I'm a 74 year old Aussie, and only discovered this beautiful lady a couple of years ago. I've been involved in music for a lot of my life, but sadly was unaware of her talent, voice, and ability to " feel " the lyrics.😢
I live in San Diego, California❤❤❤❤❤❤, and was incredibly fortunate to hear Kate live several times at La Paloma (the dove). It was a joy to experience!
The one and only Kate Wolf. She was special--such a wonderful singer. She gave her entire soul to her music. I just love this cover of the the Eagles' song. We all miss you, my friend but your music and your legacy to American country, folk and roots music will live forever.
Indeed Alan. I am new to Kate. Her smile captured my attention, her music, my soul. I'm 78, headed for infinity, so now I like, slow and easy. I probably always did, I just never took the time. Now I am.
Paul, never too late to find Kate. Her music is a treasure that we can carry with us our whole life, something no one can ever take away. One of the gifts of humanity, that can shepherd us through all that we face. Peace.
Cheers Paul / I have been a fan of woman singer/song writers for a long time. Kate ranks in the top 5 easy. My favorite still remains Joni Mitchell but Kate is gaining ground the more I listen to her.
I was in my seventies. I lost so much for such a long time. I guess that I found her by watching AJ Lee videos of her doing Kate’s song. AJ is a good disciple.
The same way I did, there was so much good music coming out in the 60/70 time period and then we had families. We put the new ventures on hold and listened to Raffi with our kids, or Bill Wellington driving down the road. Its was a great trip but here we are, backtracking in the snow of time to find some that were inadvertently cast on the wayside. I love this woman's music and hate I did not study it earlier with my kids.
I was lucky enough to "discover" her in Dec. 1981, less than a week before my 34th b'day, when I was cruising a car radio dial and landed on Dick Cerri's weekly Sat. night folk music show (DC area). As I tuned in, he played her song, "The Trumpet Vine," and I was instantly transported by those lyrics back to the folk scene of the late '60's, when I was in college, and just learning the guitar. On that December night, I was just out of the hospital with a broken bone injury, and I sorely needed just the sort of comfort that her voice radiates. I think that song and "Green Eyes" are my two favorites of hers, with half a dozen or more others close behind in the running. I was so very sad to hear of her passing a few years later, again from Dick Cerri on the radio. Fred
Thank goodness for RUclips. If not for RUclips I would never have heard of this lady. She had such a talent. On one hand I want to know why I never heard her on the radio singing her music,on the other hand, knowing the music industry and people in general,I know why.People have no idea what we have lost.
Kate had a voice and a message that our times our sorely in need of. So far removed is our world from her mystical connection of nature and humanity. Hold her memory dear.
All that I love are all gone and God bless you Kate you are with them, sweet angel giving us the light to push past the darkest hours for just one more day with your voice and words. I wish it didn't take the 40 years plus to find you. They say, if we say your name, you will live forever......Kate......
Recently added several of Kate's albums to my vinyl collection after listening to "across the great divide" They are now in my favourite listening cupboard

When ever I come across a young lady who is into poetry and song writing, I always tell her to listen to Kate Wolf for inspiration, and what a song should be. She was one of the best, brightest, and beautiful.
beautifully relaxing version by a wonderful warm and talented performer.. im so glad i can call on her music and dip into her songs when i need comfort .. she is like a good friend now.. she is sadly missed
After a sort of rough and frustrating day I found this beautiful version of this great song , sung so lovely by the delightful Kate Wolf . Thanks for this, Kate . I'm sleepy now , feeling so much better just listening to your pleasing voice. I'll see you in my dreams . . . so sad I never got to see you live or meet you . But I can listen to you . . . whenever I want . RIP , Lovely Lady . George Lewis, Sr
I'm usually repulsed by most covers, however, this is Kate Wolf. What was I thinking, of course it will be good. The tempo allows the intimacy of this great song and her voice to meld rather beautifully.
KATE WOLF HAD A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY AND A HISTORY OF GREAT TEACHINGS FROM ALL AND GREAT HEART AND WISDOM OF SO VERY MANY, THE VOICE WAS FROM SOME VERY HIGH PLACE AND VISION WAY ABOVE
Only wish i had known more about Kate and her music long before I did. I saw her once in a little bar in Portland, Oregon. Just found all these wonderful sites dedicated to Kate her life and music. Gone too soon. Still she gave the world such wonderful music.
beautiful melodies are more obvious at this pace, and kate,s voice is sublime. for those of you who find it too slow( and its a good point} maybe after a long day . a tumbler of good scotch whisky and just let the sun go down. try it. R.I.P. kate.
know that place well my friend , after kicking my boots off and resting the weary body, that glass of a good single malt whiskey in hand , she sings this perfectly for me as i watch the sun set into the ocean
If you hear The Eagles you are riding a Harley Davidson on a very long straight road, if you hear Kate you are riding a dream and you don't know why you cry. But ... who care, tears make you fill better ... after. So I don't choose, I take both of them.
Ja, eine echt toll gefühlvoll vortragende Musikerin, die weit und tief ihre Stimmung fließen lassen kann... Heranreichend an eigene tiefe Gefühle.
Very fortunate at age 64 to have "discovered" Kate. She's right up there with all the other greats; Baez, Mitchell, Collins et. al. BTW: Also just "discovered" Sandy Denny who succumbed at age 31. The last song she performed in public was "Who Knows Where the Time Goes." A great soulful song. You'll find a great rendition on "Like an Old Fashioned Waltz."

If you ever want to be happy, just take a hike and listen to some Kate Wolf. Best kept secret in the world.
I have Green Eyes in my head all the time, going across Golden Valley in Malvern with a small Westie, I hear Kate Wolf in my head, and it's wonderful!
