How about sampling some klezmer music? What's fun about klezmer music is that if you switch up the instrumentation it sounds like surf rock. And if you switch it up again, it sounds like music from a spaghetti western. People get mad about sampling, and that's just silly, because all music is sampling of something else. Originality is just people good at hiding their influences.
