Thank you for this retrospective of Alice Fredenham. I'm 90 years old, and I've played her audition video at least a hundred times. It reminds of slow dancing in 1950 to all the tunes she sings. And her voice can bring me to tears. Amanda's comment at Alice's BGT audition said it all, "...mesmerizing, sensual, I fell in love with you" Didn't we all?

Absolutely LOVE Alice's voice - I could literally listen to her all day! She was created to sing this type of 30's, 40's bar music seen on black and white TV screens during the Humphrey Bogart era. We rarely hear this kind of music anymore, if ever. Although her talent wasn't readily recognized and was rejected on multiple occasions, it took just ONE YES to change Alice's life! Wherever she is today, I sincerely hope that confidence exudes as she rebuffs the nay-sayers realizing that her unique voice cannot be replicated. The world needs to hear you, Alice - you were made for this - you and you alone. Just IN-CRE-DI-BLE!

Still the best I've ever heard. Angelina is close but Alice's version reduces me to tears with in the first few notes. Just as it did the first time I heard her sing it. It was so painful to watch her not be able to put that stage fright somewhere so she could continue her career. Her missing a verse in the next round broke my heart. She looked spectacular in that next round with that beautiful red dress. I know Simon worked with her after the show was done. But that's all I know.
Alice is the voice that I loved to listen to alone in the dark with a superior audio system that could give you all the clearest replays. But in the dark with the volume up to the level that you might hear at a club which would be her ideal venue. Listening in the dark is always my favorite way to listen to music. Thanks for your reaction.

Such a wonderful timeless moment of Ms. Fredenham's vocal performance on BGT -- So many powerful things contained in her stage performance in 2013. So glad to see she's produced on her terms so she can truly show what she''s capable of musically. Just feels so wonderful to see someone so humble and broken absolutely conquer the world in a few minutes on stage -- Timeless (it never gets old watching that moment)! Thanks again for this great review and update. We all could use more "happily ever-after" experiences in this darkened world.

Yes Alice isn’t being promoted right in my opinion. There needs to be some real talented producers to bring out her talents!
I hope they don’t leave her twisting in the dust, because she’s way way too talented to ignore! 🖖
I just got through listening to some of the record again that she put out. I think what’s missing is the passion we felt from the show that hasn’t matched the record.
This is why you need a very good producer, they can bring out something that no one else has. Let’s hope they find somebody worthy of her!

As one of ~600 people who contributed to Alice Fredenham's 2015 Kickstarter to fund production of her debut album, I was REALLY hoping you were going at least somewhat answer your video's title ..."where are they now". This didn't. Moreover, your summary contained several substantial errors.
    1) You missed mentioning one of he reasons why Alice was especially shy on 'Britain's Got Talent' (BGT). Alice first auditioned on the BBC's 'The Voice'. Alice did not win on that. Not winning was one thing. But the judges were asses and also played politics with Alice's subsequent appearance on BGT several weeks later. This foul play led to some accusing Alice of faking shyness. This hurt her a LOT.
    2) Contrary to what you said, Alice DID NOT WIN BGT 2013 While Alice did well in the first audition (which you showed), in the second audition (a semifinal round), the judges made a tactical error by counting texted votes from viewers as the basis to decide the winner of the semifinals. This was a poor choice, as it merely revealed that juveniles are the primary viewers, and are the ones who are most likely to text a response. Alice lost in the semifinals to two kids with appallingly dull performances.
    3) After losing in the semifinals, you missed mentioning that Alice used 'Kickstarter' to fund creation of her debut album. The funding ended on Valentine's day in 2015.
    4) The entity that was supposed to help promote Alice (Esoteric Recordings) proved to be incompetent on many levels. This hurt Alice's prospects.
    5) Despite Esoteric's incompetence, Alice recorded her album, entitled "Under the Covers" at Peter Gabriel's 'Real World' studios in England in 2015
    6) My guess is that funds ran short, delaying release. It took over a year between recording and the album's release (December 2016 in England, February 2017 in the U.S.)
    7) The album has ten songs. Any song from Alice is welcome, but a common album critique is that the band didn't complement Alice's magical voice. Some of the songs also are not optimal for Alice's voice. Still, I have several favorite songs on it. I wish the latter song you played 'Someone to Watch Over Me" was on the album, but it's not.
    8) The saddest thing is that Alice appeared to have stopped singing by the time of her debut album's release (end of 2016). Shortly after that, her website became inoperative and eventually disappeared. Alice also stopped posting on her Facebook and Twitter accounts. Alice has not posted a single comment on either in over five years.
    9) I am aware of a total 10 songs on her album plus 16 songs not on her album (including the three auditions) and three interviews.
    10) Since 2017 I have heard zero about Alice. I hoped this might change when I saw your video. But Alice has disappeared so completely that were I to say she had been abducted aboard a UFO by Martian aliens, you would not be able to prove me wrong. We can just hope Alice is doing well.

All of this is so very sad. She is such a unique and beautiful talent. The industry is truly a mess. What a shockingly lost opportunity. She's very special. She could easily have become a movie star. It amazes me how short sighted people can be. I hope she's ok and I hope one day she appears and shocks the world with a fantastic debut album!!! If you see this Alice, you may be missing, but you are NOT forgotten!!!

@@avoice3390 As I mentioned, Alice released her debut album in early 2017 in the U.S. (late 2016 in the UK). That album is entitled 'Under the Covers'. I enjoy the album but it did receive criticism. The band largely overpowered and at times seemed discordant with Alice's special voice. Just one instrument playing in concert with Alice is better than adding drums, ore drums, synthesizers, electric guitar, etc. It is also unclear if Alice had full control of the song selection, as some seem in character, while others don't.

I loved her over of this song but to be honestly I think her official album release was disappointing as it needed more songs like this one that showcased her unique beautiful voice. I have a feeling marketing men got in the way because her talents are undeniable. Of course it is her right to sing what she wants but I hope future releases including more jazz standards where her Billie Holiday like skills can really be prominent. It is a waste to have such a talented singer deliver material that does not promote her strengths. This song though like her covers on the Talent shows is gorgeous.

This was one of Alice Fredenham's best performances it is evenident in how involved she was in what she was doing a natural true performance coming right from her sole I think a ton of inputs from every corner confused her output when she gets back her true confidence and it becomes part of her we all will benefit from her greatness.

Here I go again -- I also found a recording she did for her Kickstarter supporters in 2015, on RUclips, of, "I Only Have Eyes for You." Beautiful! Spine tingling! Once again, I hope she can (if necessary) tell the music industry to go jump, and find some way to make her singing available.

    • @gregparrott

Alice's 'I only have eyes for you' was done at Esoteric recordings. While Esoteric helped with that release, they totally botched the rest of Alice's Kickstarter campaign. I know, as I was one of 600 who participated. Alice stopped singing by the release of her album, late 2016. There are a total of 26 songs, including the auditions and ten from her album, with all but three on RUclips. There are also three interviews. I hope she's doing well, but sadly, we've long lost hearing her sing.

I was very glad to see and hear this video. I recently saw Alice Fredenham's famous performance on BGT, and wanted to see what else she had done. All I could find was her one album, from 2017, I believe -- I thought it was disappointing and noticed that most reviewers on Amazon agreed -- apparently the producers were to blame. And what a pity, considering what she is capable of, with her beautiful voice and beautiful soul. So I was really glad to hear the more recent recording on your video, in an ideal setting, with a sympathetic piano accompaniment . . . and Alice F. back in top form. Was that from an album??? Or where and how did you find it?? Please do try to find out what she is up to, and keep listeners informed. I hope she is somehow enjoying the success that her talent deserves.
