It's really tough right now. I'm 63 and I have been job hunting for several months. I live in a small town. There are loads of people applying for every job. Thanks for the pep talk.
I can't believe I am here (60+ club). I'm trying to figure out where did the time go? I never really achieved all my career dreams. So, I am ashamed to say that I suffer from regret and sadness over this. Have broken dreams. I tried. Life just didn't work out like planned because life happened. I am not in a bad place in life even despite things working against me and now having a lot of health issues. Just feel that I did not live up to my potential. But, I kept chirping along. I had fairly decent money management skills despite not having a high income when I worked. Was able to leave the workforce early in life. Just trying to cope with dealing with the disappointments of not totally fulfilling my dreams.
Please don't stay in regret. Opportunities abound for moving into some form of dream life. Time does pass, but don't let the naysayers get in your head.
@ Mr.Mrs.Smith. right there too with time ( where did it go) money is scarce. I quit my job over unhealthy, hostile environment. Yes,dreams never happened. The only thing I've done right was bring beautiful children to this earth. Unfortunately life happens and relationships broken. Trying to find a job suited for me at 60. No formal education. I've yet to file unemployment. I would rather work because money is running out.
Joan, yes, there are so many ways they can know our age so discrimination here in the US truly exists. While i know people can graduate from college at any age, by the time you put down all your experience and our social media search or even background checks tells exactly your age. Most companies I've applied for in the application in the little writing you sign they can do background checks including credit, social media, etc. That tells all.
Joan Polakoff...isn't that sad? Or the farce that your previous employer can't say anything negative about you, but they CAN say if they would rehire? I was "laid off" (gotten rid of) from my major job, in 2005, so they could hire a babe! The company got paid back, they didn't value me & didn't realize my talent, so they thought anyone could do my job! I did accounting, she only had a clerks knowledge! She got them, big time, in trouble with the IRS because she did not know what she was doing! The next young woman they hired embezzled money from them! I did a good job, worked there for ten years & they didn't think twice about "getting rid" of me! I told my boss I would stay and do year end that year, something I knew my replacement could not do, and a difficult job for anyone to walk in and do (even experienced). The last day I stayed my boss asked me "aren't you about through?" I had been working HARD for 3 weeks, every day in misery. I worked to the end of that day & never came back! Never said a word to them about be finished (I wasn't), I just left! Sadly, I am NOT someone with a personality plus, I don't think I have an ounce of charisma & on top of all that, I don't/didn't have confidence! I was so honest with them. Never missed a day except when I was in a major auto accident...then I worked free for them for over a month, hurt so bad, but I knew my responsibility. I could have double dipped, because my insurance was paying my wages, but I didn't.
I used to do accounting to make my living...now I am 76 & I just got a job making deserts at an assisted living home! I love it! It earns me an extra $600.00 a month for only a few hours a week, gets me out of the house among great people & gives me a little extra a month for things I need & want! I love it!!!!! The place I work is a special place & the people I work with are wonderful people!!! hugs, Judie
Yes, there is nothing you can't find on the internet! We are all so informed now days. Yes, they do have some recipes that are, or at least smell, wonderful! But the best & most wonderful videos I find are right here on 60 and me, because so many (such as yourself) people reach out with the kindest of heart & wonder, kind, gentle replies answer a comment made, such as mine. Thank you again for your kindness! hugs to you, Judie
I wish I could work there with you! My nursing home I worked at for 12+ years was sold to a private company and lost most of their employees doing so. I would love to be with the elderly again making deserts! I just loved the residents where I worked and really miss them! I am learning as I look for work that my own age of 60 is making it difficult.
Yea. I'm 60 and have been unemployed for 18 months. Either the SSA needs to move the early retirement age to 55 and/or make being unemployed more than 6 months if you're 55 or older a disability. Because that's what age is now. If you CAN work but are being discriminated against because you are older, those who discriminate against older prospective workers are breaking a law that is unenforceable which makes it a useless law so older workers are disabled as a result.
Good for you Fran! You know I first majored in music/piano while I also loved science and I made a fork in the road decision to change my major to nursing. I think you have the perfect balance, creative side and analyical side. Take care.
Fran Comiskey....yes, I wouldn't stop either, unless you have a retired husband to spend time with. If you do, it is very wise to spend time with him, so many men seem to pass away shortly after retirement.
gingerlori52....Oh, that IS a wonderful, part time employment. It is bound to be such an interesting job! Thank you for submitting your comment, it may open employment job ideas to someone! Enjoy that job!
Here in the US there's a program through AARP where people can get paid training through non profits while the program helps them find jobs. I work with the seniors who go through this program and they enjoy it quite a lot and have gone on to good jobs with their help.
In the US, I know Goodwill stores mission is to make jobs for people and while the pay is not big, they really do help especially over 55 yrs old. This is in the US
That particular program has a long waiting list, I'm on it. When I called them 3 months ago I was told the wait is roughly 1-2 yrs to be called. I live in Los Angeles, Ca. They were kind enough to give me a local referral to another program, which I'm currently with, and added my name to their list. So glad to hear your feedback about aarp's program. And very grateful I stumbled on this channel. Will definitely be subscribing and checking out the resources mentioned in the end. I'm 61 years old and highly motivated, sooner or later, someone's going to hire me...👍
Im girija 57 years l like to spend some time with public n help the need and the same time l need earn my daily food to .what business you can advise me
Yeah............I can't lift 50 lbs. I'm only 102 lbs. myself. And I have a neurodegenerative disorder. And I'm 65. I'm actually having to do move out housecleaning for a landlord in the area. That's hard enough.
I'm 57 and find work as a temporary employee. Once they realize I show up and do good work, I usually get extended for as long as they can manage to keep me. It also keeps my computer skills fresh.
Katie I'm sure they are so thankful for you and your dedication. My husband is a manager at a store and he tells me of so many things I can't believe the 20-30 year olds do and are not really reliable. I think our age has a more positive work ethic, but that is just my observation.
Katie...I am surprised to see your young age beginning to experience difficulty! My daughter is your age! GOSH!!!! This is a good tip you give (get your foot in the door & they will see). Don't let life put in the older category, you are still so young!
Katie...also, I compliment you on being able to adjust to a "new job" so much! I had a lot of trouble adjusting to the temporary part of the jobs. Even though I was held as long as they could also, when the job was over. I moved on to more permanent employment. I always left a job after 4.5 years because I had learned everything I could & moved on to more challenges! Except the last job before retirement...I stayed 10 years! Maybe it just took me longer to "settle in" to a job? Good idea!
Thank you Margaret, I just searched jobs for people over 60. I am a medical coder with health issues of dizziness which is worsened on a computer. I’m on a computer 8 hours a day. 2 doctors said to get off the computer. I also don’t like the healthcare ins they have and am going to look for another job come the end of Sept. So thanks for steering me in the right direction. I’m hoping to find something not so burdening as medical coding. I’m overworked and never caught up which also creates anxiety.
I am still working but often think of getting a less stressful job that I would enjoy more. I am think the ageism issue is very much alive. When you worked for 50 yrs or more in some cases; and you have coworkers in their 30's trying to tell you how to do your job; or questioning your intellegience. I find that so disrespectful. It amazes me. I am 60 and will work at least until 66 unless I win the lottery or something; but I often wonder what else is out there that I could bring my qualifications to help another company. Just my thoughts! I'm glad on the downhill slide of the weekly grind; but I know I will try to do something part time even when I retire. Just my thoughts. Thanks Margaret!!
Yep...I am 60; been an RN for 35 years, applied for 60 jobs and get the same response, "Thank You for applying, but we have decided to choose another candidate". I am healthy, not on medications and it is surprising because I am healthier that some people in their 40s and 50's!!!
First I absolutely love your look! I turned 60 this year and put together part time teaching with online tutoring and earned more my first year than when I had a full time staff job. Actually finding a full time job has not happened but working for myself has been great!
If you have experience in a certain field you can but if you were a stay home mother who supported your husband’s business but no longer run a business it is very hard to find a job .
Love your channel … I have done a patisserie course ,at sixty …after being a stay at home for 30 years …to ask for a job now is not easy , but I have beat 20; year olds at the course …I have broken the glass ceiling ..beaten all the odds ..nothing beats spirit n experience …I need to do it to beat my demons
Hi, I think I have mentioned before that I am a school crossing guard supervisor. I am 70, I have been doing this almost 3 years now. Most of the crossing guards are retired people. We work 4 hours a day. It works out great that you have that extra money & not working too many hours.
Thank you so much Margaret for Sixtyandme. You are such a light in the world and always beam sunshine and love into my day! I love the range of subjects covered and your wonderfully positive take on things. After many years working in NHS UK as a therapist I left due to cutbacks and target driven ethos. I work part time privately and love having the time to help people improve their quality of life. I'm 64 now but hope I may continue work at my own pace for many more years. It isn't really work anyway as I love it just as you obviously love what you do! Continue to shine and the community likewise.
Thank you so much Louise for your support and very kind words! Be sure to also check out our website - we have lots of great information there at www.sixtyandme.com/start :-)
Thank you for sharing your successful work transition. What kind of therapist are you and how did you make the transition to private work? I am asking because I also need to do this for the same type of reasons, but in Australia. I am a hospital physiotherapist.
Michigan is looking for undercover buyers at the new marijuana stores, supposedly, applied for that job too. Don't know if it was just another faux, because every time I apply, it turns out to be Uber! lol My son has done extremely well and wants to make my life easier. He wants me to do his laundry for $200. @ month. Yes, this a gift and I must go beyond my pride/image. He doesn't want to even see his laundry, while I love doing it. So I am jumping in! I will be wearing my makeup to the laundry mat, and smiling!
I know this is an old post but you crack me up and I'm very impressed you set your pride aside to do his laundry. I don't know if I could have done that. Plus -sounds like your grown son is actually in a normal 'speaking' relationship w/you...kudos lol
I have been struggling with prestige. I want something easier and less demanding, but everyone around me has been so proud of me ( mostly my kids). I'm over qualified for most jobs, but I don't care. I just want to work part time and simplify my life. I'm starting new and it's almost paralyzing. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. 🌷
Bettyann Cornwall...happened to me too, they hired a babe. She didn't know accounting & got them in trouble with the IRS. The next girl embezzled money! Where oh where do they think the up & coming generation is going to work until they are 70? IF there is any Social Security left. The number of young people living off S.S. for false reasons is pathetic, & there are doctors helping them get away with it! Our beautiful USA is going to be nothing but a third world country! Women that had a husband that earned a good living so they are set financially for their lives don't help! They volunteer for all these jobs because they are bored with nothing to do. They take jobs that Senior Women could be getting paid to do, to earn badly needed money, to survive. It is hard to find anything made in the USA. Everything is from China or Bengladesh! I am going to start buying everything I can "made in the USA" & do without what I can't find made here! Isn't this channel wonderful & encouraging to us women? I find it so inspiring.
Hi dear Margaret, Off topic again but I have to comment on your perfect lip color. This is an incredibly on time and appropriate topic. Thank you for the ideas as I am going to work again. Don't know where or how but you have given me some great ideas like the bookstore. I have always picked up books before anything else. HMMMM
I would not recommend starting a business after 50 - 80% of new businesses fail after 5 years - Plus it is hard working your buns off and not getting paid. If you plan to go into business anyway, consider a home business and start the business as a hobby, while you till have a regular job. It takes time to grow a business to make enough profit you can live off - Best of Luck.
Timothy: All you say is very true. I think the main issue the video is addressing with the "start your own business" suggestion, is that dead-end, discouraging, draining, demeaning and often futile job search after 60. It can leave one feeling completely worthless and defeated. Starting your own business is tough, but sometimes it's the only thing left. And at least it gives one hope and renews one's sense of self-respect, confidence and energy that this Ageist culture has destroyed. Many are not fortunate enough to do this while still having their regular, full-time job. They've already gotten kicked to the curb. Having a part-time job while trying to monetize a hobby is a good option, but even PT jobs can be hard to find as an older worker. Any way you look at it, ageism is an ugly wave that has swept over the U.S., Britain and beyond. Our American culture is probably the worst. Do not give up, my brave over-65 fellow warriors! Fight on in every way you can!
Today is 6/21/2023 and I am 63 years old. I cannot 'retire' now and collect my SS because I need benefits. The job I currently have is STRESSFUL beyond belief. I've been working here for 6 years. During that time, we were bought and sold 4 times. This last company that bought us is, without a doubt, the worse employer I've ever had the misfortune of working for/with. I was taken out of my original department and put into Accounting...without talking to me or seeing if I'd be a good fit. I am not. I'm struggling with not understanding and being pushed by deadlines. I've been looking but there's not much out there. I need good benefits and a good 401k employee program. I had a very promising interview last week and haven't heard back. I thought it went well but 'who knows'. I've sent a follow-up thank you email and, just this morning, sent the recruiter an email asking if there have been any updates. **Crickets** It's very frustrating. My worry is people will google my name and see that I'm 63 yo and put me aside even though I have an incredible amount of experience and work ethic. Thank you for this. I'll listen again and jot down some tips.
I LOVE working, I'm 66. But my retail replen job for a corporation is brutal. Not in the work so much as the pressure and corporate mentality of us never doing enough, not reaching goals, no wage increase. And by US I mean ages 18 to 68. None of us like the vibe. So I'm taking my time to get out of that mentality and not jump back into another corporate job. Colorado, USA>
I'm in the same place and situation. Just quit my high pressured, underpaid, undervalued, demeaning, toxic workplace, where nothing I do is ever enough, and I am micromanaged and watched all day long.
Here in the province of Québec (Canada) , the population is aging. Yet there is a problem with age discrimination in the workplace. I keep seeing government ads saying there is a shortage in the workforce. Solution : hire more older folks , duh!!!
Love the name of your channel, Sixty and Me, makes it sound so appealing. I'm not there yet (60) but seeing people like you online putting out amazing content like this is almost making me look forward to it lol! Yes, you have to take matters into your own hands here and cuddos to you for doing this and for this video!
Hi, When I was 35, I employed a 72 year old woman that had more spunk and energy than even myself. She was part time but we decided to offer her a full time job. She declined though thrilled that her age never mattered. It was a major Wall Street brokerage firm and we had no issues with ageism, at least not then. Now I am 64 and terrified that I a may be treated as a aged person. I work full time and plan to for as long as possible. I may not need to work; but, what else would you do with your time and mind? No grandkids yet so I'd rather continue building but what I now do has become somewhat of a bore. I want a brand new career. That's what I'd like to do, something new. I've no natural skill set other than being an incredible organizer. Any ideas? Thanks,
Hi Margret, I'm glad I found sixty and me:) You always have very helpful tips for life and interesting material! I hope you are getting better sleep, and that you are happy and healthy also! Have a wonderful day and know you are making a difference in our world:)
Very well explained Ma'm. I just found this video today when I was going through jobs for retired people. I have retired one year back. I am truly impressed by you Ma'm and I believe that we should keep working and not sit idle after retirement as work keeps us mentally and physically fit. Thanks. With love and good wishes from New Delhi, India.
Dont be afraid of technology...start simple and do what you can do..... My grandaughter(im 62) and i work w my learning style.... I write the steps/how tos down.... Step 1 Step 2 Step 3..etc. etc. Etc.
Hi Margaret I'm new to your channel..I'm 61 and recently lost my job and now out there looking again. Appreciate the websites you mentioned in this video and will definately check them out...thanks again!
Thanks Audrey and welcome! If you'd like to learn more about Sixty and Me you can go to www.sixtyandme.com/start to explore all our channels! Happy you found us!
I’m in a position to fully retire from my 32 year long career in Education. My pension/social security & savings affords me my two luxuries in life: a two-week vacation each summer (in the USA where I live) and purchasing birthday & Christmas gifts for my four grown children; three in law children; & nine grandchildren. Those two “spending areas” were “planned for” BEFORE retiring. There’s a budget of course but it’s do-able & it brings me joy❤️
I will be 60 in a couple of years and I have managed to get this far without any IT or medical skills or certifications - the only jobs in my market tend to be in these 2 areas. I was laid off in 2013 and suffered 2 years until I found a contractor gig. After that contract, I went another 2 years searching for full time work. I thought about trying to get a PMP to go with my old MBA because no one respects MBA anymore. I just dont think I would get a far shot at anything even if I had PMP at my age and I didnt have the money for it being laid off with no health insurance. I cant find anything aside from entry level sales jobs (I have over 30 years of sales experience in various industries) and most of those reject me. I feel worthless on the job market now. I have done project management, marketing, and business development with Fortune 500 corporations, the federal government and a major nonprofit. I was a US Army officer. NO ONE gives a damn and I get no consideration. I have given up hope and thinking of how I can make it to retirement age (assuming I have something left after Bidenomics)..
I find studying at Uni, younger students don't want to collaborate with an older fellow student. Ageism is prevalent amongst a cohort that should have a greater awareness.
Excellent presentation! You brought up the exact words used in the US against seniors. More videos on actually helping seniors find work, which creates self worth would be helpful. Thanks! Love your own business!
Hi Beth - its a poster of a painting by Scott Naismith - a Scottish artist I absolutely love! His paintings are quite expensive but if you like his style, he put together a 2022 calendar which is very affordable. I have it ready to hang on January 1st :-)
Wonderful video, thank you. Very strengthening and inspiring for those of us facing all these Ageist challenges. Could you please provide the name of the Facebook group, or a link, founded by Ashton Applewhite that you mentioned in your video at [8:53]? I need all the sources of support I can get. Over 65 and out of work, after being driven out of a horribly toxic, ageist workplace, by an abusive narcissistic owner and her partner. Demeaned, disrespected and devalued at every turn. I am without income now and low on hope, but I will not stop fighting. You and all you do are so appreciated!
Oh please travel to the USA and be my guest. You have inspired me in so many ways. One crazy way is to wear necklaces again. Lol I started noticing them on other women since I found your channel , and noticed that my chest wrinkles seam to disappear when there is a necklace to look at 😘
Hi Margaret, thanks so much for all the positive encouragement you provide to mature adults! I'm almost 60, most of my family have passed, and my kids are scattered all across the US (and not likely to stay where they are now). Also, I am single. This combined with safety issues in the US are causing me to consider retirement outside of the US, maybe to Europe or Australia. Unfortunately, I do not (yet) speak any other language. I am healthy and will have some savings and social security when I retire and will either start a small business or work part-time. Can you recommend any advice for retiring overseas?
Love your question! I often dream along those same lines and wonder, could it be possible? Retirees (pensioners) are treated so much better in the UK than in the US. Britain seems to be much more humane and kind in this regard. And I agree, safety is a big concern of mine also. Older women who live alone are particularly vulnerable to assault and abuse, and are often targeted by sick individuals of every sort. Is it difficult to be accepted in a country such as the UK and to be able to work there as a retiree? I have no knowledge of immigration laws.
I am 60 and was laid off because of great job as telephonic Nurse was closed...now after 60, yes 60 no's. As a Registered Nurse with experience I feel I have been kicked in the face. Young People...remember this, we are just numbers; just think about how many children you will have cause this sh.... is hard...
I wouldn't want to work to that age. If I had to I wouldn't want to carry on anymore. However, pension age in the UK is another seven years and maybe more. Also our disgraceful government is taking so much from pensioners so by the time I retire, if ever at this rate, there will not be much to retire on.
Just lost my job after 23 year. Honestly, not sure if I even want to go on anymore. Raised two wonderful children, so pretty much my purpose in life is complete.
I hope things have been improving for you. I feel very much the same way. However, I tend to make the best of the hand I've been dealt, and keep trying to move forward by improving my skills and connecting with interesting people. If you stay open, I think you will find you still have a purpose and have a lot to give to others. It's easy in today's culture to become isolated, but it's also easy to find like-minded people and stay as active as you want. Paraphrasing the story of the "good wolf" and "bad wolf" inside every person, the wolf that wins is the one you feed the most. Best of luck to you!
Does anyone know if the Americans with Disability Act can help older adults with the "being able to lift 50 pounds" requirement at some jobs? I realize in many jobs it's an actual requirement to do the work, but I doubt anyone with physical limitations is interested in applying for manual labor jobs. I suspect it might be just a way to keep older people from applying for many jobs that only involve sitting at a desk and/or talking on a phone.
I have been living the same nightmare for the last few years at 58. I am burned out now. I am tired of not being respected or valued in the job market. I wish I could just retire at this point. I cant find a way out.
I am 60 but no pension for another seven years. Currently working for civil service but can't stand it anymore. Have had to reduce my hours due to spinal issues, typing on a computer all day which is causing me pain due to repetitive strain. Impacting finance hugely. Loads of experience but only one job interview in months. Any idea would be great.
I think your best bet is trying to find remote jobs that don’t require you to leave your home. If you have specific skills, I’m sure you can find something to do in the world of consultancy
I’m turning 60 this year and I have 2 young children 13 years old. So I will be working for at least 10 more years. I am a software developer at medical company where I’ve been for 27 years. Would like to change jobs but afraid of ageism and frankly don’t want to work so hard. Would do consulting but need medical benefits. I am up on latest technology(cloud computing, software languages etc..). Might hire a career coach to screen possible employers. Any tips? Thanks for video!
Now, something helpful for the older workers. As we get older joints start to hurt, mobility becomes an issue and healthcare costs dramatically increase. There is a very strong market for helping even older people who need their houses cleaned, meals cooked, mail read, to be wheel chaired into the shops and just company (to fight off that loneliness). The very old usually have some money because they were from a generation of austerity, they were the greatest generation, they had far better habits then the boomers, houses were even cheaper in their time and paid with cash, they saved extremely hard and also have a good government pension. In old age they need support and will pay for it. The boomers can take this opportunity minus the prestige to get all that capital just waiting there to be taken. Boomers must learn to budget this time round and acquire the money saving habits of the greatest generation or trouble will be just around the corner.
Have you considered getting a certificate to teach English as a second language? I live overseas and there are plenty opportunity. Not the best pay, but great adventure and experience.
Hi Julie, that is such a personal question and your life circumstances will define the decision. I personally am passionate about lifelong learning but commitment to a masters program may not be necessary - however if you have the time, money and desire - go for it!! x
I love your channel. Great great content. Would you consider moving back from the camera a few more inches? Not a lot, maybe 6 inches. Thanks. Again. Love you’re channel and you are beautiful.
It's really tough right now. I'm 63 and I have been job hunting for several months. I live in a small town. There are loads of people applying for every job. Thanks for the pep talk.
check out AARP Back To Work 50+ Work Program - its free. i did it and found it EXTREMELY helpful

Hi Judy, happy to hear your story❤
Hello mark😊
I like your thoughts on this. I agree!
@@andrewjonathan9775 Hello how are you doing?
I'm still working at 67. Part time in accounting and part time as musician. I don't plan to stop.
Hello Fran😊
Hey
I agree with u . I will work the most I can… I do not like to stay home 😂😂
I am 75, and a part time manager of a small (20 units) apartment complex. It's perfect for me.
gingerlori52....Oh, that IS a wonderful, part time employment. It is bound to be such an interesting job! Thank you for submitting your comment, it may open employment job ideas to someone! Enjoy that job!
gingerioui52...great job! I'll bet it's interesting & you learn a lot!
I've always thought this would be a good job for me, especially part time!

@@gingerlori52 That's great! Do you ever have safety concerns, showing apartments to strangers for example?
Here in the US there's a program through AARP where people can get paid training through non profits while the program helps them find jobs. I work with the seniors who go through this program and they enjoy it quite a lot and have gone on to good jobs with their help.
Can you please let us have the link where people can apply? Thanks J.
Would you share the link of this program? Thank you
In the US, I know Goodwill stores mission is to make jobs for people and while the pay is not big, they really do help especially over 55 yrs old.
I'm 61 years old and highly motivated, sooner or later, someone's going to hire me...👍
Hello Joni😊
I’ve noticed a lot of jobs require you be able to lift 50 lbs.
Kathy Pillow...I have seen that requirement too, and even if I could I would not plan on doing that as a requirement for employment!
Judy, Judy, Judy ~ Just another way to weed out older people.
Im girija 57 years l like to spend some time with public n help the need and the same time l need earn my daily food to .what business you can advise me
This is why no jobs for me.Everyone ask that.
Good luck on your search. I’m sure you’ll find some thing. Stay strong.
I love your positivity. I really feel lost at this time in my life. It is great for women to help each other. Thanks so much.
Hello Angela😊
I’ve shown my mum your site too, she’s in her late 70s and is loving reading your site 😍
If you have experience in a certain field you can but if you were a stay home mother who supported your husband’s business but no longer run a business it is very hard to find a job .
That is where I am at. So I am looking at careers with just a certificate.
Thank you for the encouragement. You can get really frustrated with the rejection and the ostracism in the industry.
Don't know if it was just another faux, because every time I apply, it turns out to be Uber! lol
My son has done extremely well and wants to make my life easier.

Hello Marla😊
Not in the USA no pension in most jobs. I was let go at 62.I’m looking for a job.
Wish you luck
Hi dear Margaret, Off topic again but I have to comment on your perfect lip color. This is an incredibly on time and appropriate topic. Thank you for the ideas as I am going to work again. Don't know where or how but you have given me some great ideas like the bookstore. I have always picked up books before anything else. HMMMM
Hello Margaret😊
Hello Marcia😊
Here in the province of Québec (Canada) , the population is aging. Yet there is a problem with age discrimination in the workplace. I keep seeing government ads saying there is a shortage in the workforce. Solution : hire more older folks , duh!!!

Any ideas? Thanks,

Wonderful video, thank you. Very strengthening and inspiring for those of us facing all these Ageist challenges. Could you please provide the name of the Facebook group, or a link, founded by Ashton Applewhite that you mentioned in your video at [8:53]? I need all the sources of support I can get. Hello 👋
I turned 65 this month and my boss let me go two weeks ago. He told he's making changes and doesn't need me anymore. I want to work 5 more yrs.

60 is the new 50. We can definitely work until we are 70 or 80.
Why would you want to?
@@barrycwell9510 To be useful.
I wouldn't want to work to that age. If I had to I wouldn't want to carry on anymore. However, pension age in the UK is another seven years and maybe more. Also our disgraceful government is taking so much from pensioners so by the time I retire, if ever at this rate, there will not be much to retire on.
Thankyou for your video.
Hello Leticia😊
Thanks for the ideas, it will help me a lot.
Do you know if the unemployed in The U.K. have to sign on at the job centre in their sixties?
Thanks for sharing
Does anyone know if the Americans with Disability Act can help older adults with the "being able to lift 50 pounds" requirement at some jobs? I realize in many jobs it's an actual requirement to do the work, but I doubt anyone with physical limitations is interested in applying for manual labor jobs. I suspect it might be just a way to keep older people from applying for many jobs that only involve sitting at a desk and/or talking on a phone.
Love the necklace ❤️❤️❤️ have a blessed day

Any tips?

Do you suggest getting a masters after 50?
Hi Julie, that is such a personal question and your life circumstances will define the decision. I personally am passionate about lifelong learning but commitment to a masters program may not be necessary - however if you have the time, money and desire - go for it!! x
Depends on what kind of masters. My MBA means nothing on the job market now.
If you take a drop in salary you will end up working for less than the minimum wage because you get taxed on your salary and your pension .
Hello
I agree with that.
Dog grooming. You can perhaps do it from home. There are programs to teach you.
