    I walk 30 minutes to work every day. I was struggling for the first 2 months. Now i feel much better. I walk early in the morning, before the car pollution starts and love fresh air. Wouldn't change this for the world.

      Yep, ascents are even better because you're doing extra work against gravity. That's partly why many gym treadmills can be inclined (but personally i'd rather be outside too).

    • @EbonySaints
      @EbonySaints 2 месяца назад

      That's fair, though maybe you can try to bump it up to 7k for a week, if at all possible. Maybe walk to the convenience store instead of driving if it's close by, especially on a day you are not working. It's an easy way to get a bit more walking in and it has a (probably unhealthy, but you earned it) reward at the end.😊

    Our hunter-gatherer ancestors averaged 18,000 steps. This number is based on studies of the few remaining ones left.
    Homo sapiens have evolved to be constantly active throughout the day, which is why desk jobs, driving, etc, are so bad for you. They did studies on bus drivers and bus ticket inspectors in the 60s/70s. They found bus drivers were far more likely to have a heart attack.

    • @harrywood702

      They lived with and studied them. There's still a few hunter-gatherer tribes left. I think it was The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter that I read about this study. It could also have been The Hunter Gatherers Guide to the 21st century, though. I've listened to quite a few books on audible.

      -Get better shoes (seriously)
      -Make it fun by going on walks other neighborhoods, go discover stuff, go see the fancy houses, go downtown, get lost. Tourists always easily break 10k steps aha
      -Find podcasts (or new music) to listen to on your walks, you'd be surprised how their release schedule will make you WANT to go walk/have an excuse to take time to listen when a new one comes out.
      -It takes weeks to see and feel changes, trust the process and go every. single. day.
      -Don't jaywalk, it lessens the odds of a dumb moment ruining your life.
