Keep the subject to be inspected stable on table and use the focus ring to focus! You don't need to move the subject as holding it in hand can make your life very difficult - especially in the micro world.

If one where to drop this on a concrete ground, how much damage would it take..how durable is it?
Good question. Even tho it's plastic, it feels very durable and I bet would survive a drop on concrete from waist height easily.... maybe even shoulder height. All the lenses are well within its' case too.
Next time tap you're screen where you want it to focus.......... It would have been SO much faster if you just did that
