Hi, it took almost 3 years. She was super motivated from the beginning to be like her older sister who also plays the cello and had the benefit of a cello teacher in the family. Unusual situations. I started at 13 1/2 with no advantage. I know a cellist who began at 16 and went on to win gold at the Tchaikovsky Competition 20 years later so one never knows. Wish you all the best!
i still can't comprehend that this 5 year old prodigy can remember Rondo better than me, plus I'm going to play this tomorrow for a recital
