't, and should be imprisoned if they insist on doing so.

Chris Packham position is very weak and irrelevant. They broke the law and the damage from this illegal protest was severe. They had many ways to protest legally and they choose not to.
