    Great video! I'm an English teacher preparing students to take Cambridge Exams. One of the key challenges of the C1 Advanced exam is the time pressure you may feel during the different sections of the exam. To overcome this challenge, it's important to practice time management skills during your exam preparation. One way to do this is to simulate exam conditions as closely as possible during your practice sessions. Set yourself a time limit for each task and try to stick to it strictly. This will help you get used to working under pressure and make it easier for you to manage your time during the actual exam. If you found this helpful, I have more resources on my channel that you might be interested in checking out! Good luck!

    I find the exercices on the video very worthwhile, not to improve in English, but to practice attentive listening. I usually do not pay attention to what is being said so this is extremely helpful. Thanks

  • @karlturner9038
    @karlturner9038 5 лет назад +16

    No matter whether is this vid for Advanced level or not it's useful for training your listening skills anyway. In first minutes of listening you seemingly understand completely nothig, but then little by little you get used to it and understand with ease. The point is to get used to the speach and its pace in particular. This thing can discourage you and scare your desire for practicing away :D but it must not stop you.

    This advanced level exercise is clearly missing all of the usually distorting background noise.

    • @jonas6246
      @jonas6246 3 года назад +4

      I absolutely don't think that is advanced...its clear,no background noises,they dont have any accent,its quite easy language and also you are being introduced to it very well...so this is still for beginners i would say

    • @AlphaHorst
      @AlphaHorst 2 года назад

      @@jonas6246 not really. Background noise and heavy accents are not really a part of the common tests, as these circumstances make it artifically harder, so even natives can struggle with that.
      This is meant to be advanced listening comprehension not advanced level english (so not C2 but rather B1 or B2). Unfortunatley most texbooks and teaching institutions feel the need to call something "advanced", even if it is not by the common evaluation standards. That is because they skip the "intermediate" level. In A,B and C level you go from Begginer to Intermediate to Advanced. In learning you go from Beginner to Advanced to Expert. So if you want to learn C 1 or 2 level listening comprehension (which is not that much harder because it is not a big part of C1 and C2 level) you will have to search for "expert" or "C level" tests. These will however mainly focus on speaking rather than listening.
      A levels are about getting the basics of english.
      B level about understanding what is being said and giving answers
      C level is about being able to comprehend what was said, especially when confronted with new vocabulary, and giving a detailed asnwere using "advanced" and "variet" english.
      C2 is just the end game, where it is expected that your mastery of english is on par with a native speaker and even accent and or dialect start to fade.
      This ofcourse is just about listenting and a bit of speaking and leaves out much of grammar, vocabulary and such things.

      yeah. In Germany we get a interview of an indian in an underground station, and then get asked, what the announcement of port 7said, why the guys parents didnt come with him, where his son Amar graduated, and at what university his son Amal studied.
      Also we might get asked in how many minutes the next train to new Hampshire will come, and on which port it will arrive.

    I am 💯 sure that exercise about gym membership was wrong. The answer should have been the right picture one with both pool and facilities from 18:00 to 23:00. The man clearly says that he won’t be able to get up that early at weekends than why would he choose the one which is from 6 am to 11pm. Makes no sense.

Now that you listenning is great , you have to concentrate on speaking. Once you master the speaking you will be able to wirte, because the way you speak is the way you write.

      I see your point, I've always struggled with listening in any language I've learned. Now I consider myself quite good at it, the thing which helped me more is watching movies and TV series in English. You can start with subtitles. At the beginning you'll struggle but slowly you will get used to it. I've started with Grey's Anatomy, now I've seen 9 seasons and I'm watching Outlander which is even more difficult because the main character is British but his partner is a Scot and believe me, it's not that easy 😂

    This is a B2 listening I'd say. No advanced vocab included, mayyybe speed is ok, but they sound so clear. Topics are also easy. Nevertheless, I find it usual. It's a good warm up tho.

    There's a mistake in the subtitles 11:54 "when I had my laptop" instead of when I "HAVE" my laptop. I love your videos but I was confuse with this until I listened carefully. Thanks for your work. I know it's not an easy task.

    I thought the answer of the question 2 would be "18:00-23:00". Why did he choose "6:00-23:00" while he couldn't get up early? can anyone explain this to me, pls?

      Minh Tu Phan he said he wants to use the gym in the early morning during the week but can't wake up early on the weekends to use the pool. Since he uses the pool later in the day but needs to use the gym early in the morning during the week he picked the membership that lets him use the gym and the pool from the morning till the night. Hope this helps.

    I can handle this test, the problem isnt the speed.
    The problem is that every man in this world has a different pronunciation of those words.. if all the people pronounced like her i could definitely understand english everytime
