I just updated mine from Sync 3 2.0!!!! I have a 2017 ford Expedition limited, had trouble trying to make a usb from a mac computer, but finally got one through a pc, boom 🤯!!👍🏼 loving the update, and no lag in changing from apps to other stuff!! Love what I can do to it, and the map update, I think I had the one that was installed from 2017 lol, big difference.
Thank you for highlighting the changes! 3.0 is working good enough after updating from 2.2. I think I'll wait for a more substantial update given what a pain in the butt it is to update (driving around, downloading, errors etc)

I think you had gotten Climate to show up not specifically because of 3.4 by itself, but from you changing the config in FORscan before (even though it ended up not showing in 3.0). I'm glad I never updated anything while on 3.0 because none of it would have probably shown up anyway. Now that I updated to 3.4 I will make the updates I am seeking like Climate and Speed Limits in Nav. Great overview video!
I love that its centre aligned, makes its consistent for left and right hand drive models. As an Aussie I've found the navigation a little annoying to read sometimes since the directions are on the far side of the screen (left) while Im sitting on the right. Minor quality of life thing but I'd like the ability to switch sides.
followed the video and it worked perfectly on my 2018 foST. definitely recommend using a second USB, as the file for the update is large and took some time to transfer over once i did the first part. I did not get climate on mine however, not sure if its because I have not used forscan? but otherwise, really enjoy the update. thanks for sharing!
I mean so nothing really changed but colors and background options. :( damnit FORD. I mean it DOES look more modern than the outdated system. I traded my 17’ ST3 a year ago and now have an ‘18 mustang GT and i always thought the sync system was aesthetically terrible. Especially when you see what DODGE has in their cars. (My brother has a Challenger). Thanks for the video. It’s definitely worth the upgrade for the backgrounds alone. I wish my mustang had NAV. My ST3 sis and i miss it 😩😩
The best thing in this update is being able to press and hold the voice button to use your mobile phone voice control. Now I can finally open and close my garage door without having to plug in my phone and use android auto!
Nice video but I'm going to stick with 3.3 with night mode on permanently which gives a really nice dark mode with the wallpapers available. Much nicer than the blue in 3.4
I have a Ford Edge 2019. Some things I notice you did not have on 3.4 version. No rear defrost in Climate. Also no heated steering wheel on/off on the home page. Will these show up on my car if they are actual features I have?
I installed 3.4 Build 21020 today on 17 ST. Got the new 2020 maps with it as well. One thing I noticed was that the music info isn’t centered like yours. I’m not sure when that was changed. They also have an easy update program now but it’s only for windows.
Really nice walkthrough! IMO, Ford's Sync 3 was pretty good for it's time, much better than most other manufacturer's solution for infotainment systems of that same era. This 3.4 version is really nice and you can really tell they spent the time to fix the UI and UX and made it much better. BTW, i had no idea about holding down the auto button to toggle the Dual mode. lol - RTFM Do you think the test and diagnostic mode has changed or offers any new options? Maybe a sneak peak at the Mach E splash screen graphic?

Hi I seen your video and thought maybe you know the answer... I did the 4 inch screen to sync 3 and also have the digital dash cluster.. i want to update to sync 3.4 . Since my car had the 4 inch screen i cant use my vin at help.ford to get update info for my 2016 mustang.. so I went on car guro and got a vin from a 2019 mustang with same options as mine .do you think this should work ok ? My APIM is a 2018 non nav with apple car play ..the update is 5U5T-14G381-EK. Appreciate any help ...Eric
So I have downloades 3.4, but sinde this version is not offered by Ford I am just wondering if it is “legal”? I have a 2017 Ford Focus and latest update from Ford is 3.3. Seems that the 3.4 version from Cyanlab is unsupported and not licensed.
5:04 - I'm still trying to get my Sync upgraded from 3.0 to 3.4 but this is my biggest gripe with 3.0 is the preset pages. In my Chev Volt, I can just toggle left or right and it flicks though the pages if I go beyond the 5 on that page..I don't need to press on the screen to select a different page. I hope I can select/toggle with the steering wheel buttons all the way through the presets as it goes to the next page automatically.

My use of SYNC 3.0 is purely for Android Auto ('18 Focus ST2). Does 3.4 have any improved functionality there? I'm wondering if this is even worth doing.
I have what may sound like an odd question but can you hear the audio of callers when your ringtone is set to anything other than use phone ringtone. I have sync 3.0 and for some reason, my set ringtone switches from time to time and whenever it is on something other than use the phone ringtone if I receive a call the phone will answer but I cannot hear the caller and they can hear me
This would happen to me but I could never figure out why. I had noticed it happened most when connected with Android Auto. But I do have my car set to it's own ringtone and I can always hear the caller and they can hear me. But sometimes when connected with Android Auto it's weird.
@@TechnationXyz From what I understand its a software glitch in Sync. I was hoping it was fixed in the newer version. It happened all the time in my 2017 Ford Fusion, I now have a 2018 Lincoln MKX and it has not happened yet
I managed to upgrade from Sync2 to Sync 3 rocking v3.4, but i noticed the rotary volume adjustment window is no longer transparent compared to 3.0. The blue square overwhelms is the screen each time you change the volume, especially noticeable over Carplay, and it being framed square totally defeats the whole aspect of having a “rotary” dial! Whoever messed that up at Ford should be fired!
I've got a 2016 Mustang and just recently discovered the videos out there about Sync 3.4. I'm curious but cautious. I like the new look though and my understanding is it comes with updated maps for the Nav which I'm thinking my car could really use by now. I've only got one question at this point. Does the system keep your radio presets and navigation favorites when you do the update or are those things overwritten? Thanks!
Hi everyone, recently i bought Mondeo mk5 from 2017 with SYNC3. There is one thing bothers me. When listening mp3 music from USB drive, it is not possible to go up and down in folders using buttons on steering wheel. It is possible by pressing the SYNC3 touch screen. Thas fact makes me nervous since i have to press touchscreen 10 times in orded to change a folder. That also means that i lose focus on the road as i have to watch the screen instead. I tried to search for a solution on many forums, but with no luck so far. Could you please share your opinion about that? How can i make possible to go up and down in folders using steering wheel button? Before Modeo, i had Focus mk3 2011 with some poor, basic music player. That poor, basic music player allowed me to do things i cannot do on Mondeo with SYNC3... Thank you in advance.

They are of course close to being the same but there is a lot that is not. And also we all know androids suck so android auto isn’t all that great either. But apple CarPlay is AMAZING! It’s absolutely flawless with sync 3.4 ! I’ve never had issues with it. I had a 2013 mustang and I can’t remember what version. Like sync 1 or 2. I’m thinking 1 but anyways everyone complained about it not working properly. Come to find out they was using it with a stupid android. I of course had an iPhone and I swear I literally NEVER had a problem with it. It always worked for me!
Upgraded my 2017 Explorer Limited from 3.0 to 3.4 but there's no significant change in functionality -- mostly aesthetics (font and some cheesy background color potions). Some people like the new dark blue hue of the main background, but none of the background color options match well with the rest of the Explorer's baby blue gauges in the dashboard, and now the main screen looks like an aftermarket unit. I wish I could go back to 3.0....
This is an easy fix, enable testing settings by holding down fast-forward on the steering wheel and the dash. Once in testing settings, which should be a new option in settings menu, you should see an option for theme - you can easily change to a different theme that will suit your car better.
guess i am the only one who prefers the soft blue/gray of the 3.0 than the blue 3.4 ? the only thing it changes is the climate control, but whats the point (unless you can now also use voice commands to control the temp)
I have a 2019 ford fusion titanium hybrid im hoping this solves the battery draining issue its a weird problem for my fusion people at ford dealership could not figure it out nothing tests or is drawing the battery to drain, an this a tech with a ford fusion hybrid.!!!! Its fuckin nuts! 3 weeks got my car back an they at least updated my sync system to 3.4 it looks soooooo much better then 3.0 looks cleaner an more professional
I just buy a ford 2020 XLT transit and my GPS navigation isn’t working I reset the menu like 4 times and still don’t work i is frozen any idea how to make work again???
TORQUE & TECH yes I did that in the sync settings 4 times and only let me texted new address but when is time to star the navigation everything goes back to the frozen page in the left side is like a red circle it says not GPS
One bug was the Bluetooth disconnecting and reconnecting. I've had it come back only once after a master reset. Another bug is the screen flickering which I can't get rid of.
You should be good. In Testing settings the ST theme still shows and after I installed and turned the car off and back on my previous start screen returned.
Did this to my 16/17 rs uk version and it all worked HOWEVER! it now thinks its a fiesta. The auto rain sensor wont turn on. And the worst thing off all is the voice is german which means voice control will not work as i dont speak german. Also it now shows a mustang logo on start up instead if the rs and ford performance.
I have a 2019 Ford Edge ST. It auto-updated to 3.4 last night. The new blue color scheme looks nice. But, it sucks. Two issues: 1. You can't search your attached storage while driving. So to change what ripped CD I want to play, I have to be stopped. 2. Apparently, it can't handle as many songs/artists as it used to. I have a 500 gb SSD with about 1,000 CDs/10,000 songs. It used to take a couple of minutes to index, but, it would index it. Now, I can get to artists that start with the letter A or B and that's it. So, I can play Adele or the B-52's, etc. But, I'm out of luck playing Tool. Can I revert to the previous version?

I dont think thats possible. Reason #1 being that the unit in your car doesn't have as much storage as one that was built to have all the map data installed.

I’m waiting to upgrade my 4” screen 2012 Ford Edge to 8” Sync 3.0 infotainment system. My question is, can I eventually be able to upgrade to 3.4, or is my car too old to get that version.

USB Media player update will not allow you to browse music while in motion. Bad Update for the Media player. Voice command is not good enough. Bring back the old Browse.
Adding the Android Auto navigation in the display cluster alone is worth the 15 minutes it takes to do this. Most annoying thing has to be accessing heated/cooled seats. You have to click like 4 buttons to get to it now. Womp womp. Oh well. Still a great update.
@@TechnationXyz You use the steering wheel info selector. I had mine set to display what music was playing before i updated the software. I hit the left/back button on the wheel, this brought me to a menu where you can select what info you want displayed. I selected "navigation". At first it is just a compass. But if you use google maps directions in android auto, it will display turn by turn directions in the cluster as on the main sync3 display.

I really like night mode in the earlier versions with the all black background. But this does look nice thou.

My 3.4 allows night mode permanently. No wallpapers though I don't think (I'm new to it). Maybe it's a recent update?
Seems like it has 4 night mode custom options including a very dark blue not just the lighter blue.

My 2016 f150 Sync has been upgraded to a Sync 3.0 system, does that mean I can upgrade to 3.4 or is that not possible because I have a 2016 truck

you used the interface for diagnosis or after the update you also received the control for climates?
Climate controls can be activated with FORSCAN. It will only work if your vehicle have the capability.

No after a restart it went back to the original way I had it.

Not sure about the Nav. but all my presets were saved when I updated mine. 2018 Mustang. I went from 3.0 to 3.4 if that helps any.

It’s absolutely flawless with sync 3.4 ! I’ve never had issues with it. I had a 2013 mustang and I can’t remember what version. Like sync 1 or 2. I’m thinking 1 but anyways everyone complained about it not working properly. Come to find out they was using it with a stupid android. I of course had an iPhone and I swear I literally NEVER had a problem with it. It always worked for me!
I have a 2020 fusion. Is there a way to upload a pic to the screen like I did in my 2014 Taurus?

Upgraded my 2017 Explorer Limited from 3.0 to 3.4 but there's no significant change in functionality -- mostly aesthetics (font and some cheesy background color potions). Some people like the new dark blue hue of the main background, but none of the background color options match well with the rest of the Explorer's baby blue gauges in the dashboard, and now the main screen looks like an aftermarket unit. I wish I could go back to 3.0....
This is an easy fix, enable testing settings by holding down fast-forward on the steering wheel and the dash. Once in testing settings, which should be a new option in settings menu, you should see an option for theme - you can easily change to a different theme that will suit your car better.
I assume this update includes updated maps to include new streets ?
No u have to update maps separately from my understanding.
guess i am the only one who prefers the soft blue/gray of the 3.0 than the blue 3.4 ?
the only thing it changes is the climate control, but whats the point (unless you can now also use voice commands to control the temp)
I have a 2019 ford fusion titanium hybrid im hoping this solves the battery draining issue its a weird problem for my fusion people at ford dealership could not figure it out nothing tests or is drawing the battery to drain, an this a tech with a ford fusion hybrid.!!!! Its fuckin nuts! 3 weeks got my car back an they at least updated my sync system to 3.4 it looks soooooo much better then 3.0 looks cleaner an more professional

Try and master reset in the Sync settings to see if that helps.
I just buy a ford 2020 XLT transit and my GPS navigation isn’t working I reset the menu like 4 times and still don’t work i is frozen any idea how to make work again???
When you say reset you mean the master reset in the Sync settings?
TORQUE & TECH yes I did that in the sync settings 4 times and only let me texted new address but when is time to star the navigation everything goes back to the frozen page in the left side is like a red circle it says not GPS

One bug was the Bluetooth disconnecting and reconnecting. I've had it come back only once after a master reset. Another bug is the screen flickering which I can't get rid of.

What about start up screen with st. And I have climate on my 2018 slocus st. So hmm
You should be good. In Testing settings the ST theme still shows and after I installed and turned the car off and back on my previous start screen returned.

Did this to my 16/17 rs uk version and it all worked HOWEVER! it now thinks its a fiesta. The auto rain sensor wont turn on. And the worst thing off all is the voice is german which means voice control will not work as i dont speak german. Also it now shows a mustang logo on start up instead if the rs and ford performance.
Have you tried a master reset? This could help.

I have a 2019 Ford Edge ST. It auto-updated to 3.4 last night. The new blue color scheme looks nice. But, it sucks. Two issues:
1. You can't search your attached storage while driving. So to change what ripped CD I want to play, I have to be stopped.
2. Apparently, it can't handle as many songs/artists as it used to. I have a 500 gb SSD with about 1,000 CDs/10,000 songs. It used to take a couple of minutes to index, but, it would index it. Now, I can get to artists that start with the letter A or B and that's it. So, I can play Adele or the B-52's, etc. But, I'm out of luck playing Tool.
Can I revert to the previous version?

I dont think thats possible. Reason #1 being that the unit in your car doesn't have as much storage as one that was built to have all the map data installed.

Huh? To turn on dual climate just change the temperature on the passenger side. To turn dual off that you need to press and hold auto.
How did you get the RS theme to stay??
You have to use Forscan to do it. I have some videos on using forscan to theme. If you search Lincoln theme on my channel you'll find it.

USB Media player update will not allow you to browse music while in motion. Bad Update for the Media player. Voice command is not good enough. Bring back the old Browse.

How android auto?
It's working great. Admittedly I've only used it a few times so I can use the sync system more for 3.4 and this video.
Adding the Android Auto navigation in the display cluster alone is worth the 15 minutes it takes to do this. Most annoying thing has to be accessing heated/cooled seats. You have to click like 4 buttons to get to it now. Womp womp. Oh well. Still a great update.
I've seen this all over and I don't have the nav in the gauge cluster sadly. What vehicle do you have?

@@TechnationXyz You use the steering wheel info selector. I had mine set to display what music was playing before i updated the software. I hit the left/back button on the wheel, this brought me to a menu where you can select what info you want displayed. I selected "navigation". At first it is just a compass. But if you use google maps directions in android auto, it will display turn by turn directions in the cluster as on the main sync3 display.
