  • This song is so special to me for many reasons. It's my first song I've ever written fully in Gagana Tokelau and the meaning still floods me with so much emotion. I made this translation video to share the English version of what I'm singing. I filmed and edited it myself because the concept felt so close to my heart that I wanted to share it directly from me to you.
Thank you to my brother Matatia Foa'i for producing the song.
Thank you my beautiful sis in law Liana for sharing her love of this message in her performance on screen.
Thank you to our stunning impromptu Tokelau Choir: Havini Ihaako, Hale Sale, Serita Gaualofa, Harrietta Sale, Misiena Sale, Theresa Vailega Talaga and Alexia Khalil for singing with me
And fakafetai lahi “Pacific Mother” team for asking me to write this song for your beautiful film.

This is the sad reality everyone has to face either way in this modern era. Change. It'll come and swallow everyone of us eventually, and it's up to the user to move on and adapt. It's a sad truth that many don't want to accept, but to move forward with what we have and our knowledge of our forbearers in the past, is what we can use to grow faithfully and continue with grace and humbleness.
Fakafetai ko te pehe Olivia. Ke manuia koe i te alofa o te Atua~ 💓🙏

Thank you. You speak a sad truth looking backward but what is remembered is not lost. The future will one day be the old ways, too. Much love you sing. Much gratitude for it.

Thank you so much for your beautiful and rather sad song. I keep listening to it since watching Pacific Mother and started singing to it (mostly the "mai anamua") Thank you for gifting this song to the world and to the film. Means a lot to me.

Merci.
Thank you for reminding us that the culture of the Pacific peoples is one of the strongest symbols of purity and respect for life on Earth. It still echoes in our hearts and souls, whatever our origins, and wherever we are on our planet. Thank you for your support.

Why that ending? Beside that beautiful. We continue to go of course. We don't go back. We go forward, with all from the past that is ours and supports us. The future holds it all. We choose. Love
